I am a qualified and experienced general surgeon and prior to my studies in Medical School I went to the music conservatory and my main subject was piano. I received also a solo diploma. Now I'm 58 years old and 2024 is my best year, because I feel not traumatized anymore by Glenn Gould. I can play them also on a high level even if I don't work as a professional musician anymore. I've been listening to Beatrice over and over again and her interpretation of the Goldberg variations is the best in our entire times. I don't know even one musician reaching that level. Beatrice Rana understands the architecture of this music and that's what she's expressing !
Quite a few people disliked this. I wonder why. It is a simple interview where I could not find anything particularly contentious... she is a good pianist, no question about that.
Beatrice Rana explained a very important issue by telling us not to listen to old or older recordings of other musicians while studying new pieces. Of course: the Goldberg-Variations, played by Glenn Gould are shocking for ordinary musicians. When I heard it as a young kid, this was so perfect that I never tried to learn it. Maybe there was the great Rosalyn Turecck who approached to it. Almost a lot of effortless recordings or live- performances everywhere on the globe and unfortunately not worth to mention. And than Beatrice Rana came along....Wow! I don't know where she got it from but she got it! In my opinion the 1st and "legal" recording after Glenn Gould passed away much too young in 1981. R.I:P. Glenn Gould and welcome to the hearts of a small range of humans knowing that you are the brand-new game changer in our century, my dear genius who enlightened me with your breathtaking performance! I love you, dear Beatrice !
Well said. I feel the same way too. Also, I love the Glenn Gould 1981 recording including the humming. But Beatrice Rana’s Goldberg is another favorite in a different way.

Yeah I was wondering that myself
Più di un terzo al momento; non sono "few" ma "many" o sbaglio? Strano, concordo
