I went one Mopar wanted to buy the extensions then noticed rivets alone cost $110+. Thanks to you guys I got the amazon tool+rivets and ordered the extensions on molar. Very helpful, you guys rock!
Great video. Straight to the point. I love that you gave drill bit sizes so viewers minimize guesswork. I've watched it twice and I'm going out to do it now. Hoping for 45 min. install for all four.
Thank you so much for posting this video. Coincidentally, I justed ordered a set of these flares for my '22 Wrangler Rubicon JLU 4xe last week. I was planning to have them installed at a body shop, but after watching this video, I'll probably do it myself.
Good news, these Xtreme recon fender extensions do fit the 2021 Gladiator Mojave. The fronts are perfect fit, just need three extra holes. For the rear, leave your new extensions in the full sun so they are flexible, and unfortunately only the first hole matches up with current rear rivets. I had to drill all new holes, but it looks great. Mojave should have come with these. Worked out well. Thanks for the idea Matt !
Thank you for the video. On my 2019 JLU Rubicon the rears lined up perfectly. The front holes did not line up at all and had to be drill new ones to fit correctly. No big deal, just took some extra time to line up the fronts. Looks great and I am happy with the results.
Yes ! I plan to add these to my Gladiator Mojave ! Thank you Matt ! excellent how to video, I have ordered a set of the fender extensions. Liked and subscribed best regards, sam
plastic rivets and fender flares showed up today. Hoo ray ! I ordered them last Friday. I guess I need to get sick at work tomorrow after it warms up a bit. I have my can of Beefaroni ready !
We just swapped our 05 for 2019 JL. It also has the same fenders. How wide are those extensions? I couldn't find anything measurements on them. We live in Pa and need 2.5 inches more to clear the tires for inspection. Thanks for the video too.
Thanks for the video. I am not handy at all, but your video showed how easy it was. I just finished the install, so should now be able to pass my upcoming PA inspection without issue. Thanks again.
I just spent 4 hours installing the fender extensions on my 392. I like the parts and they fit like a glove. However the rivets and tool used do not work well at all. The pull stud diameter and length on the OTUAYAUTO rivets is too small and the rivet gun would not grab onto the stud. When you add up the thickness of the splash guard, fender and extender the three of them are greater than the pulled length of the rivet - especially on the front fenders. There's a threaded section on the end of the pull stud and some of those threads need to reach and pull through the flange head before the stud breaks off. If this doesn't happen, the rivet will work loose over time and fall out. If you push on the end of the stud with a nail on the rivets where you don't see any threads, you will find that the stud will push completely back out. The rivet studs that come with the gun are much thicker in diameter and they grab much better but there's an insufficient number of rivets in the box to install all 4 extenders. I could not find more of those rivets anywhere. Napa sells a rivet where the stud diameter is 0.020" bigger and the tool will grab them better but the length is still too short to squeeze all three components together for a snug fit. I ended up breaking off twice as many rivets trying to get the threads to grab than the job required.
Where can I find the ones for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe they have the full Fender around the turn signal lights with a small black Edge trim Sahara model the Jeep Wrangler JL has tons of different fenders that do not work with these extensions on the market
Wanted to do this for awhile & have just ordered the parts. Love the videos like this & offroad wipers Also link opens to 6mm rivets. Amazon says those are for JK. Just want to make sure it’s right ones. They are only ones I see in 100pk
I'm adding these to my JTM. Learned from a fellow forum member, buy 2x right front and 2x left front, and you get more coverage on the rear. The rear involves a V cut when installing on the rear, but looks great.
Will these make it through the car wash without coming off? The flares on my Dmax try to come off when the blowers are drying, so i have to hand wash every time, call me lazy but it is nice to just run through the car wash in the winter to knock off the salt.
I think i am one of the few that does not like the fender extensions i find they look funny, however if it prevents any body damage im all for them. Do you have any suggestions for back up lights? The led for every other light on the jl is fantastic, the backup however is terrible
They do look nice and I’ve considered them but haven’t gone that route figuring I would probably rip them off. Much rather have the tube fenders that were on one of the Easter safari jeeps. Just haven’t seen them yet
Will I be able to fit almost 35in tires on my stock JLU Willys? I want to keep the stock height. Should I get the high clearance fenders to prevent any rubbing?
Do these fit for any Jeep Wrangler JL. I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Willy’s Unlimited Sport and im having trouble with the rear fender flares on the end close the door. Would i have to cut the fender flare to adjust it correctly or it’s supposed to fit the way it is?
@@DIRTROADCRED But what about Willy’s Fenders? . The front fender flares fit perfect. It’s the rear fender flares that are giving me a problem. Unless I have give the fender flares some heat with a heat gun to make them flexible but not sure if that will work.
UGGHHH. I was so looking forward to grabbing this, but I don’t have the Rubicon flares. Can someone confirm whether they DO or DO NOT have the same arch shape? I really want to install these on my JL Sport
@@DIRTROADCRED I DO really appreciate you doing this, though. I have some wheels with a little more poke and I think this is going to work wonders if they are the same.
They will not fit non Rubicon fenders. You would have to trim rear and remold front with a heat gun. I was about to do it but decided not to. I sold them on ebay 3x's what I paid.
@@DIRTROADCRED would you recommend a 2-inch left and performance heroes, along with the extreme recon package? Or are you just suggesting to do a 2 inch lift performance tires. My Jeep comes with a lift and nice tires on the Willis Jeep. So I'm not sure what to do exactly. Originally I wanted to get the extreme recon package custom with auxiliary buttons. However I saw this one of it local dealership law and I picked it up.
@DIRT ROAD CRED what are ur thoughts on the Trektop vs. The Trektop Ultra vs. other soft top brands? How do those hold up during the winter? Can't decide if i want a soft top or a Clearlidz, lol. TIA
I tried these on my 2011 JK….. fenders did not have quite the same contour as the recon extensions…I have since removed them. anybody make these to fit the JK fenders..??
I think this is the guy that did the Mopar suspension lift video and didn't tell anyone that the upper control arms had to be loosened... Suspect as a MoFo...
Perfect video. Did the entire install in 45 minutes. Thank you for the proper drill bit size! 2022 Rubicon 4xe
Awesome! Glad it helped

Yeah super easy. 5-10 mins on each one.
Save some cash for more mods!
Thank you! This helped me do the same install. I am very pleased, and no more side Jeep splatter.
Glad it helped!
I've always loved the slant back soft tops and that JL looks so good with that blue 10/10 solid
The jeep is sick! Full review coming soon!

The old rivets can be simply pushed in and pulled out with a center punch.

The extensions look great on the JL.
I think so too!
Use a 16 penny nail and push or tap nail on center of river to remove. No drill needed.

@@DIRTROADCRED ya Dave confirmed. I forgot I have weathertech front flaps that use 6th rivet. Don’t think extensions would sit flat with them

Absolutely!
Thanks for doing this. I was wondering how easy it would be. 👍🏼
Glad this could help!
What modifications need to be done to fit on a Willy’s model?
Needs to have rubicon flares
Will the plastic rivets be compatible with the JT?
They should be!
Since your dad has the limit slip rear end and you have lockers maybe you could do a comparison of the two.
Good idea!

Plastic!
