- In this video, we are building the Airfix 1/72 scale Sea King, as currently flown by the 330 Squadron of the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
As well as building and painting this model, we also look into the history of the squadron, from WW2 until today
Superb. 👏🏼
wow the pictur of the seaking O_o almost reallife !
magnifique 👏👏
your voice, commentary, and build are relaxing and entertaining.
Thank you so much :)
What a great variation of this historical aircraft. I'm currently working on the 1/72 yellow SAR version (along with after market aircrew) pilot,co-pilot,
navigator and winchman
A beautiful build! My first flight was in one of those Sea Kings at the Air Forces' summer camp in 1976. It left a lasting impression. Subscribed.
wonderful
This is an absolute work of art. Bravo sir!
Thank you, I'm very pleased with it :)
Lovely. I'd have wanted to represent the 66 aircraft used to recover the Apollo 11 astronauts after splashdown on July 24th 1969.
That would be an awesome build :)
I made one off these Airfix Sea Kings recently also.. And also found putting the fuselage together very tricky. Nothing closed up and sealed. Had to trim bits off the inner cabin to have it seal up. A nice model when finished. But Airfix need to sort out this issue..
I'm pretty sure they've sorted a lot of issues with their new 1/48. That'll be big though
Greatings from the uk, currently working on this model myself, albeit an RNLI variant and i just wanted to say your work is beautiful, please keep it up 😊
Thank you. Good luck on yours
Fantastic build !!!! Greetings from Greece/Corfu
If I color this!. For environmental and safety reasons, I plan to use acrylic paint to paint! 1:44
Are you going to paint that surfacer and then color it!..?? 3:03
Thank you for showcasing the details and wire, it really brings the aircraft to life.
It really is the small details that make a model, isn't it :)
@@scalemodelhistory4174 great result
..where did you get the Whirlybird upgrade set?
I got the set directly from them. As far as I know, they have ended their business now, unfortunately
@@scalemodelhistory4174 thats a shame.i know tjey did a conversion set for the heller puma to conbert it to the version flown by the Irish Air Corps betweem 1981 to 1983
i love it
Fantastic Job
That is a superb looking sea king, you did a great job!
Congrats on this beautiful model. This is my favorite helicopter and you did it justice.
Thank you very much
Awesome build with good descriptions. You've inspired me to buy this kit. A big thank you for sharing your skills.
Really beautiful work you did. Congratulations with the Sea King. Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
Thank you. I'm quite happy with it :)
It's amazing how much you have invested in this model, it's very cool and interesting to watch your work. I congratulate you, a chic model turned out
Absolutely pristine
Thank you so much
Genial!!!!!!!😍
Very nice build, great skill!
A real beauty! well done.
Tienes excelentes habilidades.
That was very enjoyable thanks for taking the time to make the video . Regards Gav.
Thank you so much :)
We can see it 😁
Very nice build and history of the squadron.
Thank you
G'Day from Australia, really liked your build and history of the unit your Dad served in with pride, great looking SAR helo. Totally get the difficulties painting gloss white! I did a gloss white Seahawk and it was traumatic! Level 5 swear words were released.. lol😊
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
The reason I used brush paint instead of airbrush to color this Sea king was because I used brush paint overall!..?? 15:54
Actually, after watching this video, I was thinking of coloring two of the three 1/72 scale UH-60 Blackhawk Kidults with an airbrush when adding "stripes (lace painting)" to the outside of the fuselage! . Watching this video, I was completely shocked by the fact that the airbrush and brush strokes were completely mixed! 3:46
Красиво!!!😊🎉
Very nice build 👍
great job
Well done mate, keep it going!
Thank you, i will :)
Lovely result.
I liked how you used the tape to hold the PE in place before gluing.
This is my next build.
Subscribed.

