Back in the 1960's I attended Brickdam secondary school opposite the Brickdam Cathedral, there was the ladies selling custard block on the avenue between Hadfield St out of a vacuum flask for a Jill... (that big copper penny about 2" in diameter... I doubt all these ingredients used to go into making it back then)
I'm sure all these ingredients weren't in it. This is obviously a new time, we have so much more access to ingredients and resources, of course I'm going to play around with the recipe. that's what makes cooking fun and interesting. This version is way richer and delicious in my opinion. It doesn't hurt to try something different.
Hi Candy I tried this recipe Friday gone and it was so delicious, my mom says it is rich and tasted like ice cream ...the only thing is that much cannot be eaten in day but less than 3 since its animal milk.... I didn't had whole milk and almond essence so I use natura milk and 2 tablespoon vannilla essence and with a little extra nut meg because I over grate the amount you said so I didn't want the rest to waste but everything else was exact as u said
