Thank you coach!! What a gem of a video. For those who think Stuart's video is too long....you need to understand that you are getting this information free from Stuart and this type of information you can only get if you pay the big bucks to have Stuart coach your swing and trust me if you are going to pay a lot of money for lessons you won't just say give it to me quickly. So thank you Stuart for taking the time to make these videos for us. Will get to practicing today!!
Stuart, I’m calling it right now. This will be one of the most watched videos you’ve posted to date. Great info packed into this one. Thanks for the insights.
Awesome explanation of shallowing of the club and the drill at the end ties everything together Stuart! I know from watching your other videos that the driver swing would be slightly different due to the extra length. I hope all is well with you Stuart.
Hey Stuart, this is a great explanation & drill of the shallowing, so easy to follow & I love the way you show the cause what a bad technique will do as well as the remedy. Keep up the great content & I’ll see you in January
So much good info here Stuart ! Thanks a ton. I practice these but when I get to the course and play under pressure, I am back to my old steep swing habits. It is so hard to change !
Stuart, I’ve been thinking of angular velocity and this explains it well implicitly! I do want to move my left shoulder back and up, esp with driver, as you said. One question: is the shallowing of the shaft “proactively” done with the hands, or is it “automatic” as we squat and start downswing with the left hips? Thanks in advance and you’ve gained a new sub! 😊
Welcome to the channel my friend, really appreciated! If you check out the leg action videos, actively squating in the down swing can be dangerous. Everything else you have explained is on point though! Shallowing is a proactive motion to embrace where the heavy end is trying to move. Hope that helps..
I love your content and explanation/demonstration of the concepts. Thanks for another excellent video! A lot of the subtle nuances from earlier videos (e.g. "Shocking truth about shallowing ... ") are clarified. I have struggled with too much forearm rotation too early for far too long. I have been working hard on pushing down in the backswing with minimal forearm rotation and change in wrist flexion/extension resulting in a fairly steep shaft pitch going back with at least most of the forearm rotation occurring at or near the top. Have I interpreted this concept correctly? If feels very foreign but gives a much higher frequency of quality strikes.
Hey Stu, this was a fabulous video. You knocked it out of the park with this one. I always learn something new from you, thank you for that. Having a solid understanding of the golf swing and the science behind it does wonders for me and my golf game. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers.
.. thanks for the clear explanation Stu. This video reminds me of John Rahm on his downswing. Is it correct to say John Rahm doesn’t need a shallowing move because he already has the club in the correct position as he completes his backswing, thanks 🙏
Alas not... John Rahm is flat to steep when it comes to shaft pitch, but so flat with the pitch of shaft on the way back, the down is still (perceived as flat/shallow) - best wishes Stu
This is mintballz Stu! Thank you! Since i started watching your content, ive dropped the rest...and also dropped 5 shots off my EG ... in about 8weeks 😮. This shallowing instruction is the next step in the journey. Fantastic...really appreciate your insights
Fantastic explanation! Shallowing seems to be the hot topic in golf instruction right now. Best presentation on why you need it and how to do it that I have seen anywhere. Thanks for providing such excellent content.
Bless you David, really appreciate the very kind words my friend and glad you’re enjoying the content. Loads of different content coming, super excited to share in the coming weeks and months. Best wishes Stu
Great explanation coach. I've deliberately stayed away from trying a specific move to shallow the swing because I believe you need an expert eye to teach and talk you through it. As I often hit down on my driver (it is less these days, thanks to you) should I be trying this drill? Also, as my hip replacement has been postponed until December, I should be hooking up with you on Skillest in November, just trying to put a worthwhile vid together. 👌
Stuart : love the video however, I am unsure about ‘forearm rotation’ as what I am feeling is more handsy and like the club face stays open? Can you help? ATB
If the shaft is shallowing, you will absolutely feel more of everything the other side of the ball. Once you e done this for a while, head back to the handle path video and check out my video on Saturday too 😊😎
Love your videos by the way, however, when you demonstrate the shoulder forward principle, its usually followed by a downward movement of the hands/arms. Necessary, in order to get club to ball. My question is whats the difference of dramatic arm/hands down at the top followed by shoulder forward. I.e arms down first( a la Justin Rose drill)
Awesome video. So I do have one question. I assume you need to feel the forearm rotation (shallowing) before doing the "pull" part of the swing? I've taken your videos over the last week or so and played a round after some range practice and my god I hit the best iron's of my life the other day. Driver on the other hand was complete garbage. I'm having issues hitting the sweetspot, constantly toe and high on toe side hits, ugh. Those are my next vid's to go through is driver ones, hopefully something in there for that! lol.
The great part about pressing the hands down…throughout the swing, is that not only does it help shallow, but it keeps the variables of the diameter that you’re swinging on so much easier to stay on plane. If you push the hands down, and keep them down, the swing arc motion stays consistent. Having a controllable swing arc that is repeatable eliminates variability in one’s swing. Lots of nuggets in these lessons if you pay close attention!
This is the move that I’m unaware anybody else is talking about. Really clear explanation, but difficult to implement I suspect. Can you teach an old dog etc?😊
.......gheesh its hard to believe I use to make those bad swings you demonstrate. I'd work for hours on that swinging out to the right crap...... and of course occasionally hitting it straight and thinking "I've found it!".......but now I see the light!!!.......thanks Stu ⛳🍺😊
What if I do this but my shaft is not vertical enough going back. The driver worked out well and lots of irons we good or some terrible. Can you explain ? I always thought rotate forarms to get shaft at 45 degrees at top of back swing
There is no such thing as a single plane swing, contrary to belief. This is most definitely for all golf swings that have a heavier clubhead than handle.
Overcook and you'll be hitting the ground before the ball. Do we really need to worry about this if we have other things correct? Like a smooth transition, not swinging out of our shoes and having lower body, upper body, arms, hands and club in proper sequence?
One thing I never understood is why all courses have the trouble left ? When that is a desired shot for the better players. You think they would respect those players more. I would put more trouble right forcing players too get better
The course designer is often working with the topography they have to hand. Some course favour draws and some course favour fades, theyre all different, thats the beauty!
@@GoodGolfCoaching you’re my last hope in this game. Just can’t perform the wrist movements. Watched two utube videos last night, both demonstrating this steering wheel movement with a circular object, and both were the exact bloody opposite to each other. I’m thinking W.T.F … !!!! Just ridiculous difference.

