Taion's common behavior is not a facade, that's how he really is. He was just surprised and shocked beyond belief in the baby scene, causing him to break character.
I feel so bad for the people who got spoiled. This whole sequence was incredible and left me stunned for such a long time. I’m so glad this game got nominated for game of the year, it’s my favorite game of all time.
I’m 37 and have played a lot of games since the original GameBoy. This IS the best game I’ve ever played. This damn game had be in tears a number of times. All of the Xenoblade games did!
The only reason people got spoiled was because they couldn't keep off social media and youtube. I got the game at launch, and refused to go near youtube until i was finished. My play-through was completely blind and i loved it.
@@LBCAndrew there was a massive leak before the game came out I believe :/ I was lucky enough to stay safe but sadly some got spoiled whether they liked it or not
One of the most brilliant things about this game is how it shifts the overall tone to fit the narrative. The first few hours are pretty bleak, with a few lighter moments gradually creeping in as the story progresses and the party has successes in their quest. Then they arrive at the City, and the tone lightens considerably. There's more overt humor, the banter is dialed up, and even the design of the zones is bright and colorful. And then the game spends the last half an hour of Chapter 5 repeatedly punching you in the chest after lulling you into that false sense of hope. It's lovely.
While XC3 gets nominated for GOTY, lets not skim over the fact how the chat that night was an 8th wonder of the world. Just like the plot, chat was willing to be in emote jail to snuff out any & all odds of spoilers & let the raw emotions crash ashore. Not that in itself, is worthy of an award
You've heard of the music track "Time To Fight!", but have you heard of "Time To Cry!"? No? That's because it doesn't exist, that's just you and me and everyone once we reached the end of this chapter.
Now, I'm not a cryer. I've never cried at a film, TV series, anime or game before. But this scene properly got me. Real, proper sobbing into my pillow. I think that speaks volumes to how incredible this scene and story is, and how invested into the characters Monolith make you. Hats off to everyone who worked on this game, you've earned it.
The most difficult thing for a game developer to do is to get the audience emotionally invested in the characters. Some devs never achieve this... others like Monolith are absolute masters at it.
I think the last part of chapter 5 is the most effective prison sequence ever. Other games or movies where they put the characters temporarily in prison, never feels this depressing, sad and hopeless, so that alone is an achievement. Also, I've lost count of how many times I've seen someone react to Chapter 5 at this point, and I've cried each time I watched. So that's impressive too.
The ending of chapter 5 (and beginning of chapter 6) is one of the best written narratives, one of the best visual storytelling and THE best voice acting I have ever witnessed in a video game. I played through this at night, starting the fight against N and M at 11PM, thinking I'd get through the boss battle, save and get to bed. Three hours later I was done with the whole cutscene. I sat alone in my livingroom for the next 40 minutes, crying, being emotionally numb and trying to process the emotional rollercoaster I had been violently dragged through. Let me say this. I am a 35 year old guy. I don't cry. But this game has utterly destroyed me on so many occations. I love this game.
This is the reason why Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is nominated for GOTY at The Game Awards. BTW, the part where Mio says, “…my Noah” broke my heart immediately. Please feel free to use my box of Kleenex. Two thumbs up for your unforgettable reaction video.

in every single xenoblade story cutscene your reaction is similar to what i thought when i experienced it, which is why i knew this chapter would absolutely leave its impact. ch5 and ch6... is the best experience i ever had playing any game, experiencing any story.. game of the year? for me, game of the century, like i am so happy i went in unspoiled
After Monica said ins and outs, my first thought was “uh-oh.” Then when the doctor asked the team if they wanted to know, I was left stunned. Then seeing everyone raise their hand had me cracking up like crazy, but I got a sigh of relief knowing that we didn’t have to give them “the talk.” Still, the maternity ward scene really surprised me when I got to it. I didn’t think they were gonna display that part of life. It was really heartwarming, especially when Taion broke character. I don’t blame him or any of his friends for getting excited though. On the somber side though, I feel like Lanz was speaking for the entire group when he said that he was scraping for dear life. Everyone felt that way after learning the truth about their reality, especially Mio. Then of course, we have our team breaking down. It was only a few months ago when they were dueling each other. Now, they have become more than a unified front. They’re not just friends either. They’re also a family. It was further shown when they were all mourning Mio together as she vanished.
