I work at an indoor gun range and have used these ear pro in the past. If you spend extensive time shooting indoors, I recommend going with something more robust, or double up with foam plugs.
Tend to agree. I have extensive time with these in outdoor ranges and they work just fine in that environment.
@@ronwilliams329 I have been using them for a year now, I always double up. Only get one pair :)
I plan to do alot of indoor shooting, what exactly should I buy?
@Gray Au I just used earmuffs when going to my permit to carry class and the Glock that fired .22 was still loud. I don't plan on having the hearing of a vet.
@Gray Au For fucks sake I didnt say I will not double up.
NRR 21 is not enough for anything above .22 LR unless you double up on the hearing protecting by inserting at least NRR30 earblugs and then place the earmuffs above them, at which point you have just barely enough protection for outdoor use of .223, as well a shotguns.
There are currently no commercially available heading protection that can bring noise levels down to a safe level to use a .223 or a shotgun indoors. (unless you attach a suppressor in addition to using the foam earplugs as well as earmuffs)
Love the addition of 5 min Friday’s! More content for us, and not aaaas much work as longer videos
Recently found your channel, commented on what ear protection you use on your last video, and so happens that my comment made it on your video at the beginning! Keep up the great work!
I use to work in an industrial environment and ear protectors were issued, but have heard now that in-ear foam plugs should have been worn with the over ear protectors. Therefore if you were to use the loan in-ear plugs with over ear protectors the db rating of protection would be far better.
I was doing a Walmart ammo run, and I saw those ear protection head set, and I remembered this video about these headsets. So I picked them up. Used them at an indoor and then an outdoor range. And they are awesome! Thank you for the indirect recommendation 😂👌🏼
Brendan Quinlan you saw these peltor at Walmart?
@@derekquinones8614 yes Walmart carries these and the Tac 100s
These are awesome. I added an Anker Bluetooth module to the earpro and now I got Bluetooth capability. Used a camo wrap to hide the cable and stow the Bluetooth unit.
Of all the electronic hearing protection I've used I find that the real challenge is indoor hand gun. I opted for the Peltor Tac 500s even tho they are kinda pricey they flat out work indoors. Also they have e adaptive learning so when you move from say an indoor environment they learn the decibel range your in and adjust the sound profile accordingly. That being said I have no issues using my walker razors outdoors. But indoors The Peltor Tac 500s work!
Thank you for writing this, I was just about to go for the Peltor 100 and your comment sent me down the path of educating myself on NRR values. Looks like even the expensive comtac 3 would require double hearing protection where the 500 just gets you into the zone of single hearing protection
Thanks for the review. Ordered the Peltor Sport Tactical 500.
Agree. I have peltor 100s and walker razors. Peltors do have better sound
You like the sound because those are a rare breed. The Peltor Sport tac Rangeguard (lowest model) runs on an analogue electronics system, whereas the 100,300,500 and most other electronic ear pro are digital, which allows for fancier stuff, but can sound different, have some latency, etc.
I got the Peltor Shotgunner. Not electric, but still $20 at Walmart. Definitely saved my ears when I sighted my 30-06 in for deer season.
I have been using these too. They fit my head great are cheap and function well.
The gel cups snap into the Tactical 100. I didnt peel them, just unsnap and snap gels in. It does require a lil patience and holding you tongue right ! The gel cups are the best
Always wondered what earpro you were rocking. Looks like a good set! I’ve got a pair of Howard’s that need the gel cups and a pair of pro for sure for the wife. Great video and looking forward to all the content! Keep up the good work!
Noisefighter gel cups. Check em out
I love mine too. I preach all the time about how good they sound.
If one values their hearing long term they should probably wear ear plugs along with these active cups, especially if at an indoor range and/or shoot a lot. But this sort of negates the value of these products doesn’t it? Guess there’s no perfect solution. Good review, tnx.
Talon, you can replace the ear cups on those Peltors. Noisefighters make some awesome gel earcups that will go on them.
Thanks, Talon. You just introduced me to the TAC 100's as well as the Walker brand. I never found good, affordable electronic earpro. 5-minute Fridays...!
Lol, I literally just picked up a pair during black Friday for $35 at Wally World (Walmart). Love them
Just purchased this ear defender. Will see...
I might try those. Thanks for the review. I have the Peltor Tactical Sport 97451 set right now but they are kind of bulky and dated.
Same ones I wear and they work great.
got the same they rock, keep them coming Talon
I leave this under every video I watched, it helps the algorithm..
Stoked and ready for the new content bring it on talon!!
I personally prefer Pro Ears Pro Tac Gold.
Love the shirt, keep up the good work. 👍🏼👍🏼👊
I love 5 min friday, great video as always, i also wanted your opinion on sling systems ......good idea for a 5 min video
They are great set I would not change mine at all.
