Last year I wrote 13 wishes/goals on tissue paper, and each day picked one to burn without knowing what it was, then the last one I’m responsible for. Honestly, it was a random thing I read and pretty sure it’s a fake tradition, but I really liked it. All my goals came to fruition, but it didn’t feel overwhelming like a resolution.
Today, I will be making homemade Herbal bread, oh it is soooooo delicious and some solstice cakes, I will also be drying out some orange slices to make a garland to hang on my tree...and for Yule, I will make a Yule Log cake from scratch...
In general I have found that returning to my recent ancestor's typical meals helps my stomach best. I'm also a celiac sufferer, and my heritage is heavy on the meat and potatoes in various forms and other root veggies, and those were the meals my grandparents had daily--very gluten free, surprise surprise! I think they also suffered as I do.
I’d love to see your journey with food! I’m trying to heal my relationship with food as well and gain weight as I am struggling with an ED.I absolutely love your videos and they inspire me in my own magical practice!! I’m also wondering how you got your partner more comfortable with your practice? Have a wonderful winter solstice Frankie!❤ Also instead of holly water you could also use rose of Jericho water!!
I’ve seen people use a base, plain willow wreath, and then weave stuff like evergreen branches through it. Fairyland cottage shows her wreaths in videos, although she doesn’t show how she made them.
Hi! Chef and Norse pagan kitchen witch here, lentils are naturally gluten free, so you should be just fine with regular red lentils. Solstice blessings to you and yours!
The easiest way to eat with the season is to shop at local farmers markets! I’m very lucky to live at least 40 mins away from mine and they are starting to do rituals and celebrations with the solstices and connecting with the land more it’s wonderful!
I like doing simmer pots! It’s very simple but very nice and it smells amazing! If anyone wants a recipe here’s one ive got; 1 sliced apple 2 orange slices 2-3 cinnamon sticks A cup of cranberries A teaspoon (or 2-4 whole) cloves Pine needles Ginger shavings Feel free to add or not add anything. Especially if you are allergic :)
Kitchen witchery for the win, nothing like making a dessert for a party infused with the intent to bless. The whole "made with love" making food taste better is real.
Thank you! I had no idea what to do for the Winter Solstice or what exactly it was celebrated for but now I think what's most productive for me is a nine day spell candle to help set my intentions for next year and I'll be doing the fire method as well. Christmas is something that is a little bit of a trauma thing for me and I've been ostracized from the family but I have a loving partner who I hope to live with one day who's.....kinda cute and wholesome about Christmas and my inner child aches to do family bonding, warm fuzzy thing with him one day.
I was thinking. Everyday write a goal for the new year from smallest to biggest, then on the last day, do a spell to bring it all together as well as everyday you can pray, and yeah that’s what I was thinking about doing!
I would love to see your journey with food. I am also chronically ill and tend to eat whatever I'm craving/whatever I think I can tolerate because otherwise I couldn't maintain weight, but I'm trying to eat with the seasons as much as I can. My family isn't super witchy, so the Solstice is my solitary day of fun, and Christmas is my traditional time with the family.
Hi! I'm a new witch, just trying to get into witchcraft. I'm happy to hear that somebody has similar experienced that i do. In my family, Christmas was always more about family than religion (even though they're all christian). So when i realized i'm not christian, nothing in christmas changed for me, and i'm still going to celebrate it! In a family way of course. Additionally, i want to add some witchy things to this time of the year, as well as some things from my culture. I started researching slavic culture and mythology in pre-christianity times, bc they are my ancestors. They also had a holiday like winter solstice. So i'm just mixing all of this, to create traditions that feel right for me. Thanks for this video, it certainly helped! And happy Winter Solstice:)
I made chili yesterday to have in case I didn’t feel well enough to cook on the solstice and man, it was yummy!!! Who doesn’t love a good chili? I could live off sauces, soups, and stews as well. Now I’m hungry. Lol
I’d love to see a video on healing your relationship with food. I’m in the beginning stages of trying to heal my eating disorder and it would be so inspiring to see how someone who inspires me has worked with food when they didn’t have a great relationship with it to start with. Love your content, as always ❤
For the eating in seasons thing: the best way to learn what foods are in what season, honestly I think the best thing to help is to grow a garden! You can start with something that’s simple and as you learn you can add more but honestly that’s the best way to learn hands on. My favorite saying is that there’s nothing better than a home grown tomato! I know you have some indoor plants already so you may already have a system down for those but growing a garden to eat from really helps
i miss having a fireplace we could burn our yule logs in, growing up my family always had solstice parties and instead of burning candles on the log we tied everyone’s wishes to it and then chucked it into the fire
This year for the Yule celebration I made everyone in my Circle handmade baskets with lids , that are made from Pine needles. Usually I just create something taken from ancient Egypt that is woven together from the fronds of a Palm tree.
