Cody Meyer's Potential World Record Spotted Bass

  • Last week the industry was taken by storm by yet another double-digit spotted bass of World Record Proportions! Cody Meyer was out fishing with good friend, JR Wright when a truly massive spotted bass made a mistake and found herself swimming laps in Cody's livewell.
    Cody reported catching the trophy bass on...
    Strike King Ocho: bit.ly/2ivHOMd
    Seaguar 6 lb Tatsu Fluorocarbon: bit.ly/2idXEeh
    Daiwa Tatula Spinning Rod: bit.ly/2hGfiaU
    Daiwa Exist Spinning Reel: bit.ly/2ivK7z3
    Scale Used: bit.ly/2f7QgQ9
    Camera Used: bit.ly/2dBKx8O
    Cody is well known for his history of bass fishing tournament victories on spotted bass fisheries as well as his exploits into trophy spotted bass fishing but today he would break his own record, catching one of the world's largest spotted bass at 10.80 pounds. Whether this bass becomes a world record or not, its truly a fish of a lifetime!
    Tacticalbassin's own Tim Little (current IGFA Spotted Bass World Record Holder) got the call from Cody that he had caught a monster spot, possibly even the new world record spotted bass, and needed help with the proper procedures.
    Tim immediately grabbed the scales and hit the road, much like he had done for Wes Roberson nearly a year earlier when Wes landed his 11.00lb Spotted Bass that is still under review as the potential IGFA World Record Spotted Bass.
    That is where the video begins... we hope you enjoy seeing one of the largest spotted bass ever caught!

    To me, the greatest part about the video, obviously besides the absolute giant spots, is the love JR has for Cody. Cody is not only blessed in the game of bass fishing, but more importantly in the game of life, for having such an awesome "father figure", as he put it, to share the boat with all these years.

    What a phenomenal accomplishment so glad to see it happened to a guy like Cody. its good to know that the record is held by guys who have put in the blood sweat and tears in this sport. big shout out to Tim as well for your part in trying to make it all official and recording it for the world to see. Congrats to all of you!

    The possible new record is great! What is even greater is the sportsmanship shown by all involved! I'm 67 years old and the one thing that has turned me off by so many has been the lack of that sportsmanship by many in this field so I want to THANK YOU ALL for restoring an old man's faith there are still GREAT MEN in this sport!

    that may be the official record but the guys on stokedonfishing caught one that had at least three lbs on this fish. they got it on video and weighed it on multiple scales but were denied the record because they didn't weigh it on land. congrats to Cody though that is a beautiful fish.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад +9

      Thanks for chiming in Kelly but everything is not always as it seems. The largest bass that has been submitted is not stoked on fishing, its Wes Roberson and its currently under review. If anything goes wrong with that then Cody's fish will be in line. Only time will tell, its out of all of our hands and under review by the organizations in charge of these things.

    • @FoothillsofFreedom

      TacticalBassin yeah I know I didn't say it was the world record just that it was a bigger fish. Im not trying to bash this dude's fish because Jesus that thing is a monster, but I just wanted to bring that video to light because they caught an 11lb 6oz spotted on that video.

      TacticalBassin what did wes' fish weigh ?

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад +6

      Kelly, sorry I wasn't clear, we're not in anyone's corner on this... just making sure all the fish are brought up. Stoked on Fishing's fish went mid 11's on a few scales. Those scales weren't accurate enough to be certified so there is room for variance. Wes's fish did the exact same thing but when it got on a certfied scale it went 11.0. There was no youtube video so most people don't know about Wes Roberson's fish but that is (In our opinion) the largest spot to date. Its still under review so there is no way of knowing if that fish or Cody's fish will take the record or if Tim's will hold strong. Lots of giants caught this past year that's for sure!!

    Tim, you guys really need to take a trip up to whiskeytown lake, the lake has lots of spots in the 10+ range that occasionally eat a tater hog. It would be a cool to see you guys fish for giant spots in somewhere else than bullards. Come when the water is muddy because the lake has 30 foot visibility and the fish are leary. Or come during spawning season. Thanks- Tyler

    Anyone know of any decent largemouth spots outside of the Fresno area? There isn't much in Fresno and I'm willing to drive to some decent spots if anyone has decent recommendations. I'm not asking for anyone to give up secret spots, but I'd like more info considering I've been trapped in Fresno fishing for largemouth for the past few months. Any info would be appreciated

      was suppose to hit New Melones today, but my 2yr old boy ended up in the ER last night ( allergic reaction, but he's okay ). Any tips for when I do get out to New Melones ?

    Wait. Did he get the world record? This was truly amazing to watch

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  7 лет назад

      The world record process takes a great deal of time. No one will know for 6 months to a year despite the early reporting that it was official. What we know for sure, Wes Roberson submitted an 11.0 for review, Cody's is 10.8 but in addition to the All-Tackle world record there are line-class world records. So we will see :-)

    Is this body of water on a river or creek? Or is it a trapped body of water? How large is the area of water? Are these animals fed ? Can the animals migrate? Where exactly is this body of water located and what is the name of it?
