WOW!! This is great information and knowledge to know if it ever happens to us. I notice now a days customer service has improved with certain companies and is great that its becoming more easier to handle these situations. Thanks Jeff you're a lifesaver!!
Thank you for this video jeff! had one of my batteries for my dewalt lawn mower go bad and only have had it for 6 months. they are sending me a new one! thank you for showing me about this!
I've had really good luck with Lowes on Craftsman tools, they will swap it with the like product no questions asked. Very happy with this since there are no more Sears Storer's. I really miss them especially around Christmas time and all the shinny new tools!!
Jeff, thanks for making this valuable video.
Great information to know for any future returns, thanks!
Gold! Thanks for taking the time to do this, very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info. Thanks for sharing Jeff.
Thanks for Sharing the information about warranty.
Thanks Jeff for your information 👍 and video 👍 📹 I appreciate you
Great video. SB&D covered a B&D L-I line trimmer twice. First, the battery crapped out, they sent a replacement. Then, a plastic part between the motor and head stripped, so they sent a refund by corporate check because it was not repairable, and they had no more of my model in inventory. I now have a trove of Dewalt and Craftsman 20v tools because I know they will stand behind their warranties.
Thanks George!
Nice Customer Service! Upgrading the replacement!
Yes indeed!
Dewalt did the same with my pressure washer awesome service.
Great information Jeff, I have at least six or seven DeWalt tools and multiple batteries. I’m going to go through my entire stack of receipts with Home Depot and put them in a folder. Tremendously good information. Thank you again
Couple points to add: Harbor freight offers an extended warranty on many products which is virtually a no questions asked replacement plan. The Ridgid lifetime service agreement is very difficult to register - others have said you can do it instantly via Facebook but I haven't seen any instructions on that yet - supposedly Ridgid honoring their LSA is one of the toughest things to get done. Also a reminder that some retailers print their receipts on thermal paper - like Walmart - and guess what: in the heat and with time they completely vanish - so it's a really good idea to make copies or take pictures of those receipts.
Interesting I thought Ridgid registration was easy and I have at least 12 different Ridgid tools. Now as far as the warranty i couldn't get any 24 volt batteries (these were from about 8 years ago) and they don't make them anymore. They did send me 18v as a replacement with a charger and they work perfect.
Hey Jeff great video on the Dewalt battery. FYI I missed out on that great (2)count 6 Hour flexvolt deal for $179 the week of black Friday, but guess what? It's back on Home Depot's site for delivery and instore pick-up. Did grab that awesome 5" deep cut bandsaw for free! Took five stores but found it in Long Island NY Thanks again! Merry Christmas to you and all your family and followers Jason Paul
I posted this today: 🎄🛒 homedepot.sjv.io/4ePOr9 Dewalt FLEXVOLT 6.0 Ah Battery Pack (2-Pack) is back on for those of you who missed it in store. This is a good price because one by itself is $219, but the 2 pack is $179. they will ship to store or ship to home for you.
As always Jeff, fantastic and super informative. Would you please think about making a video that would help answer battery date codes or some other way of identifying when and where they were manufactured. I thank you in advance and I know you will continue to make great videos. Wishing you and yours continued health.
Good idea
Good job Jeff, Thx for video
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Those channellocks look surprisingly close to the Neiko sets that I have bought many of. And one of which was missing the same screw out of a 1/2" ratchet.
Dewalt warranty has been amazing!!! They have replaced 6 batteries for me no problem! I have them on my text now and they are responsive 24/7! Home Depot swapped a Dewalt impact driver that the clutch went out on - it was well past it’s warranty and looked like it spent some time in a blender.
Thanks for sharing
Great video. Something that I have always wondered about.
Anyone submitted warranty claim for Ego and Ryobi?