I honestly never knew the thing about lentil soup that was so interesting! (10:31) I come from an Italian background and my Nonna always makes lentil soup around this time but I didn't know the significance of it. Thank you so much! P.S: lentils are part of the Bean family so they make a great source of protein but are naturally gluten free. Also the way my Nonna makes it is she puts the Lentils, Celery, Carrots, Tomato Sauce, garlic and oil on a low simmer for 45 minutes to an hour. Also make sure to wash lentils beforehand and soak them in water the night before. It makes them tender.
If you want some crafty ideas, Alwyn Oaks channel is fantastic, she does a lot of easy crafts to do with witchyness and does it using cheap or free things so it's all accessible 🖤
Happy solstice! I am making pot roast for a special dinner and of course making some paper snow flakes because I have done that on the winter solstice every year since 5.
Please do more videos on your food journey! I’m in the same position of needing to repair a relationship with food, due to a few years of bad health. Hope your journey of reconstruction positively influences your relationship with food!
Me and my little brother made wishing pinecones yesterday, we wrote down our wishes for the new year on small pieces of paper, rolled them up and put them i a pinecone and threw the pinecones in the fire
The Christmas spooky music be hitting different top tier. 🖤💃 I made the best alcoholic hot chocolate of my life with offered up marshmallows to a few of the Deities I work with. I offered marshmallows and afterwards I ate/used some of them in my hot chocolate.
I really enjoyed this video ! I had such big plans for this yule as it would have been my first celebration ever for me as a beginner ! Unfortunately, it came down to me having a chest infection and continuous migraines and not being able to do all that I had in mind. I am currently on antibiotics and getting better everyday, but I am physically pretty weak and out of breath without me doing much. On the other side, I did felt better today and was able to bake some braided wholewheat bread that turned out delicious ! Writing my 2023 goals right now, at 00:08 London time because I am not sleepy yet. I wish everyone has a blessed Yule/Christmas and Winter Solstice. May 2023 bring health, happiness and good fortune !
Something I like to do during the solstice is carol in this forest that's close to my home. I'm not sure why but it feels like something I'm just supposed to do.
Same! There is no Christ in my Christmas. We just get together and enjoy each other. It took my super Christian grandma to get use to it, but she finally got into the spirit.
Alcohol free/grape free festive drink alternative: mulled/spiced apple cider. Try to find pressed apple cider, heat it up with some cinnamon, (and whatever else tickles your fancy), it’s lovely! Would work with apple juice too, but better with cider.
"Do you want me to make a vid-" YES FRANKIE!! More videos plz!! And yes for food videos too. Always down to watch some cooking and hearth related content too :3

Trader Joe's has a gluten free lentil soup. If you want to make it from scratch, there's a bunch of RUclips videos on it. Thanks very much for the video. Have a great holiday! : )
This year I just Light candles on Yule and I clean. Because in The German folklore the home must be clean for the Rauhnächte (twelfthtide) otherwise bad spirits that roam with the wild hunt can hide and can bring sicknes in the new year.
Love this magical time of the year!! thank you for another inspiring and calming video! As always, thank you for sharing your gifts with us♥, And very Happy Holidays to you and your family!
My friend and I made some manifestation jars on the solstice and I did a tarot reading the morning after. Lots of pentacles and blockage removals coming! I would have done more but my car battery died to the vortex so I can't go anywhere without a carpool 😅
this is such a fun vid!! i found this "12 days of yule" thing and i wanted to try it and modify it according to what i usually do for the winter holidays. it's been hard to really do anything related to yule because of school work, but i'm almost done :') christmas eve, i'm planning on baking lots of gingerbread cookies and bread (kitchen witch lookin ass) and giving them out to friends and family. i love decorating the home with wreaths, cinnamon/fir scented candles, and ofc the tree. i wanted to get a yule log this year but i wasn't able to find anything affordable or real lmao most of the birch logs i've been looking for have been fake :/ also! i would love a vid about your relationship with food! i have a rough relationship with food and have been getting better over the years (my partner has been a huge help) but it's still hard sometimes. happy solstice!
