Been trying to decide if I want to get one of these for my channel and MTB rides. This video definitely helped sell me on it I think! There are definitely enough usable shots throughout your sequence that could be used in an edit and Im sure with some post it would look even better! From what I gather it would be best for slower, techy descents. Can you set it to just hover and film a specific feature? For example if theres a drop I want to hit, can I just fly it up, let it hover and film, and go up the trail and ride back down the feature? Thanks!
@@WanderingWheeliesMTB yeah, it works really well for the slower techy stuff. Fast and flowy and it just can't keep up. There is a "spotlight" mode that will stay stationary and follow your movement but if you setup for the feature it might lose you if you head too far out of frame. Alternatively you can do a manual control placement with your phone to set it where you want it, hit record and then ride/walk back up and hit your feature. It will hover where you place the drone until you return to retrieve. There's lot of options to use this drone....just got back from a fishing trip and it was so much fun to use!!!
@@thump911 Nice! Thanks for the info! Ideally Id buy one to keep up with me going Mach Chicken through the woods with obstacle avoidance but those are sooo expensive. This should do the trick for what I need for now! Getting goggles down the line might be fun as well.
@@robwhite164 that was straight from the drone into the DJI app to link a few video clips together with some cheesy music and then straight to RUclips. No other picture quality edits whatsoever.
How long was your ride in its entirety and did you have to replace the battery during use? I have seen reviews of people stating it didnt last 20min? Thanks
@@Porkfryedbrice the ride in total was over an hour but yeah, unfortunately that info you're hearing is correct... The battery on this little guy barely lasts 15 minutes. It depends how fast and hard you're flying it... Just hovering and doing some circles or a slow walk in follow mode might last a minute or two longer but if you're fighting the wind or riding at speed then you might be a minute or two less. The Fly More package would be recommended or in my case, just buy a couple extra batteries separately after the fact and swap them out quickly and carry on recording. Keep in mind as well that the internal storage is 22GB and good for around 45 minutes of video so that's your other limiting factor. Overall I love this little drone and it works perfect for my needs!!! Cheers!!
Wow. How many times has Neo failed to follow or crash? (I’m curious) This is fairly tight single with lots of branches on the way. Beautiful track btw.
Surprisingly it only hit the one tree later in this vid. When I passed I knew it was going to hit. I just went back, pressed the follow button again and it carried on again, as my stupid face showed, without issue, not a mark on the drone. These trails were more suited to the pace of this Neo. I did some other faster, flowy trails with a buddy a few days ago and it was too fast for the drone and the sun glare through the trees was throwing it off and getting it confused...just had to stop and let it find me/buddy again. No crashes into trees, just got caught in some ferns. But these trails in this vid worked really well. I'll go back up next week after work and try some new trails similar to these, stay posted (subscribed 😉)
@@thump911 Thank you for sharing your experience. I will follow. It’s very interesting to know what kind of trail Neo can do the best. Somehow, this drone has pretty decent avoidance capability. I ordered Neo to get some MTB footage. I can’t wait to try it on the trail. (My order seems to have been fulfilled in October.) Have fun!
@@jun701 the slower technical trails will be great. Faster, flowy trails might be disappointing. I'm still happy with the purchase and can't wait to take more vids asap. Have fun with it!!
Personally I think it worked quite well for the tech/money. Give it a few firmware updates and maybe another updated generation (Neo2??) and it will be quite capable. It's just fun how tech is improving and what can be done...baby steps. 😉
What video were you watching?? It followed him perfectly. It doesn't even cut corners either. Follows in the exact path he took while other drones at this price would have hit the first tree he went around.
Nice
Nice follow mode 👍
@@manu-production it works surprisingly well... To a point of course. 😉
@@thump911 I'll try it too, weather permitting.
very cool Trav!
@@The_604_Garage thanks...got a few neat ideas for this thing. If you ever need eyes in the sky for your projects, lemme know. 😉

The footage looks great, did you do any adjustments in the editing?

Why is it that everyone that owns a neo lives in the forest where neo doesn't do to well 😒
