    With the tires off, it's also a great time to give the brakes, brake,and electrical lines inspection. Make sure to look and make sure the wheel well panels are secure.

    A torque wrench is only measuring correctly if the wrench is in motion, then it is measuring dynamic friction, NOT the higher static friction. Also the threads should be DRY, otherwise you will be over-torquing!
    Safety tip: using two jacks is NOT a substitute for Jack stands. They are inexpensive and far safer.

    Excellent video Dave. Now I have a better idea of what I need to go out and purchase. I just hit over 12000 miles on our Y LR including winter and freezing cold weather. I could not be happier with my Tesla. Need to pick all of this up so I can put the summer tires back on in the spring.

    Nice Video.
    One thing that I was always told is the release the torque pressure on the torque wrench after each use and reset it the the desired torque each time it is used.

    Nice video. However, in common with every DIY wheel rotation video, nobody advises on the best mode or gear to leave the car in. However, you give a clue when you mention the parking break. However, perhaps the parking break would be engaged if the car was in Jack Mode. I believe that jack mode is intended for when the car is lifted all four off the ground.

    If you're going to use 2 Jacks anyway. Why not use the tesla jack-stands instead? Mechanics 101 says never trust jacks alone. Otherwise great video on how to do it man.

      I don't understand that. Front to back and back to front and so on. What is the point ?

    • @choongta
      @choongta 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ggalak The point is to allow the tires to wear out more evenly. By bringing the back wheels to the front, those tires will be in the steering position and therefore will have the same wearing as the front wheels have had. Likewise for the front wheels to the back.

    • @ggalak
      @ggalak 9 месяцев назад

      @@choongta That is understood for the first change. So after 20.000 km the tires will go back to their initial position. That is the part I don't understand.

    • @choongta
      @choongta 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ggalak if you do not rotate the tires, then they will not wear out EVENLY. What else is there to understand ?

    How do you address the tmpi sensors to relearn which tires are in each spot so that the readings appear on the screen inside the car matching tire locations?

  • @Robert-pm6bm
    @Robert-pm6bm Год назад

    Those aren’t direction tires so you could cross the fronts when going to the back. Also you don’t need the pucks. Every mobile service I’ve had, the tech never used them.

    • @Superman-xr1oh
      @Superman-xr1oh Год назад +1

      If they aren't using the pucks, then they're going to screw up the battery. It's right underneath the car, you can't just jack it up anywhere.

    • @jledge4797

      Correct, you should cross them either going back to front, or front to back, as long as you're consistent each time you rotate. Then over time, each wheel will be in every position on the car. I use jack stands to eliminate the need for multiple jacks.