You tell of an interesting ratchet replacement experience. The opposite took place with my lifetime warranty from sears-craftsman. The set includes a plastic handle nut driver with 1/4 square drive. It doubles as a 6 inch 1/4 inch extension. The top of the handle has an inserted 1/4 steel female that takes the ratchet driver. The plastic is too weak to take the torque and makes a little crack in the handle, which can no longer hold the insert. Craftsman had discovered this design defect, and no longer makes the combo driver/extension. (They could have just redesigned it with continuous steel thru the handle!) They would not give me the two separate tools to restore my functions. They said, either the 6 inch extension bar, or the driver with plastic handle, and I must let them crush the cracked one! They would not let me keep the perfectly useable driver, and just get an extension, because they feared that we could make many additional claims on it. Understood, but why not just give me both inexpensive pieces? Or redesign with continuous steel core? (What does it cost to mold a plastic handle onto an extension?)
great inf jeff thank you
Yes if you can get both a paper receipt and email of the receipt from any store do it. Even if the cashier does not seem to have the time which are few. This has saved my butt many of times.
Once I set it up at the store cash register in each one of the stores, it automatically knows where to email of the next time you use it because it is tide to the card
That's why I love Milwaukee, they never deny...they take care of their customers...I'm speaking from experience. I live 5 minutes from Stanley black and decker in Towson Maryland and I'm a Milwaukee guy. That being said, DeWalt is a great company also.
Thank you for the video
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Picked up at Lowe’s the craftsman 4 tool kit brushless for 74 dollars!!! Amazing!!!
That was a score!
Exactly the videos not many review after months to years of use
You can jump start the battery with a wire. Just look it up. I had that issue on two brand new 5ah batteries, looked up a video and jumped it. Been using those batteries everyday for a couple years now and they're still great.
Still likely the cells inside are defective, the packs do provide power, just have either dead cells or thy are low capacity. If NimH very likely to be dendrited cells in there, which can be possibly rejuvenated, but which are unlikely to last long term. If lithium then one cell pair is dead, and needs the pack replaced, or the internal cells replaced with ones that are higher capacity.
Just tried the battery hack. Works great, had a Sony Bluetooth speaker/ AM-FM about 15 years old. Had been using the electrical cord to power the unit. It would not charge!!! Connected the Dewalt 20v battery for about 15 seconds. Disconnect the wire leads and it immediately went in to charge mode when plug into the power cord. Big thanks battery replacement not an option.
Hi Jeff,
I recently had the rip cord on my Ryobi backpack blower tear after only owning it for about 14 months. (I have the receipt)
I’ve been having issues finding out how to contact Ryobi about this. I also can’t find a quick “how to” video for how to replace it.
Do you have any advice?
Yes, I like the companies that send the electronic copy, plus they also have a no quibbles return on things as well. I asked one day, and the record goes back over 20 years, from the first purchase on the card.
As to that 6Ah battery, you probably will find the 5Ah version is no longer supplied, so they give the most close replacement item they have, that will work there.
good to know
Thanks Jeff, did you have to send them videos of the items or were pictures enough? Thanks!
photo is all that was needed
Jeff Great video but what about Milwaukee
I have one of the the DeWalt rocket lights that I had about 3 months. I went to use it and when I set it up as I was walking away from it I heard a pop noise and it started falling over. I caught it before it fell on the floor, but after inspecting it I found that the socket for one of the three legs had cracked and the leg fell out of the socket. I looked up the warranty info and it basically explained I needed to take it to a DeWalt warranty center, the closet which is about 80 miles away. Rather than make the drive, I sent an email to DeWalt with my receipt and got a quick response saying they would just ship me a replacement, but I would need to return the broken one. Since I had thrown away the large box, I replied back asking if it would be ok if I waited for them to send the replacement, so I could use that box. No problem...they sent the replacement less than a week later and I returned the defective unit. Nothing but praise for their customer service.
That is awesome Chris!
Rigid rocks never had a problem getting batteries replaced even ones I've had for years and have a local Rigid authorized repair center nearby drop off a tool replacement in days or repaired again never a problem !!!! Ye I'm a loyal Rigid Fan
Hi jeff, is it possible to claim warranty for my flexvolt 6.0ah battery if i bought it from USA authorized dealer and ship it here in ASIA.
Now its broken and wont charge its almost brand new used it once only. The battery says its 2021 production and its well within 3 years warranty period.
Will dewalt USA honor my claim of warranty? I have relatives living in USA who can accept replacement if dewalt replace the battery.
