I feel as though Grindium should also be a persona since he appears so frequently.
i thought Grindium is only active on Grindr..
Grindium can work in the club too
Drift leafsprings, they said, it would work, they said.
*4-link suspension building intensifies*
Gingium your "5th" link pan hard bar is supposed to be on back not under drive shaft... and what you should do is get another stick of that 2x6 and go across your frame rails for your 4- link frame mounts to support them cut a notch for drive shaft that a piece of strap and go under added in 2x6 so it will give strength to rear half and better support to 4-link frame mounts and you'll have a drive line hoop for safety all in one shot also cut the cross brace round stock that is already there get another round stock piece and weld them across your C-notch above your axle....
I was thinking the same thing. Looking at Factory 5's 4 links...
^Yeah what he said!
There are quite a few 4 link setups that run the track bar under the driveshaft. A 51 Chevy pickup with a custom frame I’m working on is setup that way. It can be put however as long as it has sufficient clearance. I work at a place called Toxic Designs and see old vehicles with custom frames on the regular. Almost all have had the track bar run underneath.
Your right, panhard bar goes behind the diff, but a track bar goes under the driveshaft like this setup, it has alot less lateral movement as the suspension travels as compared to a panhard bar
Man I could use your help on my Mazda 4 link this week.
I was literally just looking at your page to see if you uploaded
Same!
Content of this quality and wholesomeness is one of the rarest thing out there. Keep doin god's work my man
Thank you so much :)
get that "god's work" bullshit outta here. the man is responsible for everything he does
You should make some videos of Molly VS. (insert another car here). I miss seeing that car and listening to it rip. Pleeeeeeeease!

Gingium uploaded a 16 minute video
*Everyone Liked that*
Excuse me sir it's actually 16 minutes and 51 seconds not 16
I have a weird but really cool idea Caleb , I genuinely think the rear set up looks so freaking good that once all done clean it up maybe even paint it a colorful color and get anothet bed and cut out the bed floor and rivet in some clear corrugated clear plastic so you can see the beautiful setup underneath. I personally think that would look so unique and sick and you can always reinforce the bed since you got a welder
Rice rice baby -.-
Respect Gingium! Im impressed! You learnd so much! This is indeed on of the best channels on RUclips. Here since the focus videos :) greetings from germany.

Gingium, what is your opinion on 3 link suspensions?
2 lower links used from this kit.
But on top A-form link. (like miata's wishbone)
Those two opening ends would be attached to the frame rails on each side, and that center part going to the center of an axle. So it will have up-and-down movement(like a wishbone).
It won't have no side-to-side movement like trackbar does, or this diagonal (like a wishbone, because it's literally a solid triangle with two ends bolted to the frame.) and the center hyme has also side to side rotation, so it will let axle tilt if needed.
Two lower links attached to the bottom. This wishbone(which should be better called trailing arm) attached to the top. So this axle won't flex on hard accelerations, or clutch kicks like leafs do.
Btw, seen on drag aplications.
So here you have it:
*up and down moving axle*
*tilting axle*
*no side to side movement*
*no leafspring-like flex*
*wayyy simpler*
What do you think?
I wanted to do that system, but the pumpkin on this axle is NOT in the center of the axle. That makes it much more complicated to make and I didn't want to deal with that.
@@_Gingium_ what about welding a bar of steel on top? Like that frame notch work?
This system is commonly found on some vintage Alfa Romeos. It's generally a better and much simpler system than a 4- link. Another option is to use a torque arm or torque tube in the center, with a proper panhard bar. many Opels used this in the 60's and 70's, its one of the best handling setups for a live axle you can get.
He should at the very least place the panhard bar behind the axle and parallel to it, where it will actually limit side to side movement instead of just binding up the suspension.
He could fab up some mounts and make a coilover conversation for the rear and cut out the bed floor and buy a bed cover so you can do some easy rear end work and cage in the rear and do a fuel cell swap and lighten up the rear end and you can have the frame notch higher and then you can get the rear end low as you want
In pretty much every scenario you don't want to make the rear end of a truck lighter, all the weight of a truck is in the engine bay and cab. The lighter the rear end is the less grip/traction you'll have.
When I decided to add a triangulated four link to my 1976 F100, I did so to solve a sever traction problem that manifested after installing my stroked 421 Windsor engine. I went to the Art Morrison website and went to his technical page to learn about the dynamics of a four link system. With a wealth of information to guide me, I designed the entire system on my computer then sent the files out to a laser cutting shop and received the parts six days later.
