Robbie Krieger, the man who wrote "Light My Fire". If he did nothing else in his life, that classic alone should make him a musical legend, but so many great songs that came from him, and yet he remains one of the most soft spoken and humble rock guitarists I've ever seen. Thank you Robbie, your playing inspired and launched so many of us on our own musical journeys.
@@spookiesvideogames2697 While both Jim and Robbie wrote songs together, with Robbie more often supplying the music and Jim the lyrics, surprisingly, many of the songs Robbie wrote solo, sound on first reflection of the lyrics, like "Morrison-type-songs". But Robbie apparently had such a good ear, that he was quickly able to adapt to the "Morrison style" or "Doors Style" and subject matter. With The Soft Parade, the writing credits are clearly displayed for the first time, and would be for their remaining albums, so it's interesting to see how many "Jim Sounding Lyrics" are actually penned by Robbie: Robbie is now generally considered to be the original creator of "Light My Fire" as detailed in Danny Sugarman's "No One Here Gets Out Alive" book of the Doors. It's unbelievable that Robbie and so many other icons are sharing their cool tracts on RUclips. Gosh, wish I'd had all these lessons back in the 70's. Highschool would've been so much cooler... Robbie, thanks for sharing. Take care and be well!
What a special treat-like a private lesson from a Master. Been playing the Doors for decades and yet it still sounds fresh and current. Make the hair on your arms stand up when you hear your favorite song of theirs. Thanks and Cheers!
Robby Krieger, tuning a guitar and playing the blues. And then writes a song that sounds nothing like the blues. One of a kind dude, one of a kind band.
Robbie Krieger is one of the most awesome and best guitarists of all time!! I will always love and respect The Doors and there legendary Music for life!!!!!!😎🤘🏿👍🏿
I used to fall asleep to the Doors music. So many favorites...This one is outstanding. I am a guitar player and Robby is one of my favorites. I had a roommate when I was in my early 20's. Unreal drummer and his bands were incredible...played with many pro's and won't bore you with the details. Anyhow, drunken I used to love pounding on his drum kit, (everyone would scream at me to knock it off). Their guitar player started with this riff at a house party...I jumped off the drums and started singing in my best Morrison voice. The next 2 hours it was me and the guitar player doing Doors tunes. I thought it was just a goof, but the musicians there thought the two of us were incredible, (I am not a singer BTW). I love the Doors and I love Robbie...

I had the incredibly chance privilege of getting guitar lessons the 80’s from Robby’s bass player at the time, Rick Moors, at JB Wilson’s guitar shop in Woodland Hills, CA. I would ask Rick, how to play LA Woman, or Light My Fire, or whatever, and he ask Robbie. The next week, Rick would show me what Robby shared with him. I was so blessed by Rick and Robby. It is almost unfathomable to me that I was connected to these two dear and patient souls, taking time to share Robby’s and The Doors’ music with a greasy, curious 17 year-old me. Even to this day, blows my mind. Thank you Robby and Rick, for adding that magic to my life!

@@dillypop8358 ok maybe robby implemented one of those metal rings on his finger & dragged across the strings , I'm thinking from memory of the live version !
The fluttering noise you hear is Ray playing organ with vibrato. The moaning guitar sound you hear is Robbie playing with a slide and using volume swells with a DeArmond Volume pedal - the same type of pedal as a wah wah except the sweep goes from no volume to max volume instead of bass to treble. You can also do volume swells by using your guitar volume knob, but Robbie used a volume pedal - you can also hear him using it at the beginning of the song with a fuzztone when Robbie's guitar first comes crashing in. Another example is at the chaotic peak of The End where he rocks the volume pedal back and forth rapidly before finally pushing it all the way down to get max volume and produce some of the best amp feedback ever heard.

