  • Here's a total rig rundown of everything Cody does to catch giant spots. This technique is NOT just for CA spotted bass - it WILL WORK in any clear-water lake in the country for any species of bass! Here's his gear:
Strike King Rage Swimmer (electric shad): bit.ly/SKRageSwim
1/4-oz Owner Ultrahead ball head jig with 2/0 hook: bit.ly/OwnerBal...
6-8 lb Seaguar Flash Green braid (he uses that now - bit.ly/SmackFlG...) to Seaguar InvizX fluorocarbon (bit.ly/InvizX)
7' 4" M Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS signature Spinning Rod: bit.ly/TatElite...
Daiwa Tatula LT Spinning Reel: bit.ly/TatLTSpi...

I live 30 mins from Smith lake. It held 3 WR from 60’s and 70’s. It’s still possible to get 8 pounders. I know there are still 9 and 10’s somewhere. But it’s doubtful someone will ever pull 3 out over 9 like y’all did. That was amazing. 👍🏼

Man I live fairly close to smith and hardly ever fish there. Wheeler has been good to me on the exact bait he's talking about. Maybe I need to try it at smith....🤔

I fish for spots in NC the same way with line watching high vis braid on finesse gear, but they aren't that deep here and they aren't that big.
