This seems to me a very welcome development of Joe Nichols's, Theory of The Golf Swing whose legacy is preserved by Mike Malaska. Your Broom Drill is the hallmark of a truly inspirational teacher, and perhaps the start of your own legacy. Thank you!
Yep, I did it. I did it all. All that bad stuff made my swing look like a reverse Jim Furyk. I didn't buy a broom but tried out the concepts on the range a couple days ago and after a little struggle expunging my old flat-to-steep swing I hit rockets for the last 30 balls of the 100 ball bucket. People even started to watch me hit. Amazing stuff! I hope I can take it to the course.
Stuart , just been been doing the drills of the broom videos, Omg what a complete revelation in the feel of the whole swing, seriously like nothing I’ve felt before. It really makes a lot of sense but also seems very scary to feel such a change. Haven’t hit any balls yet, but what on earth have I been doing all this time before, and I have had a lot of lessons. How can it feel so different, thanks
Keith - I hear this a lot my friend. Golfers will only know and feel good ball striking until they have it; I hope this journey you are now privy to will change your golfing life. Best wishes Stu
You were born for this Stuart. I've seen a few coaches over the years.... one in particular for several years. Not ONCE in any lesson i've had, have i understood this concept in the detail u just described. Its not just the use of the broom thats genius, its your skill and acuity in explaining the forces and when to feel them. Do you ever do 1 on 1 full day sessions?
Truly humbling words Billy, sincerely grateful. I do offer full day coaching and also host four day boot camp trips in Portugal during the winter months. I’ve now joined Skillest too. You can find all my info in tribe description of every video I post. Thank you so much for your kind words and really appreciate you being a part of my golfing family 😊
Music to my ears!! So so pleased you’ve improved and enjoying the game after all these years. Truly grateful for you sharing your thoughts. Best wishes Stu 😊
Looking forward to broom drill part 3 where you elaborate more about the leveraging of the club through strike! :) Very good drill and information, thank you.
I am lost for words, Stuart! I have watched a number of your videos and this one is gold. They all are, but this really allows us to see what is happening. Could not agree more about early Leadbetter videos. I have suffered from a sway to my swing for a long time, where he used to get us to post up onto the back leg, my head moved about a foot!!!!! Loving your stuff and cannot believe how good it is. Thank you, Martin.
Your videos have completely changed my view on the golf swing. My handicap has reduced and I am experiencing real striking more consistently. Many thanks. Just wish I were 20 years younger.
Age is merely a number David, live every day, keep getting better and the smile with last a lifetime. Thanks for being a part of the channel my friend. Best wishes Stu 😊
I watch a lot of different coaches on RUclips and I’ve learned a lot. However, you are the first to state we need to become hand path, handle and grip focussed rather than club head focussed - the latter will fall into place naturally. Looking forward to trying this new thought process on the range, many thanks. Very refreshing !
I’ll take that as a huge compliment. Having worked with players at the highest level and played at a good level too, I like to think I offer more than the average quick fix channel. Please please let me know how you get on and if you have any questions please let me know! Best wishes Stu 😊
The pressure & force exerted at the grip after the shaft laid down , was an eye opener for me . saw it couple of times to understand the concept . Thanks
Really enjoy the broom visual, it allows us to see exactly what happens at both ends of the club, and how the butt end really influences the club head movement. Thanks for sharing and educating us amateurs. What I’ve learned from this video in conjunction with the other “ broom” video is to stop trying to swing more to the inside or swing to right field, but get the correct grip for my swing and then swing in a very natural and athletic way with rhythm and timing. Cheers
Looking forward to the 2023 / 2024 Stuart Cartwright "Best Golf Instructor " recognition award by Golf Digest in their annual golf club(s) review edition.
One more thing, this is a lot of what Mike Malska teaches. I never totally grasped it from his teaching, but yours was so much better and easier to understand. Thanks again.
I’m not familiar with many of the coaches out there, I do that for a reason. If you see parallels, great, Mike might be onto something 😂 - communication is absolutely as essential as the information. Thank you so much for the very kind words Bob. Best wishes Stu
14:00 I’ve been chasing the swing feel that occurs right at this moment when you exert the force on the broom handle under your chest. It feels so strange mechanically but the result is unbelievable. It takes so much crap out of swing thoughts like side bend, inside out path, blah blah blah… TRIPE! 😊Looking forward to broom drill vid 3 hopefully soon!
Another great video - i followed Wayne Defranseco for many years, he always talked about how the great players go from shallow->steep and swing left post impact. I tried that technique for many years but it never resonated with me. Alas your broom drill validates his findings but is way more intuitive and most certainly easier to grasp and visualize. Thank YOU SO MUCH! who would of think a $10 broom could do more for my swing than a new set of irons every 3 months. btw i think Mark Crossfield might have to reshoot some of his old videos...
Thanks for the wonderful feedback; getting the message across is so important no matter what the advice is. Really happy the broom helped light the touch paper of your vision. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, hugely appreciated. Best wishes Stu
It's striking to me to see how your hands seem to move towards the ball into delivery but then come in and left with the body rotation into impact. I've seen this delivery position from nearly every pro golfer but it always looked impossible to get from there down to impact when I try it. Might need to order a broom and try this! 😂
Hey i just found you and started watching your videos Stu. Sooooo much of what you are saying about the backswing and pressure on the handle dictating the club head angle is ringing so true to me. Can't wait to give it go and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Welcome Jamie, so good to have you along for the ride Sir. Enjoy the videos, ask questions where you feel the need and we’ll get you playing good golf Sir. Best wishes Stu 😊
