Love it!! We came over to England for the festive period and have been to 4 games w my 13 yr old twin boys….what a treat to get to be here and experience the football properly!!!
Hi Mark hope you have had a great festive time.. I know and appreciate that football is your main job can I ask have you stopped the woodland and beach videos I really miss them always looked forward to them . Andy
Hi Andy. My new years resolution is to get out on the landscape scene a lot lot more! I miss the tranquility of the woodland and the sound of the sea, and also the creative video making. I’ve got my eye on next weekend in the woods so fingers crossed🤞🏻👍🏻 Thanks for sticking with the channel👍🏻
In the past, I used to shoot all my sports photos with the Canon R3 and R5. However, I made the switch to two Canon R5 Mark II cameras, which proved to be a game changer, especially cropping images. I have avoided the R1 due to its higher cost and limited 24 MP sensor, while the R5 Mark II offers many of the same features, including Action Priority, pre-burst shooting, and fast autofocus learning. As for the question about JPGs, why shoot in JPG instead of RAW or at least CRAW? When using RAW, you can leave the Picture Style setting at Normal, as this does not affect RAW images-only JPGs, which can produce odd results. CRAW images are smaller in file size but retain full image data. To reduce ISO noise, use a shutter speed of less than 1/1250 sec at f/2.8. After a thorough batch edit in Adobe Camera RAW, you can achieve clean images to export as JPGs.
Only issue I have is with the R5 is it not having the stacked sensor like the R3 and suffering with oval balls when kicked at speed. Shutter speed wise 1/1250th is usually the absolute minimum I shoot at due to needed everything frozen. I have been forced to go down to 1250 at lower league grounds with poor lighting but on the whole, will shoot at 1/2000th when possible. RAW files aren’t an option for me. JPG is is key for quicker editing and sending on ftp. Thanks for watching👍🏻
Enjoyed the breakdown of the gameday. Much as I would love to get an RF400mm f2.8, I cant quite justify the cost right now (though after I got to try out the R3+rf400mm f2.8 combo at a canon workshop last year I was ready to sell a kidney). Have you ever used something like the 200-400f4 for sports? Cheers
Not a lens I’ve really thought about really. Really happy with the range I get on the 400 before switching to the 70-200. Plus think I’d miss the 2.8 depth👍🏻
@ oh I thought plugging in the Mac at the start was you showing you had upgraded…lol. I only have M2 Pro.. which I think handles things just fine so far. 😁
Thanks Mark -I did the programme picture on Saturday - hadn't done one for ages so was nice to see something different.
Ah nice one👍🏻
@@MarkKerton Copied you in on twitter (been out for 4th months with a broken ankle in case you wonder what the comment is about).

He sends pictures as he shoots them. There is almost no time to do processing during the game
Thanks Mark, another great video, just swapped from Sony to Canon. Could you share your user defined settings? I am still tinkering
Will do on the next video👍🏻
@@MarkKerton if you can do it on the 1Dx mark ii would be great, thanks mark, happy new year

Very good video! Just out of curiosity, what's your main body with the 400mm f2.8?
Thanks. I’ve got the R5 on the 400, the perfect combo I think.
Great set again. How many photos typically do you take per match.
Thanks. Well, now I’m set on 30fps it’s up to about 3000 approx. Of them, 180 ish make the cut👍🏻
You upgraded the Mac?
Unfortunately no. What’s different?

Levels were high for intro music compared to spoken content.
Ooh, I levelled all audio, strange. Thanks for heads up👍🏻
first!!
Thanks for watching👍🏻