Haha do you think so? Well… I hope you’re right. I really enjoyed this on, and think there are huge nuggets in there 😊
Absolutely agree
Fingers crossed chaps 🙏🙌

I hope all is well with you Stuart.
Thank you Wille, much appreciated my friend. All well with me, hope the same for you. Best wishes Stu
Excellent video! I tried this and after one practice session I played and hit a very consistent slight draw! Thank you!
Absolutely love to hear this, fingers crossed this continues!
Another great video!! After watching your grip series and going with the recommended grip, I’m seeing your other concepts much clearer!!
Jamie thank you so much my friend, really generous Sir. Glad your game and concepts are developing nicely. Best wishes Stu

This is the only video that explains "shallowing" on youtube. Thank you for sharing this information.
Bless you Nathan, thank you my friend.
Top quality coaching and well explained Stuart

RUclips Gold, Priceless
Thank you so much Ian, hugely appreciated.
Great video. When I do this drill, I often find the club face closing too soon. What swing correction do you suggest?
I have a video coming out Friday that will deal with exactly that. For the time being, watch my recent “Handle Path” video 😊
Nice drill ! Thanks
Thanks my friend.
Great video again 🙏!

Hey Carlie, it causes imbalance in the shaft and a lack of angle of attack and poor path to name a few.
You are an excellent. Can you please make a video like this hitting a power fade please? Thank you
Ive done a video on the power fade, please check out my earlier content. Best wishes Stu
Great video
Thanks bud - hope you’re well.
@GoodGolfCoaching I am good, hope you doing well enjoy your videos
Thanks Sean - life is good 😊
That's basically what i need to do 75x every range visit. 3/4 shots in drill format. Can't wait to try it tbh
Fantastic Kieran, let me know how it goes my friend n

Hi Chris, correct about the rotation first, then the pull as shown in the video. Plenty of videos on contact. Best wishes Stu
Not just good coaching it's genius golf coaching

Can you teach an old dog etc?😊
Once the grip is correct it’s simple Andy - get to it my friend 😊
Would it be correct to say, that think of your right hand knuckles brushing the grass on the forward swing?
I wouldn't recommend this, no. Best wishes Stu
.. if you are a leftie maybe 😳
🤣

Amen to that brother, scary stuff.
What if I do this but my shaft is not vertical enough going back. The driver worked out well and lots of irons we good or some terrible. Can you explain ? I always thought rotate forarms to get shaft at 45 degrees at top of back swing
As long as there is a difference in backswing to downswing you will be on point...
pulling down and in with the left hand
🙌🙌
Is this just for single plane swing, or does it also apply to a two plane swing?
There is no such thing as a single plane swing, contrary to belief. This is most definitely for all golf swings that have a heavier clubhead than handle.
Hi Stuart
May be a stupid question is it the same for the driver
Nothing silly about it at all, exactly the same my friend.
Are you edutained? Good stuff, Stu!
Haha thank you 😂😊
I have been using wrist not forearm shit.
Hope it improves!

I did a video on it because I believe it’s important 😊😊
I understand...that's not what I asked though.
One thing I never understood is why all courses have the trouble left ? When that is a desired shot for the better players. You think they would respect those players more. I would put more trouble right forcing players too get better

Wouldn’t want to say shallow the shaft to many times with a mouthful of golf balls 😂
Not sure you should have them in your mouth!
Spit it out...goodness! Gone with the wind length.
You’re welcome Bobby 😊😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching I appreciate the details ;)