Another great video. Thanks for the lesson yesterday Stuart. I had a lot of fun and learnt a load to work on but where was the broom, that could have made all the difference! 😂. All the best, John.
Great video Stuart. Everything you teach resonates with my swing , I suffer from steep handle then stand up through impact hurting my back. Need to get myself a big old broom . Some of the best content on you tube love it
Thank you so much David!! Get the broom and enjoy, BUT, please let me know how it goes for you. Really appreciate the time taken to share your thoughts, best wishes Stu 😊
You had me laughing hard at the very end. Been there, done that. But you are so right. It's the physics and math of weight and levers, and biomechanics. Makes me think that you and Dr Kwon would make a very interesting joint presentation. Am sure you know him, the director of the biomechanics laboratory of Texas Womans University in Denton just outside of Dallas. He puts out a lot of what he calls swing reprogramming videos about an hour in length, but he also has his own set of stick figures showing the movement of all our bones and the effect of the "moment arm" on producing horizontal and vertical torque.
Stuart, this video really resonates with me, as all the issues and symptoms you have spoken about are what's happening with my game for last 3 months. Pulls, blocks, wicked slices and the unmentionables. Going to try this drill. Interesting comments about going too light.
Take your time with the broom, watch the video a few times and video yourself. Huge changes ahead for you Sir and really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and kind words. Best wishes Stu 😊
4:04, 7:15 Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! Honestly, this will keep me going, hopefully my addiction to buying golf aides is over as well.
I hope the swing aids will stop after this one; I have a few more I’ll bringing into your life that are equally as powerful 😊Good golf ahead for you Billy!
Thanks again for another great video, just don’t let the Mrs see you with a broom in hand or she may have me sweeping the garden 😳😳😳 seriously though a very good tutorial 👏👏👏
My pleasure Ian - glad you enjoyed my friend. I keep all brooms at work, “never” let the boss see me using one 😂😂😂 - thanks for sharing your thoughts as ever. Best wishes Stu 😊
Another superb video, Stuart. Thank you. P.S. enjoyed the 60 yard pitch live video against Simon on Monday as well. You may be the pro but he’s the club expert, so I’d be checking what he’s handing you before you take him on again ;)
Going to sweep up next comp. Very much enjoying the focus on controlling the handle / hand path rather than clubhead. Apologies for putting you on spot re: Dan Grieves releases on Mon’s vid. Genuinely interested. Wrong forum
Stuart can you go into more detail how to go from hands in front broom parallel to the ground to impact? There is a non-obvious move you make with your hands to get the club head on the back of the ball?
Hi Stuart. This video has really been a help to me. Question- Occasionally, I strike the ball towards the toe of the clubface. I use footspray to see how my impact is. Can you give a "general" reason a toe strike occurs using your swing philosophy? My guess is not enough pressure on the handle through the strike? Thoughts?
Archie you absolutely nailed it; more pressure, more postural angles and the longer the club shaft will be and the more the sweetspot will move out to the golf ball. Please do let me know how you get on. Great understanding Archie. Best wishes Stu
Stuart, very interesting concept. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the way I interpret the "pressure down"... it looks more like that pressure is really applied DOWN-INWARD and towards the front pants pocket. Granted, I don't have a broom (yet!). I watched both part 1 and 2, just FYI, and I love the broom concept. Best, Mark (NC-USA).
Hi Mark - you’re spot on, down and in. If you watch some of my leg action videos “this is how we rotate” would be a good start point, you’ll understand how the lower half works in random with the pressure through the handle. It will stop you running into the ground. Thanks for the wonderful feedback Sir! Best wishes Stu 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thanks SO MUCH for that speedy response, Stuart. I subscribe to the "throw the club" theory, allowing the human kinetic chain to perform what it KNOWS to do, and with great results. I've gotten a little bit stuck trying to throw the club too far out to the right (I am a RH golfer) which had me TOO inside-out. My hand action wasn't far from yours... again, just inside-out. Going to review that video now, thanks! Best to you again!
Hi Darren - many thanks for the kind message about my content. You can find my details in the description of any video. My in person and online diary links. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
Everyone is different of course, in terms of strength, but something slightly heavier than normal will (in my opinion) offer scope to improve dynamics with your doubt. Hope that helps.
It’s completely reliant on which part of the broom drill series (three parts) applies to you most, this is in your hands my friend; swinging the broom, applying the feels is how I’d like you to practice what I talk about here. Hope that helps! Best wishes Stu 😊
Love the broom series. Very good Coaching. @stu With the Club i have a prob. Can u describe in which direction or Angle do U pull from the top of the backswing? I really stuggle with it. If i pull to my Zipper i Close the face to much. If i pull more Out i stand Up. Staying in my spine alone doesnt fit because the shoulder can move so 3d ish. Thanks
Really pleased you’ve enjoyed the broom series; part 3 will be the blend of the pull phase and delivery. Stay tuned, out next week! Please check out my “Early Extension” and “Angle of Attack” videos to help in the time being. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and questions! Best wishes Stu
While I need this broom lesson to improve my game, I find that most instruction is focused on grip, set-up, contact, etc. The value of these early indicators is obvious. How is it that we see so little on the post-impact/fllow-through aspect of the swing? You might assume that since it is "post-impact" why should it matter? I believe that my golf swing needs to look like a proper golf swing LONG before I strike a single ball. That includes grip, posture/set-up, back-swing, follow-through AND finish. If the preliminary aspects are in any way suspect, your finish could actually expose them. What are the bio-mechanics that support a proper swing right through to finish? I find very little reference to this anywhere.