In Europe we have to register our DeWalt purchase within 4 weeks to be eligible for the 3 year warranty otherwise it's just 1 year.
The regular pack casing is the 18650 cells the pack casing that's more bubbled is the 21700 cells
Thanks Dan!
@jeffostroff did you fill out the warranty paperwork that came in the box for that to work like that or does sending that in not really help? Never had one fail yet...thanks
Over the years I haven't much turned in any of those cards that come with the tools or much of any other products that I buy because I have found over the years when you call to make a claim and you say but I registered they tell you no you weren't registered for warranty that was just the marketing stuff. So I don't really register unless they have some type of incentive for getting online and getting your project registered. For example last year I bought some studio equipment and it said that we would get another year of warranty if we registered the product so I did. But most times all you need is the receipt to back up unless it's specifically tells you somewhere in the paperwork that you must register your product
@@jeffostroff thank ya so much for taking the time to answer that! Sometimes I feel bad because my comments are so long! But have an awesome day!
Sears Craftsmen use to have a great warranty in their day !Far as the Stanley/black &Decker company goes I think they are a great company !
yes I remember that,
Oh man make me wait so I pay for my tool warranty sins.. but it helps to be nice to the people in customer service/ return area so they remember you and help you out more trust me it works
So I should not have called him a #$%&&@#$%^^^ and told him that his mother is #$@%^&*())?
@@jeffostroff Now now Jeffery we do not talk about people's mothers unless you sleep with her 🤭🤣😂🤫🤔
Can you do a video on the Rigid LSA?
I don't have any Ridgid tools and thus no claims
Dewalt rebuilt a hammer drill for me with a new motor and gearbox and chuck. I sent them one with a jammed up chuck. They paid the shipping too. I told them I got it from Home Depot but I have no idea where it was from. I bought the whole kit from a local guy on eBay.
nice deal!
Corded tools rock! More power and no batteries to worry about.
Lol I was just thinking the same thing about battery operated tools, batteries rule! No more outlets to have to find and no more extension cords to dig out and trip over. And I hate extension cords because when I try to vacuum up at the end of the day the vacuum shop vac does not wanna roll over the cords
Had an issue a while back , I was cleaning my tool collection and had some old Craftsman broken tools, well they have numbers on them , the numbers linked them to Sears, lowes would not honor the tools because they didnt match there numbers even though they were craftsman which I thought was b.s..... anyway contacted sears online , they also asked for pics of the broken tools, I gave them the pics , a few days later I had 75 dollar credit at sears online to order new ones . I ordered something else instead .... Although it was a week or so of crap Craftsman will stick behind there warranty on old Sears tools even if you dont have a Sears around for hundreds of miles you can swap em out .
I got burned by Sears on an expensive electronic torque wrench and there isn't anyone in the United States to fix it. Almost 200 down the drain. The head had a known issue. My advice. Use your stuff immediately and frequently to make sure it works. After 90 days on certain products your out of luck regardless of zero use
Try contacting craftsman warranty through emails, I forgot how I got my Sears process started but I remember chatting with craftsman on the issue. They should give you a credit if the item is still available for purchases.
I've never had an issue with batteries yet... But I have the exact fan and the switch went. It has the same 3 year warranty apparently... But when I contacted them because the switch wasn't working, the switch is not part of the warranty and it's not a replaceable part. So only option would be buy a new fan! Even though I was under 3 years from purchase date.
So you got no coverage at all?
@@jeffostroff pretty much they told me no coverage. They said the switch isn't covered they consider it consumable or something. That was through the DeWalt service center in Alberta Canada.
I ended up going back to the retailer I got it from (Canadian Tire) because their site said 3 year warranty and they actually swapped it for me which was awesome in the end. But on the DeWalt side I did have the issue there.
I will still continue to buy only DeWalt. But that was my warranty experience so far.
@@AdamBoutilier Well you got lucky on that 1. Another thing to consider a lot of people forget that sometimes your credit card provides an extended warranty as well and so you can Investigate that is an alternative solution as well
I want to get the Lufkin and the level, any chance the price may go down?
I am hoping so, I want to score some for our tool giveaway
Pick that model up at Lowe’s on December 8, for $19.98.