Cool edit with the sound bro
What I use. Love them. Fit tight for skinny heads and low profile. Plus they look tacticool as shit!
Cheap Implies low quality or junk. l (Taiwanes). " Affordable" translates smoother . Just like you Bro. Keep Plown🦉
awesome i am new at this stuff and these videos are a big help
Thanks man, I’m getting these
Good stuff! Keep up the great work Talon!🤙
What do you think about the Peltor Tactical 500 model ?
Keep doing your thing tee
22 NRR isn't nearly enough protection when you're shooting shotguns.
You should do like a top gift ideas for xmas for men? or gun related? or cool stuff from the likes of travax or that neat jacket you had with all the pockets. lol be interesting to watch and give me ideas for my girlfriend for my xmas list haha
When these are turned up in quite areas, do you notice a slight static/airflow noise?
Quiet noises are amplified, but it still sounds good. Not tinny like some others I've compared them too.
Question ; Would these be worth using at a public range , where someone is almost constantly shooting ? Would seem they would be constantly cutting in and out . Good review as always.
They are pretty quick, maybe not quick as a digital set since these are analog but they work just fine for me
@@TalonSei Thanks for the quick response !! I've been a shooter/ hunter for 45+ years and have never had electronic hearing pro. , but I'm going to try these bad boys . Thanks Bro !!
Hey Talon,
Can you tell which direction the sound comes from with these? Left/Right?
I find that quite important.
Appreciate your help and all your videos!
Excellent
#dopestvloginthegame
Good Stuff!!! Hope Turkey Day!! Went well with Family. N Friends!!!
Noise fighters.
Theyre nice but they cost more than the ear muffs themselves. For total cost invested you could get a nicer set
@@Gillysaurxx Which nicer sets? Thanks
These will fit perfect under an ACH if anyone is wondering.
Howard's cushion leave a gap by my jaw line. The foam looks really similar. Anyone have that kind of problem with these head phones?
The Howard gap is real. These Peltor RGs hug your jaw under the ears better.
Cant wait for that scorpion vid 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Good video
Whoa I'm watching episode 314 on 3/14
Where can I find that shirt?
Hi Talon ❤️
Any thoughts about ear plugs like the "3M combat Arms"?
I always used earplugs when shooting outdoors... just got a cheap $10 pair of 25db muffs at Walmart.. mostly for my daughter just for shooting .22. I used then with my 9mm and my AR15...i was surprised at how little i could hear. I could actually hear the slide moving on my pistol more than the bullet. Tried with my shotgun... still very little heard. With you guys spending serious money on these things for higher db ratings.. plus using plugs. Exactly how little of the sound do you need? I'm seriously asking. .. the music in my car, barely on 1/3 max.. is louder than what i hear in these. Plugs were enough before.. but these are great... so how is spending more better?
If I understand your question, I think the value of the e-pro is that you're not deaf while you're protecting yourself from going deaf. The electronics amplify ambient sound that is below a certain decibel threshold. It helps even if you double-up with earplugs, IMO.
Is it appropriate if I use them just to cancel the noise around me whilst studying?
Dude where you get the man shirt ?
when you turn it all the way up will it still cut out weapon fire sound?
No, that's not how they work. It will not "augment" sounds above 85 dB, but you're still going to have the sound penetrate the earmuffs. The actual protection rating is what determines how much of the weapon fire sound your ears receive. Generally, you can expect earmuffs like these to reduce sound levels by 10 to 15 dB. It's not that much really. Consider that a 5.56 round is about 156 dB, you're ears are still being hit with 140 to 145 dB, which is enough to cause damage to your hearing over time.
@Cool N Chill I would recommend doubling up. Have in ear plugs and over ear muffs for maximum protection.
The exact brand isn't so important, but pick ones with good reviews and solidly tested specifications.
Have you used these at an indoor range and would 21 nrr be enough for that?
I need to get me some good ear pro like these. I just use disposable earplugs. They work, but probably not as well.
You still finding these to be the go to?
Cool volume comparison!!! Was that simulated or recorded off the actual ear speakers? At that price, I think I'll get 2 pairs...keep the extra one in my range bag...back-up, for a friend, etc.
Just simulated as best as I could to get it the right "feel"
will this work for indoor range?
Will these fit a large head?
Are they directional can you identify the location of the sounds
Yes.
Where did you get the shirt!?!?! Gotta have it syndrome going on here!
Man Sports! I have a discount code too "Talonsei" 👍🏻
OOHH snap, I was the last comment, sweet!!! Awesome video btw hahaaa
Wats up with Roger. He hasn’t posted a vid in awhile
