- Kurt Moll star in this production of one of Mozart's best-loved operas, staged by the Metropolitan Opera of New York with sets designed by David Hockney. Kurt Moll is the wise Sarastro. He sings "In diesen heil' gen Hallen" and "O Isis und Osiris" two magnificent arias.
As Sarastro, Kurt Moll uses his rich, perfectly controlled tone to shape Mozart's taxing lines and effortlessly plumb the depths of low F, more than making up for his somewhat stilted stage presence. No one minds: Artist At Work.

Absolutely the best! I am grateful we have had him share his gift. He goes on to a deserved rest and we have all these wonderful recordings and memories.
Agreed. By way of comparison: go to the video of this opera stage directed by Peter Ustinov with Gedda as Tamino; there you'll hear a young Moll as (the best) 2nd Man in Armor. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

I am by no means an opera critic, and everyone has their own opinions.. I disagree with "stilted" being assigned here. That out of the way, thank you for this perfect upload, the video quality is amazing and the audio is perfect.