Your stance doesn't work for my low back, I stood like that for 20 years, got back pain, now I adress the ball more straight like Poston and back way better...... Any video on the Adress position?
I appreciate those that try to help but way too much talking about "Minutia" and most was spoken about in Part 1..Also I would color the the broom head half green and other half red for visualization.
I assume the reference to the minutia was a positive reference, I certainly didn’t reference small details in either part 1 or 2. I love your idea of the broom head referencing, I have planned for this, not yet done. Grateful of your thoughts. Best wishes Stu.

If you watch enough of my content you will find all the answers to then questions you reference. Hope you enjoy. Best wishes Stu
I struggle to get more than 50 meters with the broom. What am I doing wrong?
Put the broom down and grab a club, will improve things 😂
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thanks, I'll give it a try and get back to you.
Look forward to it
What specific broom is that?

@@GoodGolfCoaching Thank you!

Hi I think I would hook the ball if I follow that swing... 🤔
Maybe, but it won’t be because of this drill 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching I will try it too curious here
@@GoodGolfCoaching actually I didn't hook more thanks again Sir 👍
Your stance doesn't work for my low back, I stood like that for 20 years, got back pain, now I adress the ball more straight like Poston and back way better...... Any video on the Adress position?
Yes Jonas, I did a video called “Tour Pro’s Do This” - hope that helps.
Actually I tried again and it seems to work - thanks
@@GoodGolfCoaching the thing for me is having the hands closer to the thighs in the Setup. Then the ball goes straight with small draw. 👆
@@jonasbertilbellander If it works, keep doing it!! Lovely stuff

Glad you liked!
It’s really automatic. Sign me up.😊😊😊😊
Love it. Enjoy the game, smile, let the good times roll. 😊
David Leadbetter ruined my game. I bought all his training aids : what a Salesman: but a pure golf wrecker!
EEeeeek... sorry to hear that! Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching I'd be surprised if helped anybody except himself and his off-sider!
😂😂😂
I appreciate those that try to help but way too much talking about "Minutia" and most was spoken about in Part 1..Also I would color the the broom head half green and other half red for visualization.
I assume the reference to the minutia was a positive reference, I certainly didn’t reference small details in either part 1 or 2. I love your idea of the broom head referencing, I have planned for this, not yet done. Grateful of your thoughts. Best wishes Stu.
Go buy your own broom and paint it whatever color you want!
@@grovercarter1126 😂😂🙌🙌
Nah ... I'll just wait for you to buy it for me
Good luck with the wait! 😂
It’s a bit like that fella Mike Malaska move.
