I a great a great channel because of a great man with knowledge and skill gained from practical experience. A lot of new mechanics couod learn from these videos
When I was. young teenager living in Stalham, Norfolk the chap that owner a local garage called Charioteers owned one. In those days (early 1970's) it was just an old car. The sound that it made when he took it along the by-pass was just amazing! And never forgotten. Just looking at it was breathtaking.
250 Pininfarina coupes are gorgeous but i cant blame anyone for changing the body to a California Spyder. For me the SWB version with covered headlights is the most beautiful car ever. Period. Just perfection. And the sound of the Colombo V12 is simply divine. I hope i see one in person before i die.
As usual Ivan, you are so right, "who needs a radio or sound system when you can listen to such beautiful music made by the car". I never listen to the car sound system while driving my sports car. Matter of fact I removed the radios completely from both of my S type Jags and my E type when I had them, they sound so sweet when they're on full song.
What a fabulous car! A few days driving it around Italy would be magical. I will try not to be jealous as I drive my rattling heap to the store and buy some cans of ravioli to console myself... All the very best from Canada!
I knew nothing about these particular Ferrari's 15mins ago, I watch this and I'm now in love, what a fantastic bit of kit. What a wonderful car to tour Italy in, you lucky old so 'n' so, enjoy.
Wow what a beast, loved these when i was 10 in 1987 probably due to the bond film and appearing in dads autocar magazine every so often. Great stuff harry this really is the best channel👍thankyou 👌
Ivan.... Once again you prove yourself to be a gem.... driving that car must make you feel like a teenager all over again falling in love with motoring...... I have no doubt that the trip will be incredible....... Will you have an old defender as rescue barge along for thd drive??
Ivan Wonderful informational entertainment as usual. I have a question though, if the car was originally Pininfarina Coupe how on earth do you make a new body in the shape of a Cal Spyder? and what do you call it now, is it still a Coupe or is it a spyder? Certainly a great video would be how you have gone about making new bodies for your cars.
What a fabulous car and a real treat to see it's workings. Can't wait for the grand tour. Will you be looking in at Maranello don't forget to catch it all on camera. 👍
How does the shimming affect the backlash in the diff? I would have thought that moving the pinion .025" forward would have given half a turn backlash? Enjoy the drive! Chris B.
Ivan, I think you might have to get some more stylish driving gloves before you go to Italy. Don't want them thinking you are an Englishman on holiday with a knotted handkerchief on his head. Ciao.
It’s great to have a friend like Ivan with a wealth of knowledge and experience and a wicked sense of humor. And yes if you have any old car or a temperamental new car, then good to have a friend with a lift
It's a 1960 Ferrari California Spyder. Ivan did say it was originally a coupe but must have had a Spyder body fitted to the chassis. Must still be worth a few million.
That is it - it is a 1960 250 GT Pininfarina coupe, which was in a very sad condition, when my Dad bought it 20 years ago. So he rebodied it as a LWB California Spyder. He’d restored an original competition LWB in the 90s and had an original SWB Cal for 20 years prior to that so he knew what he was doing
📌 *Nice video, love how you take your time to educate your viewers. You gave me the mindset to invest before my retirement now I have made profits over $310k Right now and still making more , I am enjoying a good life with what I made investing. Indeed ‚building a Portfolio income (investing) through a licensed investment adviser is one out of many ways to earn passive income , God bless you for giving me the courage.*
That's awesome. I dealt with crypto last year on Robinhood, tried some index but didn't take it out so I lost it by the end. Any consistent strategies?
Mrs Laura Ashley service is a talk of the town in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 , I started with a little amount of 1ETH and she made huge returns and I have been constantly investing with her

I always loved the 61 250GT California from the famous movie "Ferris Bueller's day off", but this is my new favourite Ferrari.
But you know that this "Ferrari" was not a Ferrari, don't you?
@@robertharris7027 I.Dutton does cover this aspect in the follow up video. (I trust the sun is shining in Utah; it's not here.)
found a new hero... am hooked now, great show. thanks.

Your youthful enthusiasm had me grinning from ear to ear the whole way thru. Great stuff. Thanks, Ronn
Riding around in a California Spyder....sometimes life is good❤. Keep smiling Ivan. Cheers.

Ferrari California Spider oozes class & elegance. The engine is is so lovely and powerful!
Ivan. Thanks for the ride along. The sound of a Ferrari is unmistakable. Makes my heart race. Look forward to seeing your rally adventure in Italy.