I saw an awesome tip about the yulelog is to hit up a Xmas tree stand and ask to take away the ends they hack off the bottom of the tree. Big box stores were also mentioned to find free yulelog hunks. Bc it's trash for them :) I'm going to be pampering myself cozy today on the solstice. Shower, take the polish off my toes, the extra good lotions! Simmer pot... gonna get a little yulelog thing going on (gotta go out into cold to trim an evergreen for that!) . We swooped some giant pinecones so those are on the mantle with green and red tissue paper. Some butter cookies. Planning on roasting a turkey quarter with smashed tators. Got some cranberry cocktail juice that's asking to be spiced, then I'll have to spike it :) Farmers market will be a great way to see what's in season in your area or if you can find a CSA. Those boxes you can sign up from a farm co-op and they send you a box of veg ( heard some places have incorporated some crafts too, like chapstick or farm made hot sauce). Merry Solstice, Frankie! 🌲🕯️🎆🕯️🌲 I vacuumed yesterday lol
Omg you’re so sweet when you speak Italian ^__^ blessings to you too! This year I’m not really enjoying the cold so these days are going to be just contemplative for me. But I’ve always been in love with the figure of Santa Claus, to the point that one of my life goals is to become like him! XD Then I found out that he is probably connected to Odin, a deity I was working with lately, so my fangirling skyrocketed u.u Ps. In my house we sometimes hang little red or green bags with lentils inside, decorated with small pine cones and sparkly ribbons! You could try something like this if you cannot eat them ;) Buon Natale e felice anno nuovo!!!❤️💚❤️💚
For holy water, how about meditating and praying with your favorite saint or Divine existence in mind, than blessing your water through visualizing holy energy infusing the water?😊 Happy Winter Solstice!!!!!❤️🎄🌟
So many holidays! I’ve been celebrating Hanukkah and I’ll be celebrating the solstice, Christmas (not religiously), and new years! For a way of cleaning I’m going to steal the Christmas bell and just jingle it all over the apart with the windows open and have the air circulate a bit before blasting the heat then I’ll probably do a simmer pot to set intentions for the new year!
Witches please don’t burn cinnamon if you have animals, it can make them really sick, I didn’t realise until recently and I’ve been burning cinnamon incense but it’s apparently bad for your dogs especially 😭💔
They’re all cross contaminated due to processing - I am unable to eat foods that are processed on the same equipment as wheat, barley, rye, or oats. I am aware that they are legumes. If you know of a lentil brand that doesn’t list being produced on the same equipment of any of the above, please let me know.
Thrive Market has GF lentils. It's pricey for the sub but I get my money back saving on shipping and discounts. As a GF with food allergies I love their products.
Had this question for a while (it's not specifically Solstice related) but does snow have the same properties as rain? I live somewhere where it is cold around this time and i'm just curious. Appreciate the activities in this videos as well. Thanks! :)
Glad to see non-wiccan traditions. Currently, I'm trying to find paths that are specifically not wiccan. Quite frankly, I'm not into worshipping gods/goddesses or the whole celebrating samhain/beltaine etc. Also, I recently read some of the Utterly Wicked book and now I know why you suggested not practicing some of those spells. I looked at the Yemaya spell where the book said to offer a fish to her. It was an immediate red flag, because from my research that is not an acceptable offering for her. (Someone practicing the Yoruba religion, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Hi Shar! Yes, that’s one of the spells that was a big red flag to me. I really only still recommend the book because of its in depth information on graveyard etiquette, but I’m always looking for a replacement book.
Why not pick a bit from several places and make your own? My best friend is Catholic and works with archangels but incorporates wicca spells into her practice. Wicca has many resources that don't include the God and Goddess, like many spells. I myself am a druid/Celtic pagan and I started as an atheist druid, and practically all the books I've read and the course I'm taking does not include deitywork. It does include a lot of animism and contact with nature, but you don't have to include deity, magic or seership unless you want to. So maybe some of the literature on druidry could help you create your own path.
@@ShuichiZero Well, I have been doing so for years. It's incredibly difficult to find non-wiccan or christian influenced paths. I don't like wicca as whole. It never resonated well with me. I don't call myself pagan either. I would love to find Taoist shamans but they are not in my area. What's on youtube is mostly philosophy. So I'm in a lull and for now practicing self-discipline is my focus. The only issue that I find with making it up as you learn is that sometimes traditions add weight and energy to things.
@@sharky6404 I don't like wicca either, I never connected with the obligation to worship the god and the goddess. Check other sources, maybe you can find other things on the internet outside of youtube. I don't have anybody nearby who isn't Catholic, Cristian or Jew, so the internet can be a big help but not an easy one sometimes. I wish you the best on your path, it's sounds very interesting. I love shaman paths and they are really different depending on the path. I'm sure you'll get there.
I don’t see why not! Water is also purifying, and it has a healing aspect to it as well. This could be implemented into the ritual! You can also dispose of pieces of paper (make sure they are biodegradable) in running water.
