  • In this video I talk about the intricacies of Forward Facing Sonar and how it's not as easy as some people make it out to be. It requires a whole lot more skill than most realise. Of course I also include some pretty cool fish catches!

    Rick Clunn said the same thing about how inefficient he was at fishing compared to how efficient he can be with FFS. At 77, it's tougher on the body to make unnecessary cast in a tournament as well.

      I definitely understand that side of things, but I’m not sure where you draw the line. This has been an ongoing issue in the sport for some time now and nothings ever happened so I wouldn’t assume anything happens. I think you could possibly see some limitations but it’s not going anywhere.

    i guess i see both sides of the debate or argument. Of course, we all want to catch more bass, but when a trolling motor shaft has 3 transducers, does that not seem a little ridiculous? Does a limit not need to be set somewhere? I feel like the less relatable the professional level anglers get to the average weekend club angler, the less popular the sport will be and from where I stand, it would appear that bass fishing needs to remain relatable, and the anglers and leagues need every fan they can get. To potentially appease both sides and the electronic companies at the same time, I would support a limit. I like the idea of a single transducer per trolling motor and something like 24 inches of screen on the bow and another 24" at the console. Just to draw some type of line, but again that's just my opinion and I respect everyone's opinion. I want to see the sport grow and the anglers prosper and so whatever can make that happen I will support.

    • @joeys7519
      @joeys7519 6 месяцев назад

      Your net gains for adding another transducer is so small. You can only track and fish one at a time

    • @789Derek
      @789Derek 6 месяцев назад

      Agreed. If limited to 1, anglers would have to choose between scope and 360. It would be interesting to see what transducer anglers would go with if they were limited to just 1. I’m sure 95% of them would use FFS and the other 5% being sponsored by bird. But for now, they can have a shaft or multiple shafts with multiple transducers mounted. I just think its too much.

    • @user-sv5px3kp7j
      @user-sv5px3kp7j 6 месяцев назад

      Exactly correct, I had one and it's easy to use and get good at, this and what's coming will devastate fishing, and for those who only fish 10 times a year on lakes it will be impossible to be successful, where is the line we won't cross? Got rid of mine it made me feel less human. If we stop using them now it will take15 yrs to recover crappie, walleye, bass populations,

    Jacob,
    It doesn't make em jump in the boat easy.
    With that being said it's really not that difficult and makes the process of finding bass and catching them much more simple. Especially the deeper they are.
    So everyone watching if you don't have FFS you best get it or your going to get left behind. FFS is absolutely nessicarry if you're trying to go professional and Jacob you need stress that it's the most important tool at this time in the industry.

  • @chrism2042

    Keyboard warriors because they call BS? Fishing is challenging, but anyone that says FFS isn't an advantage is lying through their teeth. If it's not an advantage, why is it on your boat and most, if not all other tournament boats? Because if you don't have it, you can't compete with the guys that do use FFS, because they would have the advantage. OK, you may see hundreds of fish a day on the screen but can't catch them. What about "fishing" for them when you can't see them? Which way has the advantage? A wildlife resource group said they have confirmed that FFS has increased crappie catch ratio at least 1.5x, but they can't confirm FFS has increased bass catch ratio. Why did they not commit to saying FFS has increased bass catch ratio, because it's money driven by sponsors and tournaments. That's why it will not be banned from tournament bass fishing.
    All of you "professional" anglers keep pushing the use of FFS, wait until the teens good with electronics and have a large social media following which will get sponsors, replaces many tournament fishermen. It will become, who is good with electronics, not who is a good fisherman.
    I could care less if they continue to allow FFS tournament fishing, never tournament fished. I just call BS on the tournament guys that claim there are no advantages to fishing with FFS but kick and scream when banning FFS in tournaments is discussed. FFS is eliminating the need for skill and experience.
    Electronics are making people dumb, lazy and incompetent.

    • @jacobfoutzfishing
      @jacobfoutzfishing  6 месяцев назад +1

      😂😂😂😂😂 it’s absolutely an advantage. Never said it wasn’t. Just not as easy as people like you think. It’s on my bot because I love using it and I’m good at it. It’s incredibly naive of you to say it getting rid of the need for skill or experience but pop off.
