Buffer tube lube was a big help, so was safety switch lube, as my AR feels way smoother now. Used CLP 👌🏾 Good looking out!!!
Everyone has their own process. Personally, that is about the amount of oil I use on my black powder guns. All others I run nearly dry with no issues. To each their own.

James Smullins I use the same, it’s like $3 from Walmart for a can that I’ll never kill off. The key is to avoid just slathering it on. I only grease up the rails on the BCG that are actually contacting anything, and a thin, very thin coat on the bolt and cam pin. I use the excess on the buffer spring. A bit of CLP on the trigger and hammer pins, and it’s good to go.
What happened to the famous Reid method using wheel bearing grease? It's all over my bolt carrier group from your previous vids and works great! Thank you for all you do!

The only thing I could add is, I oil/lube it and put it back together without the firing pin. Then I run 100 rounds through the action manually checking the bolt lockup, ejector and ejection. I had a 9mm with an ejector that scratched the brass. Brass has everywhere around the chamber after 30 rds. I sent the gun back for them to fix. What if the brass was pushed back into the chamber and the heated under pressure?
What about bearing grease?? An older video you did years ago, you said running it 'wet' wasn't really necessary. And I've been running mine like that with bearing grease ever since. Why did you change it up?
Glad to see that you used a lot of oil on the bolt. Several people don't know that you need to run a wet bolt ( lots of oil ) on an AR Rifle. We learned this the hard way on M-16's in Vietnam. We had jams up the butt on the Colt M-16's until we had info to come out to say we need to run wet bolts. Then most of the jams went away !!!!!!.Great Job. Bill @ Mitchell's Gunsmithing.
Good advice about a new firearm. Just be sure when you put it together that you don't pinch/bend the plunger spring when you put the buffer retaining plunger assy. back in the tube. It's easy to do and will cause an issue right away and you'll be scratching your head. Like the chemicals when you're young, love the leukemia when you're old. Take it from me. 😉 Mt time with them as a munitions systems specialist TDYs to the machine shop = a marrow transplant. Doesn't happen to everyone but it's a hell of a game of roulette.
Again, it’s up to the individual to use gloves or not, for me I take precautions and use gloves when working with any chemicals. I value my hands so I take great care of them. I have an uncle who never wore gloves and his hands are in very bad condition. He’s in constant pain especially in the winter when they crack and bleed. Lotion doesn’t even seem to help. The choice is yours. Enough of that, thanks Reid for your very informative videos!
When my wife and I were in the dating she thought I used cologne after the gun range to cover up gun powder smell. She didn’t know at the time it was hoppes #9
It happens every time you pull the trigger with one in the chamber. Think of it this way, there are 5.56 suppressors that don't come with cleaning instructions because the pressure is supposed to blow out the shite.
Clean the end of the gas tube in the upper where the charging handle is especially if the powder is corrosive (most rounds are not). But that’s only for deep cleanings.
A few years ago you recommended just using red bearing grease to lube the BCG. Have your views changed? What are your new recommendations? Thanks, as always.
@@m8driver578 I know what you're referring to, I've seen all his videos. But you asked what his new recommendations are and he say it in this video. Slip2000 30 weight.
She'll run dirty, but she won't run dry. FACTS watch Vickers Tactical, LAV says wetter is better. He even did a video where he completely saturated an AR in oil, then fired it. He ended up wearing a lot of oil but he was trying to prove a point, don't run 'em dry ! Better to have too much lube than not enough. If a Delta operator says so, listen.

What happened to the grease Reid? You move somewhere cold? ;)
I love grease in the summer, but oil in the winter.
“Hulk hogan tight”, I prefer the German way “Goodntight” lol
I must be really old! Back in the day, it was " Tighter than Dick's hat band'.

Thank you Reid!
Most important information in this video is that Reid's a Kreator fan.
Awesome video strait to the point no bs, keep up the good work, God bless💪💪👍👍
“I like the chemicals“, my man!
How often should you swab out the gas tube?
The pressure cleans it out every time you fire.
Loved the Kreator shout out!!! Good helpful video…. thanks
Everytime an AR is purchased, a baby angle is born.
Kool video. I started using Lucas gun oil. It's a polymeric oil. That means it sticks and bonds tightly to the metal. Froglube is another.
A few years ago you recommended just using red bearing grease to lube the BCG. Have your views changed?
What are your new recommendations?
Thanks, as always.

He literally says in the video.
@@Kenny762c I understand. I was referring to this:

At 8:30 of the linked video.
@@m8driver578 I know what you're referring to, I've seen all his videos. But you asked what his new recommendations are and he say it in this video. Slip2000 30 weight.
I love hoppes ! Great stuff
Good to have you back.
Wait, Reid what happened to grease my man? I been greasing my guns because of you
Me too it changed up on me what I was thinking lol
*Takes me back to the Army and doing it blind folded in less than a minute!*
This comment gave me aids
It used to take me 3 minutes to disassemble and reassemble my M60 while wearing a blind fold.
The riflemen were just amazed it could be done. 🇺🇸
@Joe Biden wants your kids to jump on his lap *A word of advise.... Always place things in the exact same order when you dismantle your rifle. It will become muscle memory after a bit.*