Hey, Frankie I have a question for you and I was wondering if you could help. I've heard that winter time is a time where witches magick is at a low or weak state because it's the dead season, but my powers are acting opposite to the norm. Winter is the time of year when my magick is at an all time high. I see triple and double numbers, weird positive coincidences that play in my favor without me doing anything to manifest it into my life, what little spell work I do happen to do during the season ends up working decently well, and weird good luck when I do want immediate manifestation to happen... I was wondering why my magick is like this during winter time, I'm not against it because it's a good thing but I'm curious to understand why that is... This has happened the past three winters and I thought it was normal until I found out it wasn't...
I haven’t heard about winter being a “weak period”! I don’t feel as though blanket statements like that make much sense, since every witch’s practice is different. Feeling powerful and in touch with your magic in the winter is fantastic! Don’t let anyone tell you that all witches experience something unanimously.
@@ChaoticWitchAunt thank you for the advice, I was kind of concerned as to why I seem to be thriving during winter but at least it isn't something uncommon and isn't odd. I thought that all spiritual beings including witches were weakened during winter.
I've very noob, but I also make mine. How do you do yours? I don't do the more well-known Catholic holy water, but I know Catholics can do that and so I don't see why pagans can't do our own, in different ways, according to need.
@@ShuichiZero well you know about the experiments made by Masaru Emoto? Water registers the vibrations of sound and changes his harmonious structure based on what is being communicated. Like hate words makes chaotic water design and love words beautiful symmetric design. If you use this knowledge you could literally inform water by talking/chanting to it and it will be registered in its structure! I cannot imagine a more holy water than this!
@@silviamariposa This has been debunked by science. The first time I saw this was in the pseudoscience documentary What the bleep do we know and this effect was tried by many physicists, so it is fake. I don't go that route because that is not true and I think it is way different than a blessing or an intention. It would be so cool if it were true but the downside is anyone with depression would probably be dead because of the high percentage of water we have and the excess of sad thoughts.
The fact your dog and their name is the same as Yoga with Adriene’s. 🥹💜 wonderful video with perfect timing! This was extremely helpful, thank you for all the wonderful information! Happy winter solstice! ❄️

I'm going to be pampering myself cozy today on the solstice.
Got some cranberry cocktail juice that's asking to be spiced, then I'll have to spike it :)
Farmers market will be a great way to see what's in season in your area or if you can find a CSA. Those boxes you can sign up from a farm co-op and they send you a box of veg ( heard some places have incorporated some crafts too, like chapstick or farm made hot sauce).
Merry Solstice, Frankie! 🌲🕯️🎆🕯️🌲
I vacuumed yesterday lol
Grazie mille, Silvia!!!! Buone Natale ❤️❤️
😂 I bark at my dogs too 🖤
I'm so mad at myself I told myself I was going to celebrate winter solstice and then went to my Nana's but thanks for the video
That's okay! Some of these things could be done on the New Year as well.
Trader Joe's sells fresh green pine leaves for really cheap..
And then you can go to like the 99 cent store to purchase like pine cones and stuff 😊😊
Ain’t the Epiphany on the 6th of Jan?
I celebrate hannukah, christmas, and yule as these are the ones my family just does! my dads yule log cake is the friggin best!
Have you considered growing yourown lentils? They only reason theyare not gluten free is due to cross contamination.
This is something I’ve thought about! Colorado is notoriously arid and many plants have difficulty here, but I do want to try it.
Lentils are naturally gluten-free soooo any lentil should work. It's a legume, not a grain.
Thanks! :)
Epiphany is typically Jan 6. I’m a former Catholic turned pagan lol
Grazie!
@@ChaoticWitchAunt If I come across one, or hear anything about it from the elders in this area, I will let you know.
Can you use like instead of fire for the fire rituel use water in a bowl and after it drained it down the toilet. Cause I can't use fire
I don’t see why not! Water is also purifying, and it has a healing aspect to it as well. This could be implemented into the ritual! You can also dispose of pieces of paper (make sure they are biodegradable) in running water.
@@ChaoticWitchAunt thank you!!
I make my own holy water…. And I the only one?
Love that you roasted ppl in ur insta story to promote this video T-T XD
You can actually bless the water yourself to make holy water
Gluten-free lentils😂. Now I've heard it all.
(There is no gluten in lentils. I suspect you're allergic to the chemicals used in farming. Try organic.)
No, I’m allergic to the cross contamination from the lentils being processed with gluten-containing grains. Organic isn’t the issue.
Here! Grew up Catholic (husband, too), have two small kiddos (one goes to Catholic school, of all places😂) so we’re celebrating Christmas.
lmaoo one thing about older folk practitioners is that they’re always gonna say “thats just what you do” to downplay how witchy their practices are 😂
Right?!?!
The fact your dog and their name is the same as Yoga with Adriene’s. 🥹💜 wonderful video with perfect timing! This was extremely helpful, thank you for all the wonderful information! Happy winter solstice! ❄️
