Jahrhundert!

To think, to hear, that this almost incomparable string quartet have continued to perform this very work of such inspired feeling, emotional tension and beauty of expression- a true drama of the wordly soul- to this very day, the Borodin and Tchaikovsky, in commune, profound and inspired, as they always shall be

It is said that Leo Tolstoy attended the premiere of this work, and wept during the entire andante movement, moved by its beauty and elegance

I'm reading Stormy Applause by Rostislav Dubinsky, the original first violinist of the Borodin Quartet. Also, having a self-appointed listening challenge to distinguish the various incarnations of the group as it changed members over the years. Thanks incontrario motu for helping my study of the Borodin with your splendid archive.