After boxing the chassis, installing all the new mounts and link parts, adding spring perches, Afco springs, new drag shocks and stabilizer bar, I fired up the truck and did several launches on the street. I knew all systems were go, when my friend witnessed the front suspension lift while the rear of the truck squatted perfectly with the front tires off the ground. I call that a successful custom four link..
Getting everyone in the same room makes these videos so much more entertaining.
Also pasha did a good job last video didn’t even notice 👍🏻👍🏻
really liking the fab work. Looking forward to the next DadSon video as well.
Ging&Dad
i haven't watched one of your videos in awhile your welding has gotten so much better i remember when you were trying to tac the hood scoop for the miata.
Really like what you do and how you learn and progress stay up with the good work
Thank you!
You sir need to put down the grinder and learn to run a mill
Hell no he should get a belt grinder
@@rubenbraekman4515 Why not both?
Both is fair but this hack work with a grinder needs to be replaced with the precision of a mill period, so much faster too.
Rosenberg Band gotta do whatcha gotta do. The mfer just bolted his vise down, he’s making progress lol
@@rosenbergband6828 Mills are pretty expensive though. Especially if you don't want a worn out hunk of garbage.
Man Gingium deserves more recognition than he gets, you are on my top 2 favorite RUclipsr Gingium
Sooo, no cats were harmed in the making of this video?
I did happen to take Axle to the vet during the process of making this video. He didn't like it much, but he is un-harmed :)
Axel? Yo my cat almost ate a screw one time
by far this is my favorite car project to watch on youtube
It looks like the horizontal bar between the frame is gonna hit the 4 link when you bottom out? Are you gonna clearance that too? Or remove it?
I believe he said he was going to relocate that in an earlier video
I was thinking the same. It won’t even make it to the notch with that crossbar where it is.
Awesome. Glad the new welder is paying its dues with your project. Please don’t wear a white shirt to work! It looked so crisp that I felt bad. Happy everyone is together working in the shop too, it’s always great to be around friends like that. Loved the video, thumbs up as always
Looks to me like the top bar will hit that frame cross member
I would think that cross memeber will be cut out and relocated to the box section that was added for the frame notch. I would prolly go ahead and add a 2nd cross member and some triangular braces between the new box sections on each side. Can never have too much strength! Good work Gingium!
Xmember between front four link mounts with notch for driveline. Those Mazda frame rails are thinner than you think.
i cant wait to see the video a year from now when the trucks getting backhalfed and fixed proper...but, having said that...youre clearly having fun and i guess thats important as well lol.
i also have a soft spot for those slowass b2000's...had 2, 1986 longbeds back in the day...loved them
Last time I was this early I came here from a Just Pasha video.
I had a stock four link on one of my cars and it had two straight bars and two diagonal bars it worked well
Joshua Nicolai why would you have a 4 link on a car?
I don’t think you get enough credit for some of the bad ass stuff you do by yourself, most people would have just sent it to a shop and have that 4 link installed or to have that V8 custom swapped in the truck. You’re really doing some amazing stuff Caleb, keep up the good work 🤙🏼
Push Rod suspension in the bed would look sick!
At that point he might as well go full fuckin race car lmao
i get that you love fabrication, but couldn't traction bars solve the wheel hop? they are designed to keep the axle from moving
yes...absolutely yes
drift trucks transforming into a battle truck! cant wait to see it rip on the track
@gingium if you need a place to offload the leaf springs and the rest of the old rear suspension hit me up! Looking to replace those parts on my B2200
We are about to do this exact same 4 link on a 95 f150 coyote swap. This was huge. Thank you.
That hat must be for when you need to be a train conductor at 6 but coach your sons soccer game at 7
I feel your knotches could be a bit deeper. I know you'll not do a whole lot of hauling but I feel you axle is gonna " bing " off the frame from time to time.
I wonder if I should go 4 link when I slam a Vortec 454 into a chevy C10?
Miatas Forever I’m think about doing that in a 1963 gmc c10. I have a 454 and th400 out of a motorhome. It’s current engine (a big block v6) might be seized and it has a manual 3 speed so it’s not the best combo for modern highways.
Joseph Samsor I am looking at a c10 or possibly getting a 90's S10 to save some $$
Miatas Forever idk, if I were to build a truck, idgaf what it is, it’s getting a 4 link. It’s just easier in the long run.
I understand why he wants a four link and I'm glad that hes doing what he wants and he looks really happy about it but it would have been so much easier and cost effective to just put traction bars on it and keep the leafs like traction bars are pretty cheap and leafs are so freaking simple
my 4 link is two in front of rearend, and two in back. interesting way you've done yours rock on man.
why are you recording right now? :D
Just Pasha because he has an iq of 2
zippyoya nahhh, he’s very smart!