Fabulous video as always. Looking forward to the road trip!
Wow. That engine note coupled with the tight gear change. Art you can really enjoy. Really looking forward to this series.
I really enjoy what you both do, and the knowledge and skills just to pop shims in and out of the diff, fantastic
I'll make an understatement here: Nice car!
Nice work Ivan - looking forward to the Video - Regards
There's no finer engine sound than that V12, fantastic
It's shocking how much the boot and lights look like an MGB.
Hello from Canada.
Thick diff oil, what a nightmare, you only got to drive it longer.Sir Stirling moss brother 😂😂😂
Excellent as usual! I couldn't afford to stand on a street corner and watch that car go by.... but it's a beauty! Cheers from a shed in Iowa
thank you for the ride in your FERRARI = GREAT IVAN = champion.
What's the music at the end please Ivan ? Great Stuff, I do enjoy your channel "Thanks"

Tweak of the week reminds me of a guy I was in recovery with 🤗
looking forward to the trip😁
Was watching you shifting gears. Looked like very clean and precise gear changes. Sweet machine!
Not really suprising Mr Dutton is a multiple British touring car championship winner in the 70's, lovely to see he's still got all his skill!
Fantastic stuff
That is a beautiful example of a 250 California spyder which is wroth millions.
Grand !
Brilliant car, must be worth 5 million pounds. Hope its got air con!!
Lovely looking Ferrari, am I right in thinking they were ' modified ' for the American Market? Look forward to road trip video.
beautiful car for sure.. But what's that motorcycle leaning against the wall?
Highly entertaining
Yet another joy from Ivan
Watching from 🇦🇺
Watching from New Mexico 🇺🇲 👍
Brilliant vid. What a car, even if it’s ‘only’ a modded old Fezza. Look forward to your Italian odyssey.
Great fun Ivan, you have indeed rung the bell. Best wishes, Dean.
You're a gem Ivan Tweek of the Week more like Gem of the Gents!
Does this 250 have the row of 6 two barrel carbs on top of the V-12?
I sure would love to see some tweaking of those!
The car has a triple carb set up - Weber 40 DCL 6
What an exquisite car!
Ivan

The next video will reveal all !!
Where you been all my life 😍
Might be star of the rallies🏆🏁
👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌best channel on youtube !!
I want to see you drive it like you drove the Lotus!
Learn something every time. 👍
I see this car at one point had its engine stolen - please tell us more
Allegedly in the US in mid 90s - but the right block definitely with the car when imported to UK 20 years ago - check out the next video
Are you the same Ivan Dutton who made kit cars in the 1970.80-s?
Really is a very sexy car
Superb as always.
Love it, but it would be nicer, in my mind, with the OG bodywork. That noise though... hnnnnnggggg
Wow what a great car , and the sound 😛
an Italian MGB!
Always looking forward to each new video! Cheers!
What a fabulous car and a real treat to see it's workings. Can't wait for the grand tour. Will you be looking in at Maranello don't forget to catch it all on camera. 👍
Nice post ❤️👍
That’s the first time I have ever seen a Ferrari up close and underneath. They really are a thing of beauty! And they sound great!😃
A bit like Ivan really
Lucky bar steward
That's pretty special. Nice to see the man giving it a little bit of the message.
That is a proper Ferrari !! I always thought the early 60s California Spyders were the best looking Ferrari's ever!
Beautiful car sounds great when he put the foot down, it is probably worth quite a bit!!!!
This is one of your best videos, Ivan. Can you tell us more about the man who built it?
Lovely car

I love your sens of humour!
This is the reason Bmw's have good radios
If 20tho helped and 40 was too much I'm suprised that you didn't try 15.
What a car!
Was it “Catchpole” you were thinking of ?
Fabulous ivan
The Ferrari was glorious.
What a fantastic Car. Art at it's finest as fare as I'm concerned. 😏👌
Top down when sunny…..
If I owned a Ferrari, I reckon I would bring it to Ivan
When in doubt, have a spare yellow California 250.
"Why do you need a radio when you have a soundtrack like that" love it!
I judge the like-ability of a car, on if it needs a Radio.
I like my Rover cause it has a V8, my mate has a radio in his Lancia 4cly..... nuf said.
Wireless indeed. Nice bit of DD-C Ive. Alas another dieing art. Greetings from the Forest of Blackness.
Ivan, I think you might have to get some more stylish driving gloves before you go to Italy. Don't want them thinking you are an Englishman on holiday with a knotted handkerchief on his head. Ciao.
I think I will take him shopping - you're right the protective work gloves don't look the part
The last man that knows what a 'Thiga ma jig' is.
Must be a pretty good car if Ivan could only find a few tweaks.
As a petrolhead, this is becoming seriously pornographic, and a must watch. Thanks again.
If you own an old Ferrari, it’s good to have a friend with a lift.
Same with a newer Ferrari!

@@suziepilkington5600 you are very lucky and Ivan’s knowledge won’t get passed on.
Could you do a video about the yellow California (7:05)? Great video by the way!
I'll try this in mine... Well, one of them.
