    The brightness and spin in his sound is simply incredible. I doubt we’ll ever hear a voice like Kurt’s ever again.

    For a basso profundo to sing so lyrically is so unusual and makes Moll my favorite. Then there's the sheer beauty of the voice...I could go on, and we all wish Moll could have gone on and on. Auf weidersehn!

    The thing about Herr Moll... his singing and his acting ... he is always having a grand time, at the top of his art, and just picks us up and sweeps us off our feet and carries us quite away with him. To have seen him live must have been overwhelming ... he must have stolen every show he was ever in. It is a privilege to even be able to see these recordings, through which the joy he brought to the world continues on.

    Never heard a Bartolo like this.... He's just awesome..... Why are there no singers like that ,anymore....?

    • @vanzofaust
      @vanzofaust 6 лет назад +8

      Because no one is willing to spend the time learning the art. And money decides who gets to study and then who gets to have a career. Having a real voice no longer matters.

      @@vanzofaustsadly you're so sadly right about that. It's a pity. Voices like this, you don't find them nowadays. I never heared a voice like his any time after that. He was one of the greatest basso-voices ever. Also truly gifted and talented in acting on stage. Let's keep this as a real treasure as it is.

      @@vanzofaust Too true. It's a real shame that opera (at least the well publicized ones) are only based on image and not on the real expectations and demands of what the score and the art form demands of these people to do. I sing opera myself so I can definitely see where you are coming from and I empathize. Thankfully, most of the people I have worked with/for are extremely dedicated to the craft and respect the art form so perhaps I am biased. Perhaps things will change and this art form can (at the very least) live in harmony with modern day musical theatre and be just as respected and loved regardless of story or trying to do all of these weird interpretations with opera that make no god damn sense and water down the characters. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

    Very beautiful singing AND acting. Bold voice intonation and really nice volume. Nowadays very difficult to find such a rich high notes sung by REAL basso. Bravo!

    Voce ricca, piena e bellissima, doti recitative enormi, anche perché l’aria non è molto semplice, e lui sembra eseguirla con una semplicità quasi scioccante... grande Kurt Moll peccato che anche questo gigante in tutti i sensi putroppo ci ha lasciati

    Superb singing, with marvelous Italian diction.

      His singing is indeed fantastic, but his Italian diction unfortunately is very "Germanic"...

    • @SebiUbi
      @SebiUbi 10 лет назад +3

      the diction is definitely not marvelous! He sings generally very slowly, and when he does his diction is ok, but when he has to sing fast it is, as an italian, almost impossible to understand what he is saying, which shouldn't be the case in Mozart's operas, who, as a composer of the Wiener Klassik, has the purpose of being always very clear (you can't waste the poetry of Da Ponte! eheh)

    La vendetta, oh, la vendetta!
    È un piacer serbato ai saggi
    L'obliar l'onte e gli oltraggi
    È bassezza, è ognor viltà

      This aria is one of Mozart's cruelest practical jokes. It sounds so easy, but then you try to sing it and it's nigh impossible, a deadly choker full of tricks. Like the first patter-phrase "si potrebbe, col l'astuzia, col l'arguzia, col judizio, col criterio, si potrebbe, si potrebbe, si potrebbe, si potrebbe...(pause)... Il fatto e serio, il fatto e serio, il fatto e serio!"-- the phrase starts right in the typical basso's comfort zone and then jumps up into the passagio, and god help you if you forgot to reserve most of your air for the upper ending part of the phrase, you'll choke on it and be winded for the rest of the aria.
