I went downstairs to their private lounge area after the show and sat down next to Robby on a couch and chatted with him for a spell, got an autograph on his recent solo CD release and all that jazz. Robby was a very sweet, humble man, and so was his son. A very cool experience, and nobody was interested in coming along with me, and I was like "Hello, this is Robby Krieger of The Doors?!" 😮 I grew up in the 70s and 80s listening to the doors and looking at their pictures on the covers of my treasured Doors albums for hours on end, totally absorbed, I idolised them. I could never in my wildest dreams imagine the day would come that I could be having, on tap, a sort of private lesson with Robby Krieger himself virtually from his own home. I’m speechless. I love The Doors FOREVER. If anything, videos like his, with his talent and lovely charisma and down to earth attitude we’ve come to know of him, he is my hero EVEN MORE.

Nice! No one sounds like him, I've played this song myself on my gigs a million times and have seen a gazillion other guitarists playing the iconic intro but as soon as he started I was "that's the real deal".
The way he uses stacatto, the accents, the semi dead notes in between strong ones, haha, it's all unique, no one does it like Robby.
It was a pelasure to watch.

I remember wishing Robbie was heavier like Hendrix or Clapton or Page, but over the years I've grown to really appreciate the delicacy, precision and subtle power of his style; after half a century I'm still listening to the Doors, but not as much the other guys; the Doors persist. My favourite Doors album is The Soft Parade, because it's half Robbie songs and half Jim's, and also because it's Jim's best crooner album- and also because now, with the 50th, we finally have "The Soft Parade Naked".
