The most profound and most brilliant demonstration on how the levers and optimal motion of how a golf club works.

I’ve literally watched thousands of golf instructional videos on RUclips and this is the best instructional video I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen some really good stuff, but nothing better than this to teach swing path and face orientation. If you feel that handle being pulled in to the body like Stu is teaching in this video…say goodbye to over the top. Say goodbye to slicing and an out to in swing path. Feel what it’s like to hit a draw…and how to manipulate the ball flight with just slight movement and orientation of the pull left. For real… this is the golf secret for 95% of golfers. The circle goes around you, people! Not out to in, or out to out. In to out! Feel that circle around you! I’d be shocked if someone who shoots in the 80s and 90s or above doesn’t improve by 10 to 20 strokes with this instruction. It’s that good people!

There's so much to this. You get this and you get the golf swing.
I thought low markers who compressed the ball or could chip sublimely was because of some gift from God.
I spent over 30 years in my backyard trying to chip.
Now that I get how to balance the shaft and how the levers work: it's a bloody snack.
AND : do check your grip.
    Priceless Stuart : bloody priceless.
    Thank You.
    Grateful Aussie.

THANK YOU. I have spent a ton of money on golf practice aids, and I just bought a broom for 10 bucks, and it was the missing piece for my golf swing. How refreshing to see a coach actually talking sense. You wouldn't believe how many coaches are actually saying that we should force the right elbow forward - I tried it and immediately it was apparent that you couldn't even make contact with the ball if you did this (without installing half a dozen extra joints in your arms). I agree when you say it's horse poo.

Seeing how the broom handle and brushes move is eye opening. Never knew how important the butt end of the club was and how it affects the club face, thanks for the education. The visual is shocking. No wonder whenever I try to swing out to the right I slice big time. With trial and error, I learned that for me to hit a draw, whatever is my target, I aim just slightly to the right of that target, place the ball a little farther back in my stance and make my normal swing; and for a fade, I aim slightly left of my target, place the ball a little more forward in my stance, use a slightly less strong grip, and make my normal swing. I tried fiddling with other ways to do it, but I’m most comfortable doing it this way and it works the best for me. Cheers.

Hi Stuart. You are my now go to coach for the golf swing on RUclips. Club heads and shafts are designed for specific reason and to perform a certain way. The golfer is the driver of the club. Most amateurs' swing counteract the design of a golf club thus making this game harder. Poor golf instruction hasn't helped also, but many instructors believe in the in-to-out or the one plane swings. They've developed ways to swing a club to backup their theory.
Your videos have pieced together the missing pieces of the puzzle to the swing for me. Your broom series videos are all great! Going around to the left (right handed) during the through swing and how that squares the club face. Thank you for that!
I have a coach locally that is adamant that every golfer should swing differently because of their physical make up. Some players have longer or shorter arms, tall or short in height...etc. I believe in that also. Same reason people shouldn't buy a set of clubs off the rack, especially a putter. I like your view on how one's physical attributes will dictates one's way to swing a club.
Look forward to watching your next video. Keep up the good work!

Very interesting indeed. This really trains the hand path and has really opened my eyes as to how the hands work in an arc around the body. It has has given me a simple visual understanding of what my hands should be doing. After rehearsing with a broom it is simple to transfer that feeling to the club. I am now seeing how the hands move through impact and move in and up. Its actually very simple, but I have made it very difficult for the past 20-years. Many thanks for showing this.

I have seen lots of broom drills also but not with a heavy push broom which I have. Can't wait to try it. Best part was about 12:20 where a little pull on the left and push on the right totally fixes the face angle. More like this please. I haven't even tried the drill with an actual push broom yet, but plan on buying the lightest weight plastic one that I can find. Many thanks for this, Stuart.
One of many benefits that I noticed right away, was that I was able to get a better turn with my 78 year old body, at least partly because, the drill stopped me from over-restricting my neck turn during the backswing.

You're a great coach. I've always hit the ball pretty straight, but I believe I've chased the draw in the wrong manner with inside out and standing the handle up. I'm watching all of your content (especially the shot making), and it is so in line with what i feel when i am hitting shots (vs playing make a pretty golf swing). Keep up the good work, and thank you. Do you happen to do online lessons?

Very well explained and great visuals. I know that I tend to slide my hips and lean backward as I start my downswing but wasn't aware what too much trying to pushing hands out opened the club face that badly.!
I tend to struggle with the turn to finish but now watching that vid I can get that rubbish out of my head. (I'm guessing pros can get away with it via their expert hip movements, as some on YT really press home the issue.?)

Hi Stuart - love your videos and the broom analogy of a golf swing is very illuminating - you have a new subscriber. You lost me a little when you were showing the pulling of the club around the lead leg. Are you saying the pulling and downward pressure is the correct motion BUT that if you don’t have the correct grip THEN the face might open? Please could you tell me if that is correct then what grip do you recommend for this motion to work effectively and to be able to take divots.

Could be the Holy Grail, I’ve been looking for! Learning how to pitch the club down and square the face without coming OTT. I love to hit the draw but I’ve been victimized time and again with too much right shoulder under and an inside-out path and consequently hitting too much draw/hook more often than not. To correct I come right back to coming OTT. It’s a cycle of pure madness, I tell you! Thank you! Lyk my results. 6:45PM ET

Thank you for this. I am going to work on it in the practice bay with launch monitor at the PGA Superstore in Rockville, Maryland that I go to several days a week. I have noticed that annoying tendency you illustrate of finding your strike point is behind the ball even when you think you have applied swing corrections you have been learning. It takes a lot of forward shifting of the hips, getting the weight on the left foot starting early before the top of the backswing. Point number two, even then, I have found when I actually play a round that a lot of strikes that I thought were going to be good go high and straight to the right and miss the green. I double checked to be sure the bottom of my club face was aligned 90 degrees to the target line. I found that what I had to do was realign the bottom of the club face at address to be slightly closed or left of the target line. At least it seems like that. Now that I have watched this video I can see that what is happening to me is exactly what you are describing. Just one question. Many coaching videos by pros who seem to be very solid, and who the pro at my driving range agrees are good, place emphasis on that forward shift of weight starting early as you are still reaching the top of the backswing. They also stress that once your weight is on the left leg, rotating the hips comes easily, naturally. But if you start the forward shift late, as most of us duffers do, your weight is still distributed 50-50 or even a bit more on the trail leg near the bottom of the swing, so you cannot rotate and instead just spin the hips. I would like to know if you also make a forward shift on to the left or lead leg as part of the swing you are showing here? I could not see from the view from behind you.
