Thanks for this video. Last year I suddenly started experiencing chronic Tinnitus or "ringing in the ears." I had know idea of how BAD AND TORMENTING this illness can be. It affects your mood, sleep habits and is just so annoying. Some people who have suffered from Tinnitus have either felt like committing suicide or have done so. A famous incident of hearing loss happened when William Shatner started suffering from Tinnitus from just one explosion while filming a Star Trek show set. See Mr. Shatner here: William Shatner speaks about his tinnitus WEAR YOUR HEARING PROTECTION PLEASE!!!

I still use the blue ones you first displayed originally bought in 1980 when i first started shooting. They have served me well.

As a drummer in my younger and dumber years, I am here to tell ya that hearing loss as the result of repetitive loud noise is a very real thing. Even today, if I thought I needed to shoot an intruder in my house, I think I might have to ask him to wait while I "put my ears on". :-)

Thanks for sharing your thought on ear protection. I already have some hearing loss due to not wearing any protection in the old days as you stated. i do double up but after watching this video I think i might have to get a better pair of ear protection as you have shown with the different models. So thanks again for sharing your info on this subject! 🇺🇸🔫👍

I finally broke down and bought a MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X headset, I got them from Sweden through a distributor there. I went to High School with a Foreign exchange student from Sweden that I have kept in touch with, I sent her the money and she got them and shipped them to me. Because of the exchange rate I got them shipped for just over $200, I was considering the Peltor Tactical Sports with Gel inserts, but for $30 or so more I got the MSA Sordins, and I couldn't be happier. They work great, but have really taken on more of a status symbol in the shooting community which does bother me, because although they are great, they do have some irritating negatives that get overlooked. MAC showed how they give a funny feedback when not on your head, and I have heard complaints about them going down during a long day of shooting, although the warranty is 5 years. I will probably buy a pair of Peltor TAC Sports just in case.

For $40 the Howard leight impacts are nice but since they use clipping technology, talking while shooting is almost impossible since it takes a few seconds for the sound to come back through the mics. I also have issues sometimes with the cups staying in place with a hat on

I own the Howard Leight sport model and I've found them to be inadequate for indoor ranges. I also use ear plugs in conjunction with the ear muffs and it's still not enough to keep that guy next to you with the .45 ACP from rattling your skull while you have these on. They may work just fine outdoors but my experience indoors with them is poor.
I actually became frustrated and bought a cheap pair of 3M ear muffs that really muffle noise. True you cannot hear what's going on around you but they do keep your ears safe in that environment.
If you really want quality noise cancelling muffs then you are not going to get them cheap, as I found out the hard way. You will have to pay the premium for something that actually works.

There is a newer model from HL, the "Howard Leight Impact Pro", it's pretty fat and bulky, but it's electronic with a 30 db NRR,

Solution to ear pro. End the NFA and buy a suppressor.

Are you going to buy one for everyone else around you? If so, let me know so I can get one too! :p

Even with a suppressor and AR-15 has the sound of a 9mm which is still able to damage an ear
I agree with you suppressors are good but you still must use hearing protection even with a suppressor