Thank you so much, glad I'm able to share some tricks
@@scalemodelhistory4174 That’s what modelling is all about 😊
Ian
Nice build!
Thanks man
Nice!... I have an old Airfix SH-3D Sea King(Apollo missions) .. cheers from NZ👍🇳🇿
That sounds like a nice diorama opportunity
I think that was the model I had too. White with grey underside, US Navy markings, from Revell IIRC
Hello, awesome video. I watched it like 50 times. I also build this model with electronics for spinning rotors and so. My problem is that i dont have decals for it, because its a german MK41 but i wamt the norway version much more. And my question is. What reason is there for painting it first black and the grey and white? Makes it not sense painting it white at first?
The black primer was simply because that is the one I normally use. White can be difficult to paint straight over black, so by going with shades of grey first, I find it easier to paint white
You’ve made a lovely job of that model, thanks for posting your video. Maybe you will make a Norwegian AW101, there are Xtradecals for that variant.
Thank you. I don't think I'll tackle the 101 very soon. I'm rather thinking about working my way through the Norwegian fighter line..
Hello - what great detailing, I’m about to start this kit unsure what colour to do the interior, thanks for sharing regards Liam
If I remember correctly, I used german gray for the flooring, and a slightly lighter gray for the walls. Good luck on your build
@@scalemodelhistory4174 thanks for getting back to me cheers Liam
This base of this kit first came out in 1969 (!!) and was updated trough the years with more details, decals and parts. Thats why the fitting is somewhat dated. Your result however is very beautiful.
No wonder then, that it was such a hassle :)
Hi, sorry but I do not want to sound bad, but you seem quite young. I am older and my modeling skills are only about 5% of yours. Keep it up. absolutely fantastic video, and an even more brilliant build. Awesome.
Actually, I'm getting really close to 40 these days. No worries though, and thank you for the encouragement :)
Excellent build, could you please tell me what product you used to tint the top of cockpit canopy green?
Thank you. I used tamiya clear green, maybe with a little bit of gloss in it. Sprayed it medium wet to get it as smooth as possible. I had tried vallejo clear green, but that came out foggy
@@scalemodelhistory4174 Thank you so much for your quick response, very much appreciated
Because there is a video on RUclips of the Sea King Helicopter Kidult decorating it into a diorama! The Blackhawk helicopter Kidult called uh-60j is completely decorated as a diorama, and there is no video showing it, so when I get the chance, I want to upload a video of me decorating the Blackhawk helicopter Kidult into such a diorama on RUclips! 4:08

Well, unless the whole thing was painted with an airbrush. Did you also brush it? 4:26
hvilke farger ble brukt?
When coloring this aircraft, it wasn't just done with one airbrush! 5:14
Well, unless the whole thing was painted with an airbrush. Did you also brush it? 5:35
How did you paint those small parts like seats [chairs]? 11:35
The whole thing is airbrushed, more or less. Some brush painting is always needed, but for the most part it's all work for the Harder&Steenbeck
With a brush, I guess
Hey what orange paint did you use i got this model but i dont know what paint they dont have the one on the box in stock
I used RC207 from AK. In hindsight, it's a bit sun bleached, so some red as an undercoat should probably do wonders if you want it to look more fresh
my dad built a 172 scale raf sea king helicopter
Gave an upvote just for the "level five swearwords" phrase...

If it were me. If you were to decorate a diorama like that with that 1/72 scale Kidult!. Rather than that Sea King, I'm thinking of assembling and painting the uh-60j Blackhawk and decorating it into a diorama! 3:29
Well, unless the whole thing was painted with an airbrush. Did you also brush it? 4:46
How did you paint the inside of the helicopter?? 0:09
But is it appropriate to color using lacquer paint and acrylic paint alternately? 4:04
Yes, that shouldn't be a problem. You might get some pain chemistry reactions, but testing on a paint mule should remove that risk.
The inside was painted before closing things up,
Hei! Hvordan fikk du laga radar-domen foran?
Den var en del av et resinsett, så man kan nok si at jeg juksa litt ;)
@@scalemodelhistory4174 kor får æ kjøpt et sånt sett? Vil ha radaren i front😄
Settet var fra Whirlybird i England, men jeg tror de har sluttet nå. Du må nok se på ebay eller noe for å finne