The Doors are still ahead of the time, circa 2020
Yes they are.
Which is why so many of the current group of teens (aka GenZ) LOVE the music of The Doors!!!
Does more than stand the test of time totally agree it’s super fresh not just Jim the whole damn band so different from the jam bands of the day they all had their place Doors music will live for ever till the end of time 😉
What a tired statement. What does it mean to be “ahead of their time”????
Not sure about ahead of the time, but definitely timeless at this point.
Thank you for the lesson Robby! The Doors will always remain my favorite band. I keep going back there for some reason. Timeless magic
The Doors are my absolute favorite. Every Doors song is great. Moonlight Drive is one of my top joints from them. Doors fan since teenager. That was many moons ago. Peace to all my DOORS brothers and sisters!
Look at the joy in his face even today!
Amazing gold ...
Thank you sir for still being alive and strong .
I was jaming moonlight drive while cooking dinner earlier and this is came in ! Thank you Mr. Robby ! You're truely legend !
It's almost surreal, but certain a unique magical treat, seeing Robbie now, jamming+ with Robbie & the boys from back then!
Crap!! I mean **RobbY** ;)
The best classical guitarist ever known A man who never sought fame Unique style Why is the best
It's a honor to learn from Robbie himself!!!
Thanks so much Robbie, love moonlight drive !!!
A REAL GENTLEMAN. A MILESTONE IN ROCK MUSIC HISTORY, HE ACTS WITH SUCH A HUMILITY, NOT PRETENDING TO BE THE GREAT ROCKSTAR HE ACTUALLY IS. RESPECT!
Hi!, Please a lesson guitar of the song "The End"... 🙇
Mr. Robby Krieger, you still are the man!!! Wish you all the best
Robby you are a legend man. I love you and the rest of the doors ofc ! Band of my life .Stay cool
Dear Robby, I am grown up with your songs in Germany. I love to see you playing. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Robby from the bottom of my heart for taking your time and doing this for us fans and viewers I feel blessed.😎✌
You guys were innovators and all your songs are timeless classic.
We miss all of you and we know that you miss us, but we will meet again.
Thank you for giving so many people a life that was different.
This is so important. I love how he doesn't even care yet this is literally as historic of a lesson as it comes. There's nothing like learning from the master himself .
Robbie teaching me Doors songs is the greatest thing to come out of this virus mess. Thank you, sir!
I love the Internet, how awesome is it to have RK himself teaching the world Doors' songs?
How lucky we are to have Mr. Krieger with us. Thanks 🙏🏽♥️
Hey Robbie could you please show us how to play " When the Music is Over" it's one of my favorite songs from The Doors but i don't know how to get the butterfly sound :)
Wasn't the butterfly from the keyboardist ?
Richard anguiano I'm not so sure i think it's both playing at the same time but the guitar parts on that song are really unique
@@dillypop8358 ok maybe robby implemented one of those metal rings on his finger & dragged across the strings , I'm thinking from memory of the live version !
Richard anguiano hopefully he reveals his secret in a future guitar lesson!!
Thanks, Robby! Love these "How to.." videos. Shaking my head at the flame top Les Paul. It's as old as me!
Thank you man!
for everything!
The best memories for this man I'm sure... God bless you Robby Krieger...
Iconic 1954 Les Paul falls over: “There goes the 54! Sumbitch” Haha 😂
My all time favorite American Band, The DOORS...! I have all the albums vinyl and cd's and the outake album, everything and all the books....Light My Fire by Robbie in my top 5 all time favorite songs....! 1967 I graduated HS..... (I'm a south side of Chicago guy like Ray, who was from Bridgeport)... What a song Light My Fire is and I still listen to it all the time..... I remember that summer well... Thanks, Robbie! GG...IN
The Song That Started It All. 🌕🎸
A special magic associated with getting it straight from the songwriter. Old school confidence but tempered with humility---a lost virtue.
That LP 1954 black beauty OMG - Robbir Krieger is such an appreciated legend Guitar player who was in the one of the greatest bands of all the time "The Doors"
Love you Robby! I wish I were as fresh you are now when I get your age. You are part of a one an only generation that we the youngsters are proud to still enjoy. Peace from Spain!
At the beginning Robbie was playing “Little red rooster”
Yah man, when I first go to open g it's almost instinctual to play that, almost like smoke in the water when u first pick up a guitar
Robby.....once again.....Thank You, lessons by the actual artist are golden nuggets for those of us trying to emulate your work.
I was a 9 year old child when Jim Morrison passed away , I've always liked the doors music !
Thank you Mr. Krieger. These videos of you and Mr. Densmore are priceless. Be safe and it is good to see your guitars.