I'm currently at the prison camp in my New Game+ playthrough. This is my favorite chapter because it shattered my heart into a million pieces and left me in such despair that I couldn't express any emotions other than shock 💔😟 and then it put my heart back together in the best way possible ☺️💗
This is easily my new #1 game, even the further I get from my initial playthrough. Just such a rager of a story, such high highs that the Xenoblade franchise is known for amped up by 1000. Plus all the details and Easter Eggs, and we know there will be a Torna sized DLC? Even if the DLC quality isn't as good as Torna, this game just rocked my shit so hard
1:16:42 - since this moment everything feels so different in second watch. Everything you didn't mentioned in first time. Tear, avert eyes when Noah did step forward, silence. One of favorite moments.
This is a complete aside after a few months of Future Redeemed, but I love how you can see Matthew and the Founders' influence scattered throughout the city and their character motivations, especially with the Vandham line.
I just finished this chapter today, so I’ve been putting off seeing the reaction. Honestly the part that gets me most is when Taion just slams his fist into the ground knowing what’s gonna happen. somehow didn’t starting bawling or even crying, but this game definitely got me the closest to crying out of any media I experienced, i think the only reason I didn’t was outta shock for everything that was happening.
The ending of FFXV, The ending of Ghost of Tsushima, and this part of Xenoblade Chronicles 3... A lot of games that I played in recent years have made me outright weep...
Chapter 5 is my favorite chapter in the game, and the ending sequence only solidified it, at the cost of me being a wreck by the end. It was a beautiful, yet extremely heart-wrenching scene.
Oh, the ending of Chapter 5... the most emotionally-draining hour of cutscenes of all time...yes I'm including all the N & M stuff after the prison break, because it's all interconnected. The reveal to the characters of N and M's identities, the futility of being force to fight one another, Shania's betrayal, Aggie and Oggie sacrificing their freedom so Ghondor and the other Oroborous candidates can escape, Lanz and Sena prepared to sacrifice EVERYTHING, the crushing realization that there will be no fortuitous escape, and then everything in the prison and the Homecoming... this broke me... Thankfully the start of Chapter 6 managed to heal a lot of that emotional damage.
I just finished Chapter 7, so now I’m going back and experiencing other people’s emotional scarring.😭 Chapter 5 is legendary. Thought the scene with O and P was too. This GAME is legendary. I can’t wait to see your Chapter 6 and 7 reactions!
I remember spending forever and a day on ch.5 because I wanted to do a ton of side quests and class upgrading, but then one night at like 9pm or 10pm I decided "I'm gonna finish ch.5 tonight."(Hardest difficulty btw) and by like 4am I was a mess. I also just had to continue into the next ch. until the game gave me control again cause I just could not let that night end like that...
This was what I did too! I kept saying, "just one more cutscene, then I'll stop for the night." Before I knew it, it was half past 2 in the morning and only stopped until after the game let me move freely again in chapter 6.
When I was playing the end of this chapter, I was on a train ride, not expecting to make much story progress. While I thought the distractions on the train would take away from the moment, one specific moment stuck with me. When Noah was making his speech to Mio on her last day I heard a child crying what sounded like Mio. While I probably heard wrong or it was in a foreign language, it really stuck with me and I felt the impact of possibly losing Mio.
it makes sense when you realise its not m who is crying its mio! and m is shocked to see it. shes like, wow you actually have empathy for me even tho we treated you like food. when noah starts speaking to "m", you can see "mio" look ashamed down on the ground 1:16:23
In an ideal world this game is goty without debate. Edit: Any other company would have ended the game right here and make us wait a couple years to give us the second half of the game.
thank you for all the love you show to the series, we might get one last ride with DLC story but these games literally change my perception of videogames. Thanks again for streaming and playing Xenoblade Chronicles, much love from Guatemala
When I finished Chapter 5 I could not go on with my day because this game and these characters were the only thing on my mind. I had to go back and see where Chapter 6 takes them.
