    Hey, just wanted to stop by to let you know that this was the video that convinced me on the Howard Leight’s over the Razors! All of these sellouts on RUclips were pushing these, and it was really tempting with the bogo Walker’s has going on.
    The directional audio is so worth it. I got gel cups and they’re perfect for my needs and sound good enough to me. I will say, the Walker’s definitely look cooler, but not having directional audio was a dealbreaker.

      100% I do wish my HL were a bit tighter around my ears. I haven't tested the Quad Razors but can't justify paying 50% more to get Razors with stereo.

    Great review, thank you.
    Well chit, i already bought the Walker muffs. I would have preferred the Leight stereo muffs.
    Direction of sound coming at you can make a huge difference if you know what side its coming from ahead of time.
    I guess i`ll just go get the Leight`s muffs and see if i like them better. If they really ARE, truly better sound, for me, i`ll just give the Walker muffs to a friend.

      Get a pair Leights when they're on sale (Black Friday is coming soon) and keep your Walkers for loaners.

    I bought a pair of Walker's Razoe Slim as an extra pair for the range bag. They were on sale. Our go to muffs are the Howard Leight. I just put the batteries in the Walker's. After 10 minutes of wearing them, they're very comfortable,even with the stock pads. I upgraded all of our Leight's muffs with those fancy and over priced Gel Pads, and they're much more comfortable now. There's a HUGE difference in these two brands IMO. The Leight's are designed so much better when it comes to what noise they block out, it's an apples and oranges deal to me. The Walker's pick up literally every sound, including wind noise which renders them pretty useless compared to the Leight's. Our range has moderate to high winds 85% of the time. The Leight's block out the wind noise so much better. I don't regret buying the Walker's, because now we have an extra set of muffs which is always a good thing. 36$ on a Labor Day sale which is considerably less money than the Howard Leight's we bought. So all in all, if I had to pick just one, Howard Leight hands down for me. This stuff is all 100% subjective though, so there's that.

    i have the walker razor slim, all i can say is get the gel ear pads. they make a world of difference. i also wear plugs and the walkers. just like i wear plugs inside my motorcycle helmet. at 50mph i can't hear my harley for the wind noise. for the range it takes a moment for the muffs ( all of them ) to cut out. the plugs help with that moment.

    Hello everyone
    I'm enormously sensitive to all kinds of loud noises and the older I get, the more so, especially those noises coming from loud modern music, cars, people shouting and the like, my favourite music being complete silence.
    The ear protection
    I've been looking for, and I do not care how much they might cost, ought to allow me to study, read and write comfortably and in complete silence without having my ears and my brain exposed to what I call "auditory trash" which not merely hinder me from staying focusd but also causing harm to my well-being.
    I have heard about electronic ear muggs. Do you think they would be an option for me?
    I would appreciate indeed all kinds of sensible suggestions.
    Many thanks
    M.A.

    • @Moondog2A
      @Moondog2A  3 месяца назад

      For noise isolation these shooting earmuffs won't work for you because they are designed to allow normal noise through but only cut-out the outside world when the loudness level gets above ~80db.
      You're looking for simple non-electronic kind used for construction. Like this: amzn.to/46bRvIN
      Or if you like listening to music, you could try active noise canceling types like this one by Havit: ruclips.net/video/eT67pkJHRSQ/видео.html

    I think the walkers have amplification for the auxillary port but it is not adjustable for longer batt life. I got the lipo model so I would have preferred a bit more amplification but then you wouldn't be using them as appropriately.

    • @LectricLetus
      @LectricLetus 2 года назад +1

      @@Moondog2A I believe I read somewhere 120 hours but that might have been for the standard model I believe these may have more life because the sound from the auxiliary port is only lightly Amplified and constant so you can't turn it up any higher from the earmuffs themselves but I haven't had them long enough to know for certain

    I think I'll end up going with the Howard Leights. They've been around forever and always get good reviews. I was checking out Peltor's affordable options but they seem to be very poorly made, which is unfortunate for such a well regarded brand.

    • @Moondog2A
      @Moondog2A  2 года назад +1

      I agree with you, the low-end Peltors aren't as good as either the Leights or Walkers budget offerings. The high-end Peltors are great. I'm reviewing one next month so be sure to Subscribe to be updated with that review.

      I have the Peltor Sport Tactical 500 and have mixed feelings about them. They perform fairly well in terms of ear protection, but after about an hour they get very uncomfortable. The battery life is great. I get many hours of usage between charges. Construction quality is good as well. The music level can be adjusted from your phone, so it's independent of the ambient sound amplification, which is good. However, the max volume for music is very low. You can hear it, but not as well as most would like. I got them for $95 on Prime Day and at that price I'm satisfied. I would not pay the typical $150 though.

    When Walkers 1st came out with the Quad hearing muff's I got a set on 1st release (intro sale). One side had cracked plastic where the skinny wire slid into the skinny plastic and you could separate the muff if not careful. I still wanted to review them so I took them to range. Upon 1st pull to open from stowed position, the other side completely fell off and plastic pieces fell to the ground. I had to borrow My wife's Howard Leigh's . Promptly returned the walkers and ordered my own H/L/s. Most all of the instructors I've seen at our club range wear H/L's. Thats gotta be about 10 years ago. H/Ls are going strong. tho the headband is getting quite worn.

    I liked the aesthetics of walkers so I ordered the razor slim and I thought it was defective. Very staticky. Picks up way too much irrelevant ambient noise. My own foot steps are emphasized but sounded like it was from a distance. Racking my own hand gun or rifle would sound like someone was doing it 15 feet away. Oddly it would pick up ambient noise from a distance and make it sound much closer. It was almost disorienting. So I sent it back to get a second one which had the exact problem just to realize that's just how that products is. I sent it back again and ordered the same one I had before, Peltor sports. The noise around you sound very natural without the problem of all kind of ambient noise disorienting me. Only down side and the reason I ordered the Walker when my first Peltor broke was because of the plastic ear muff handle. It's a click in style design that pops out on occasion and it can be a real pain to reinsert it back in.