@@JustPasha yeah, he has an IQ of 3. That's like a whole IQ point more than 2.
Please do a proper panhard bar or a watts linkage.
That set up is a bit like the one on 60's Alfa Romeo from the 105 series. Light and effective ^^
Your good with that grinder.
I appreciate it to watching this video,,i have some learning for suspention and coilover repair.thank very much man...
congrats to just pasha on 10k!!! Always love a gingium video so peaceful :D
I suggest drilling a drain hole in the four link bracket you made.. i'm talking about the square pipe you welded to the chassis, as you boxed it in.. the ingress of water through the chassis could eventually rust the welds..
I would re-do that pan hard bar. Either make a bracket for the front of the diff to that tube on top or axle to that top tube.
Not many people would take on suspension. Kudos to you.
AT 10,000 U GOT MOLLY THE MIATA like if u remember that video
Wy not fabricate a custom tray/bed for the drift truck ? It would look pretty sweet 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
It's not really a thing in north America unfortunately
Why not to make something similar like that frame notch reinforcement on top of axle's pumpkin for 3link?
tf this video wasn't showing up in my subscription feed but I had a notification of it
Looks downright badass
alright now here me out for a second:
it’d be fire if he ran the truck without the bed
For what reason? Not only would i make a mess flinging around rocks and shit but it would be impossible to drive with even less weight in the back
Spinddrift because form > function
15:03 should flip those bolts around as it may be hard to remove if u plan on adjusting it in the future
awesome ! love to see these kind of fabrications !!! you did a great job 👍
I think you need to make a bar from the mounts closer to the truck cab with a nice u bend in it. But that's just me in a perfect world.
Please put a bar across the frame where the link mounts are welded.
Fabium at it again. It came out great!
Way to go Caleb very impressive
Keep up the good work! Next time you need to grind out several brackets tack them all together and grind them out to fit all at the same time 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Haha I 100% remember you man! You were from the good ole days with the bows!
Caleb it might be an idea to leave half the threads showing on the bars so you can adjust them properly
That non copyrighted music is 👌
Watching Gingium work on the drift truck while wearing the drift truck shirt. #ohhyeah
Fabium is right at home today
personally id have gone for a triangulated 4 link as the space was available also the panhard bar is on whats normally known as the wrong side of the diff as often the run from above the diff but as long as it doesn't foul there should be no issue the articulation in the axle from the small clip of you rocking it i hope that wasn't all the articulation available because if it was you will end up breaking bars and the such under roll if you think about the maximum travel the damper can have then you will want at least that much in articulation available, further more when it comes to the dampers please mount them as wide as you can on the bottom and maybe with a slight angle inwards towards the top so that they can allow the articulation to occur better also id suggest a damper which has a spherical bearing both top and bottom to allow the motion to occur with less resistance, try to get the best motion ratio (ratio of damper to wheel movement) you can ie don't do a morgan 3 wheeler and have a ratio of 0.2/1 go for a ratio of like 0.8 to 1 if you can you may only get like 0.5 but that is better than nothing
i love your work though keep going!
Nice train conductor hat.
im building a colorado drift truck and im curious why you did not go triangulated 4 link. im asking not criticizing because i bought a drag truck and plan on modifying the suspension for drifting as it already has the power.
love the videos have watched most of them way before i got my own project and once i saw it i found my own drift truck

Hey enjoy your video I'm going the way you did on my truck what 4 link kit did you use
4:00 "Ford 8 ate my ass" -Gingium 2k19
Looks amazing. Keep up the good work!
Loving the content, my man. You've come a long way
I hope you Threaded in those rod end in farther. Looks like they were hanging on by 3 threads.
You could do a true 4 bar if you triangulated the upper control arms but i don’t know if that’s best for your use
If this isn’t the ideal suspension setup for drifting a pickup truck, what is? Fully independent rear? Seems like that would sacrifice rear axle durability.
Get this man a Dremel
And remember kids, Sparks are hot and stay hot for some time. So unless you just hate your paint job and don't like looking out of a clean rear window cover your shit up! 👍🏻
I wouldn't love with this video of you giving more detail on where you put the pieces for the 4 link and why they need to be where they were
If gingium keeps up the fabricating and if he keeps getting better, he’ll be able to build the Subaru powered rally Miata by himself 😂
What about fender flares for the drift truck and when the four link is finished can we have a shop improvements/ clean up video please ?
You need to do a gopro clip of the suspension like chrisfix did on his shock absorber tutorial
this is taking a lot less time than i thought it would
are you able to take out the top bolt of the frame mount? looks like it is now forever trapped in there as there isnt enough room
The truck is sick
So sick!
thank god its back in 60fps