Hands down the peak of the game, cried a lot during Mio's homecoming. The music, the voice acting, the scenery...beautiful. Big props to Harry for his performance. However, I had the misfortune of getting the best part of the game messed up for myself. For some reason, when I got into the cell and triggered the cutscene after banging on the iron bars my game crapped out and skipped the ending of chapter 5 entirely, picking up at Noah "in the clouds". I kept watching without knowing what happened and kept wondering why they were talking as if Mio had died, a death I hadn't seen. Watched the entire thing until M picked up the flutes and was really confused. Luckily I was in a call with my boyfriend who had already beaten the game so he let me know that I missed something and I went back and watched it. The strange thing was that the ending cutscene that was skipped wasn't even in the event theatre. Really bizarre situation that ruined the experience a bit but nonetheless I still loved the scene.
I haven't watched that scene in almost two months, so thanks for bringing it back >_> Nice reaction, I felt pretty much the same. "My Noah" is what broke me. First video game ever to make me shed tears.
I’ve waited for your reaction to this chapter as soon as I finished playing it, and it was so worth the wait. I’m eagerly looking forward to your reaction to the final two chapters.
I was waiting for this one since I've first played it, such a special chapter. It's some of the most impactful fiction I've ever come across, that and the start of chapter 6; the ENG voice actors nailed their performances!
My favorite part of chapter 5 is watching streamers react to all the emotions in the eclipse. My second favorite is watching people wipe to Phase 2 M cause she hijacks an Attacker with an AOE and the streamer don’t notice until the Retry pops up
Hooo boy. I have been waiting for your reactions to this chapter. I love this game so much (despite it's flaws, aka cooking bonuses not applying LOL) but this chapter really did me in. So well told, and the storytelling (even in the music, Moebius M fight, omg) will always have a special place in my heart.
*Spoilers for chapter 6* The foreshadowing on this one tho! The whole fight with M sequence constantly showing Mio and M looking at each other and crying, the words Mio says in the cell with all the double-meanings (saying she no longer wants to die and wants to keep learning with her Noah, that's M talking right there!!) And the fight with M with the flutes, oh my: N and M never were off-seers, that's the music that plays when you fight MIO. We just assume it's normal because we immediately relate M to Mio and therefore to flutes. But then you take on N and the battle theme has no flutes! Everything is masterfully crafted to make this sequence of events all the more stunning.
Oh this was an emotional chapter, I cried so much too 😭 I had to pause once because I couldn't see and that "no no I'm gonna rage quit" was exactly the same what I thought in that scene 😂
Sarah - don’t do this to me, I can’t go through that pain again! Really one of the best chapters in any video game. I had to put the game down for a couple of day’s after this chapter because I was so emotionally wrecked that I had no energy left!

Update: after watching, even though knowing exactly what was coming, I have cried uncontrollably for 30 minutes straight
After Monica said ins and outs, my first thought was “uh-oh.” Then when the doctor asked the team if they wanted to know, I was left stunned. Then seeing everyone raise their hand had me cracking up like crazy, but I got a sigh of relief knowing that we didn’t have to give them “the talk.”
Still, the maternity ward scene really surprised me when I got to it.
“Ins and outs.”
Come on, that had to be intentional.

There are two different lines spoken here:
"You need only take her life."
"You need only take *my* life."
I somehow made it through the song without crying but when it showed her crossing off the last day in the journal....I broke down 😭
Ah yes, good old suffering simulator - uh Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Amazing. What an insane emotional beatdown LMAO. Our poor hearts
I think i was dehydrated after playing through this whole sequence because i cried nonstop for like a solid 90 minutes.
I'm currently at the prison camp in my New Game+ playthrough. This is my favorite chapter because it shattered my heart into a million pieces and left me in such despair that I couldn't express any emotions other than shock 💔😟
and then it put my heart back together in the best way possible ☺️💗
This is easily my new #1 game, even the further I get from my initial playthrough. Just such a rager of a story, such high highs that the Xenoblade franchise is known for amped up by 1000. Plus all the details and Easter Eggs, and we know there will be a Torna sized DLC? Even if the DLC quality isn't as good as Torna, this game just rocked my shit so hard
1:16:42 - since this moment everything feels so different in second watch. Everything you didn't mentioned in first time.
Tear, avert eyes when Noah did step forward, silence. One of favorite moments.
The moment we have all been waiting for. To see Sarah's reaction to this part of the game 😭
*Oh hi, checkmark.*
Sorry, it's just a customary thing. Gotta admit your reaction to this sequence was real entertaining, as was the edit.
This is easily the most I've ever cried when playing a game. This shit was beyond cruel
I’m looking forward to watching this! This game is just so amazing, and chapter 5 is really special.
