Not sure what to make of that performance. Maybe he’s just doing enough or maybe he’s not the superstar he was as a 2yr old. Either way, he’s got the job done & his CV is looking better.
Yep but that was by far Frankel's worst day and he still won ... there wasn't anything near as good as zoffany in this field and COT has already had a bad day and been destroyed
City of Troy's Derby win was good but not spectacular. Today was unconvincing. In neither race did he show real turn of foot. I think one issue is the ground. It was on the soft side today, and on the soft side of good at Epsom. His action looked a bit laboured today, as if he wasn't getting hold of the turf. We really need to see what he can do on firmer ground, or, at least, good ground, before we can judge him.
Very well said. He has a great engine but the change of gears is not exactly there like Auguste Rodin. That's what Aiden was hinting they haven't seen his tank empty at home. They need to choose the races carefully not to be beat for a bit of speed obviously. I backed him in the Arc but what if he get stuck on the rail? A real fast pace York International, Irish Champion or Breeders Cup. He is definitely hard to beat as he is so tough it seems.
Stop talking shite. It was a 12 F derby winner dominating distance specialists in a bog. “Before we can judge him”? He won the f**king Epsom derby! Here Jr is winning the Eclipse over 3 F shorter. You know nothing.
@@Dwayndibbwon the superlatives by 6 last time he ran on good ground not including the guiness obvs, sandown is a stiff 10furlongs on very soft /heavy ground he got the job done but really didn’t like that groujd , dewhurst was soft but nowhere near as soft as sandown
@@Nautilus1972 Not all Epsom Derby winners are greats. Most are just good horses. This horse has done nothing yet to indicate greatness, but let's wait and see. Firmer ground is needed for a proper evaluation.
@@jimreynolds2399Yes I backed him 25/1 😂 Honestly he doesn't look to have the turn of foot currently. Unless he stayed training next year we really wouldn't know what way he fills out.
Descriptions of him winning "ugly" are not necessarily a bad thing, if there were good reasons for not winning impressingly, but none have been given. Perhaps it was coming back in distance which didn't suit him, and he's really more of a real staying type. We'll have to see. The flat, galloping track at York, going anti-clockwise might suit him better.
True York is a different track most definetly. I'm wondering he might go The Irish Champion stakes after this. But he looks maybe 1m4f might be better. Who knows? Aiden best Im sure and Ryan
He’ll love York nice fast ground hopefully 1m3f that’s where he’ll go next unless he drops him in the Sussex stakes also but he’ll leave that for Henry
Honestly wasnt that impressed & i thought it was a sub-par Coral Eclipse .yes, he won the Derby but not exactly against champions of the highest calibre & time will tell how good his Derby win was

I think they said next Frankel at 2. Obviously no better. I was saying thankfully the Frankel fillies are the better ones this Season 2yo. No next Frankels in 2024 👍
Decent horse, but he ain't no superstar ... He will lose races the more he runs ... He would have lost today if the field had a half decent runner in it

He really looked to be struggling in the ground but his class got him home.
I disagree he was struggling in the ground He won very easily running away He raced green thou!
Some people seem to forget Frankel being all out to beat Zoffany by 3 quarters of a length at Ascot. Horses are not machines.
Yep but that was by far Frankel's worst day and he still won ... there wasn't anything near as good as zoffany in this field and COT has already had a bad day and been destroyed
Frankel went 20 lengths clear wjth 4 furlongs to go

Still won
Gutsy run by the winner .1st three ran well like to see ghostwriter on quick ground he will be a lot better

Didn't look like he loves running clockwise. Many horses dont unfortunately.

He nearly lost balance at the turn, and when his left front goes first and kick away. It is expected that next race in York will be better

Slightly above average Derby winner on what he has shown so far... yet to meet a good gp1 horse.
Can only beat what's in front of you he's tougth

Absolute class. No excuses for Alriffa. A derby winner showing off over 9F.
Didn't Al Riffa actually lose a shoe?
Strange performance. COF won comfortably but not impressive. It's difficult to judge horses on soft ground, though.
