  • A Yale University professor is teaching students around the world how science can help them lead a happier life. Laurie Santos started the class "Psychology and the Good Life" back in January. Nearly one quarter of Yale's undergraduates enrolled, making it the most popular course in the school's more than 300-year history. Now, over 138,000 people around the world have registered for the class online. Santos joined "CBS This Morning" for a crash course on happiness.

When I was growing up in Taiwan, we were taught “helping others is the root for happiness”. I think this is the reason why foreigners love Taiwan because the Taiwanese are extremely friendly and you feel at home right away. Before the pandemic when I commuted to work by park and ride, I offered to help passengers who took the bus in Manhattan and arrived in NJ without a car. I would take them to their destination if they got off at the same stop. For me it’s just a short drive but it’s a long walk for them.m

I am already happy!!! I made those decisions long before I graduated from University. Now I can say, I have been married for almost three decades, I have helped my family and strangers in their time and needs and I do continue behaving the same way

10 years ago I was diagnosed with crohn's and I almost died due to an obstructed bowel.
Without going into the countless ways this has affected my physical as well as my mental health, trust me when I say that I would never wish this on my enemy.
But my situation is actually fine and I just need to change my perception of my reality and accept it. Then and only then, can I be "happy".

What works for me is being thankful for what i have. Its not great wealth but its enough. I also suspect very wealthy people dont appreciate each new thing they acquire. How could they? Remember seeing film of elton john goes shopping. It was whole racks of shirts, more shoes than could ever be worn etc etc. So, hes not going to ever feel the particulour pleasure of wearing something out....or getting fav boots re-soled, fading your best denim shirt and so on.
Also, enjoy the little things. Cups of tea/coffee, bits of cake. A fun drive. A sunset. It also helps that i only just survived a serious accident a few years ago. Now, although im completely smashed up, im actually happier. Maybe it takes something like that.....

Love how science is now being used to address what the church has done for centuries. Gratitude to Christ for His indescribable grace, camaraderie, and accountability w fellowship, and the support thru what ever comes by the church has only been validated. Praise the Lord and a small feature of His called science.

Jesus wasn't black that is a myth made up by the same blacks that say Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, the queen, etc were black.
The middle east had a variety of races and ethnicities. Although it wasn't black because the middle easy isn't Africa.

Practice gratitude meditation. Contribute to society, not in monetary terms, smile to strangers.

All very good tips! I’ve started a gratitude/blessings journal already and I’m gonna check out the course but ultimately getting to know Jehovah God and his son Jesus is the key to a truly happy life now and in the future!

I think you are inflating (pun intended) the idea of obesity. Personally I see a beautiful and voluptuous woman who not only looks sexy, but also has a brain.
      I like it like that!