I had just beaten chapter 5 yesterday, but it’s more accurate to say that chapter 5 beat me 😔
I just finished Chapter 7, so now I’m going back and experiencing other people’s emotional scarring.😭 Chapter 5 is legendary. Thought the scene with O and P was too. This GAME is legendary. I can’t wait to see your Chapter 6 and 7 reactions!
I wanna write a fanfic now where ghondor teaches shania the beauty of mortality. Classic immortality vs mortality love story!
A 2+ hour video!! Heck yeah! Must've taken a boat load of effort to put together. Hope you're doing better burn-out-wise 👍🏼
That's why Xenoblade is my favourite saga games. Not other game have created on me those emotions. :')
Harry McEntire should have been nominated for Best Performance at The Game Awards 2022!
A Step Away is actually sung from Noah’s perspective and me realizing that made the song even better than it already was
When I was playing the end of this chapter, I was on a train ride, not expecting to make much story progress.
Oh yeah high entia and flesheaters live basically forever, you're so right, I didn't even think of that!
I got extremely excited when I saw this video pop up! I’m glad Sarahkey was able to upload it!
Them descovering babies is the neatest scene I have ever fucking seen holy shit
I'm sobbing my eyes out again
This means Sarah finally got over her post xenoblade 3 depression to finally post this chapter on her channel! 🥳
it makes sense when you realise its not m who is crying its mio! and m is shocked to see it. shes like, wow you actually have empathy for me even tho we treated you like food. when noah starts speaking to "m", you can see "mio" look ashamed down on the ground 1:16:23
In an ideal world this game is goty without debate. Edit: Any other company would have ended the game right here and make us wait a couple years to give us the second half of the game.
thank you for all the love you show to the series, we might get one last ride with DLC story but these games literally change my perception of videogames. Thanks again for streaming and playing Xenoblade Chronicles, much love from Guatemala
already watched your reaction but, here I am, let's cry again...
Thank you for the video Sarah.
XC3 is truly a crazy experience. I hope you'll love the future Chapters as well. Until the end
Best chapter of the game uploaded the same day Xenoblade 3 has been nominated for game of the year? Now that’s poetic
When I finished Chapter 5 I could not go on with my day because this game and these characters were the only thing on my mind. I had to go back and see where Chapter 6 takes them.
Tbh this is the best chapter of the game. I cried for whole 10 minutes
When is the next chapter coming?
I love the flute they added to the 1st mobius theme in the M fight!!
I didn't realize just how attached I was to these characters until I beat this chapter.
Oh man, that sucks! I'm so sorry 😥
I love the warden so much, he's so unecessarily flamboyant!
Two hours, that's about right. Time to cry again, together 💙
When Noah was crawling towards the flute with the music in the background gave me goosebumps I can’t lie
I haven't watched that scene in almost two months, so thanks for bringing it back >_> Nice reaction, I felt pretty much the same. "My Noah" is what broke me. First video game ever to make me shed tears.
I cry everytime I see chapter 5.
... It's good to keep a record.
Awhhh!!! Bless Sarah! My reaction is the same with how babies are made 🤣 and Mio's homecoming... 😭What a rollercoaster
I’ve waited for your reaction to this chapter as soon as I finished playing it, and it was so worth the wait. I’m eagerly looking forward to your reaction to the final two chapters.
You know is gonna be a good chapter when its a 2hr instead 1hr video
Best thing about it?
IT HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR GOTY 2022 at the Game Awards!
WOOHOO!!!!
Vote for it guys!!!
That chapter was just heartwrenching. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait for the next parts!
So well told, and the storytelling (even in the music, Moebius M fight, omg) will always have a special place in my heart.
cooking was fixed in the first post launch update! but it's hilarious how it didn't at first hahaha
*Spoilers for chapter 6*
The foreshadowing on this one tho!
Watching m's death knowing what's gonna happen is so crazy because she adresses all of it, the "my noah" and "it's been fun" to N and not Noah
Sarah - don’t do this to me, I can’t go through that pain again!
Really one of the best chapters in any video game. I had to put the game down for a couple of day’s after this chapter because I was so emotionally wrecked that I had no energy left!
When i started this game i was expecting something good but it ended up blowing my mind on so many levels. One of the best JRPGs i have played.
