    • @ThisIsTechToday
      @ThisIsTechToday  4 месяца назад +2

      Oh, yeah, I definitely pointed that out in the AI section and you can even see it happening in the insane telephoto shot. There's no covering up for that, but it is the most "natural" looking one. Xiaomi I wouldn't say is "real" per se as that is quite subjective. It has the most opinionated "film like" Leica filter on it. Natural it is not, especially when referring to digital sensors. All of them are doing a ton of processing and it depends on your tastes and preferences.

      Exactly! They're trying to counter the reality of physics by using tons of AI. Just put a better sensor and glass in there! It doesn't have to be so complicated! Now all the over processing is creating tons of artifacts and weird looking photos. The artifacts on the woman's black garment is a good example of AI noise.

    Just to add up for color science. For xiaomi, not only it has main color of leica vibrant n authentic, it also has 2 others leica colors that are leica vivid n natural. Its not a simple filter one might think, try it, set main as leica vibrant, then choose leica vivid or natural. If want more natural color, should choose leica vibrant + leica natural. Leica authentic isnt natural color, it just leica own authentic color science.
    While vivo has 3 color science options, more contrast look like leica authentic, choose texture color, want natural color, you have zeiss natural. Want a normal vibe with a bit vividness, choose vivid.

    No reviewer tests the dng files at 20x... It also makes sense to compare the Vivo at 20x because it is possible that they use 4-1 binning at 10x (so it's possible that they don't use the full resolution at 10x) because otherwise they would need to read out and downsample 27 megapixel at 230mm.

    I am from Singapore and bought the Vivo X100 Pro when it was released globally in January. The camera is mind blowing. Apple and Samsung have grown fat and lazy the last few years. They have stopped innovating and many ppe in the US don't know any better and just get with whatever Apple and Samsung puts out every year.
    I used to get the new Samsung Galaxy S phone every year when it is released and gave up a couple of years ago when they want to sell me a >$1k phone without providing me any charger (in the name of environmental friendliness). However, when you go to the shop, the sales person will ask if you want to get a new Samsung charger with the phone. Go figure! Basically just corporate greed.

    Time and time again, the shots show up Vivo's (Zeiss', really) strength in micro contrast. That's what gives Vivo shots that ever-so-subtle gradation of details that immediately stands out from the Pixel and Xiaomi. The bokeh (what do you guys keep calling it "bo-ka"? I was always told - going back to at least a decade before digital cameras appeared - that it's pronounced "bo-kay") of all three are nothing to write home about....if I were to use Leica's classic bokeh from their top prime lenses as the benchmark. Something that we can't escape from at this budget is that vignetting is rampantly showing up in all three cameras with, again, the Vivo exhibiting noticeably better attempt at containing them.
    When it comes to shooting into the light (source, sun, what have you), nothing touches Zeiss in terms of how capable it is in resolving the light source with minimal to no flares or artifacts. That's been the case from the time I had my first prime Zeisses back in the 1990s and that's still the case today, as the Vivo has shown.

    You are a good storyteller. I had the opportunity to use these phones. Vivo is not as good as you praise it. Vivo has only a good telemacro. But in all other respects, Vivo does not take pictures, but draws like a bad artist. In all portraits, if the distance is about 3 m or more, there will definitely be poor-quality watercolors. When zooming more than 10x, clumsy drawing begins. The pixel gets noise, which is natural, but it does not draw like that. Why don't you talk about this? And about the fact that even in Zeiss mode, Vivo's photos are too contrasty and oversaturated. I kept quiet about Xiaomi, since there the styles are generally for an amateur and are far from natural colors. Now the new 14t and 14t pro have come out, there these styles have already been corrected, which means that in the 15 series it will be better with this

    I really really regret getting the Pixel 9 PRO XL. The worst part is that on screen some photos look great before they right in front of your eyes ger turned into an overprocessed mess. My dad looks like a zombie in all photos. It takes the warmth out of skin tones. Warm red skin tones get turned into purple/grey. So if you are in a 2700K environment it makes all skin tones looks as if they're illuminated by extremely cool white lights which completely ruins the scene. Another example is if you take a picture of the christmas tree. It's horrible. My budget point and shoot camera from 2007 make a better job capturing the scene than what the pixel can achieve. It raises the shadows and get rid of all the contrast.
    If you try to get around the post processing you can activate image picker for the 12.5mp mode. By doing so you can access a timeline of pictures taken before they get processed. Sometimes it creates two different post processed images. One called "original". It lifts the shadows too much. The other does the opposite. It adds extra contrast in an really unnatural way. It's only at certain times this "recommended" option shows on this timeline. All other in processed photos look exactly as you see them on screen before the picture get processed, except that they are so soft and low quality that they aren't usable.
    I want to be able to choose how much post processing is added and time it to my own liking. Maybe I want extra sharpness by combing all the pictures taken when enabling the image picker. And also reduce noise this way. But not create a complete flat image by using HDR. That's another thing. You can disable ultra HDR but not HDR+. So HDR is always applied no matter what you do.
    Some RUclipsrs have lifted the pixel 9 pro xl to the skies also claiming they're photographers. But they're all scammers. Probably paid by Google.
    My old Galaxy S20 FE does a better job taking pictures that represent what the scene actually looks like. But it's often too soft in many situations to be usable. But for shooting the Christmas tree it's a night and day difference since accessing pro mode and the ability to turn off all HDR... Well it gives you complete control over how the picture will turn out even before the picture is taken. You never get that with the pixel.
    It doesn't matter if the pixel look sharper, less noisy when taking portraits with it's telephoto lens in low light scenarios compared to the S20 FE if it screws up the skin tones.
    The post processing overides all pro settings you enable on the pixel.
