I remember the Little Dry Creek park around 1961 as a kid. There was a placard in stone that said this creek is where gold was first found in Colorado by the Stephen H. Long expedition of 1820. We moved out of the area for a few years and returned in that area. By that time that park was a hole in the ground with the sign on the fence saying "Coming! Cinderella City!" I went there for most anything I wanted from opening until 1980. I would visit the mall at times until it closed. I also visited the Villa Italia mall in that time period. I got good aerial photos of both malls from an airplane returning to San Diego for training in 1971 during one of my leaves in the Navy. These days with my age, the current malls in the Denver metroplex has a whole lot of nothing. Edit add: The upper elevated parking around 1978 was getting fun to drive on as the centers of each square were buckling downward.
My Aunt & Uncle owned the shop "Once Upon a Time" that began in CinderAlley downstairs, then later moved up stairs to I think the Gold mall at the top of the stairs. Our family, myself, sisters cousins Grandma, Mom... all of us worked there many weekends for many years from the early 70's till it's demolishing! It's in our blood. Ironic it's also the name of this project!❤ I'd love to see anything with photo's of the Shop and more non Chain stores like Zezo's, The Stand, Red Moon Pizza and Alaghandi's! (who btw... now has a stand out at the Flee Market, Yes!!!) That would make this project extraordinary- Showing the signs of the shops that made this place what it was! He zoomed past the original shop downstairs with a "Once Upon a Time" sign w/the horse and buggy logo. Maybe we can submit some photos. Oh, and the underground prkg... that's where we always parked coming in early morning s to open up the shop. I'll never forget! This mall also sat on top of a neighborhood park/open space where my Mama grew up in the 50's. So bittersweet, all of it!!😌 Love You Lorraine, my beautiful loving Aunt - RIP.
Just found out my mom worked in the rose mall in about 1970, when she was about 16. She worked at Just Pants. I wanted to find out more about the mall, especially since I was born just a month prior to the demolition, and it's been great coming across this! I wasn't expecting to find so much information, I'm so glad.
So many memories from Cin-City as me my friends called it. We always parked underground near the arcade entrance. If I remember correctly it was on the west/northwest side. Spent hours wandering around with no real purpose but hanging out with friends. Cinder Alley was awesome and I was bummed when it closed. Worked at Chick Fil A for a little while. I miss that old, grand hang-out. I hate what the area there is now. Thanks for bringing back some deep, nearly forgotten, memories.

Apparently I was brought to the soft opening as a 3 month old. My uncle was home from the Navy and walked around with me so my mom could shop. We lived close so I spent many hours at Cinderella City. I worked there at Things Remembered in high school and eventually became store manager. I don't think I have any photos but I will certainly share them if I find anything. This has been an amazing walk down memory lane. Thank you!!
I grew up next to the Englewood rec center and I remember Cinderella city well. I have so many memories even though it was well on its decline in the early 90s. I remember cinder alley, fantastic Nathan’s, I remember what the foot locker looked like of all places. My mom has worked at the civic center since it was built. She owns a piece of a hand railing from before it was demolished. 😊
I remember shopping there with my Mom and Grandma back in the 1970's 80's and then as an adult in the 90's! It was grand! This is nicely donee! Enjoyed this video

Although I didn't have a chance to visit Cinderella City whilst a resident in Lakewood, Denver, Wheat Ridge, and Aurora throughout the 90s and early 2000s, I do recall my favorable gas-discharge lighting thereat and everywhere else! Nowadays, however, boring LED has taken over. I miss mercury and sodium vapor; let alone neon and fluorescent and incandescent...