How do you claimed the warranty
Reason I choose Dewalt... Price, warranty , Product availability at all big tool stores , Durability, Performance, and they are just soooo much more sexy ! 😎💪😍 Black n Yellow Helps a Fellow !
JEFF can you please post that Dewalt service page thanks 😊
www.dewalt.com/legal/warranty/general-warranty-information Their phone number is listed in the top paragraph of their landing page
Hi JEFF, will you sell me your old dewalt battery all i need is the case none of the cells. I have several cracked cases. Thanks Al.
NEVER HAD A DEWALT 20 VOLT XR BATTERY GO BAD BUT HAD 2 FLEXVOLTS GO BAD PANASONIC HAD SOME BAD CELLS 2017 2019
The replaced the batteries for you?
@@jeffostroff THEY REPLACED THE FRIST ONE BUT SECOND WENT BAD LAST MONTH BUT IT WAS MFD IN 2017 OUT OF DATE I GET TO WALK INTO MY DEWALT SERVICE CENTER OLNY 18 MILES AWAY
The battery is charged when it's red? Not green?
those channel lock ratchets look exactly like the pittsburgh ones you can buy at harbor freight... and those look like the same ones you can buy at walmart....
I have a bad experience with Dewalt with Milwaukee a lot difference
What happened with dewalt?
I got burned by Sears on an expensive electronic torque wrench and there isn't anyone in the United States to fix it. Almost 200 down the drain. The head had a known issue. My advice. Use your stuff immediately and frequently to make sure it works. After 90 days on certain products your out of luck regardless of zero use
Yes, don't let it sit in the box untested
I have 3 dewalt batteries doing the same thing
send them in!
I just take my Milwaukee stuff to the repair guy down the street. It usually costs between $2 and $7 depending on postage to fix any Milwaukee tool no matter how old it is. Dewalt is a pain in the ass and almost impossible to get repaired.
we cracked the case!! it was your lost brain cells in the battery. good vid take care good work👍
I'm guessing if you break a Channel Lock, it will be excluded form coverage.
Maybe they will cover it
DCB206 are 21700 cells
Good to know!
When you have like 40 batteries and duplicates of many tools it's hard to know what receipt goes to what.
That's why they go by date code on the battery
@@jeffostroff so you do or don't need receipt? Confused
You need to jump start the battery 🔋! And I’ll charge back up !
I forgot to use the crank on it!
Maybe he can get some warranty resolution on that haircut
😎
Tips: Communicate to them as if they are next door. (Cuss them out. Louder is better.) Then call them, because they are actually in a different state. Demand satisfaction like the Rolling Stones. They expect it, because they have YOUR money in their actual hand, and are probably counting it as you speak! They are not paying attention to you because of that, so remind them who you are. Tell them you want a new tool, (even if yours is out of warranty). Why? Because what you WANT is simply that. And be sure to also tell them what you NEED - as that's important to them. When all else fails, let them know you will personally see them in Court - but this line is only used right before hanging up, because things are not going your way, and you need an ego saver ending.
Hard to save the receipt for every single thing going back years
You don't need receipt if you register your tool
I don't beleive that registering your tool nonsense, that's all for marketing people to spam you with. When you call for help they want the recipt date and the sku off the receipt
Hi all
thanks for watching tonight Mark!
Remember when rad use to be a thing
yeah man!
Batteries are a scam with an outrageous price. They are the printer cartridge of the tool world.
I never buy batteries alone, only as a buy one get one, or a glitch pricing deal
🤙🏼🍻🍺🎄🎁🤣
🎄🎄🎄
All for me? Call the number they tell you to wow there is 12:46 seconds of unobtainable knowledge you are not gonna get anywhere but here lol wtf
Dewalt has the worse company of them all I’ll never use dewalt ever again I love ridgid LSA especially arteries I replaced my 9th and 10th battery all they ask is to test battery on any charger and serial number and in 3 days new battery just have to call to reregister serial number on new battery to continue LSA and Milwaukee e service they been so good to me
Dewalt has fantastic customer service, as well as Craftsman, Makita and Wen..... Kobalt power tools will make you jump through hoops.. don't buy those.
