- UPDATE! With Harnaaz Sandhu spectacularly winning the Miss Universe title on 12 December 2021, India is halfway to completing its third “Alpha Double”. Go Manasa!
Please note: This video was produced BEFORE Miss Universe and Miss World 2021.
Between 1994 and 2000 India enjoyed one of the most incredible eras of success at the Alpha pageants. Two Miss Universe crowns, four at Miss World, and two instances of the “Alpha Double” in that time - winning both titles in the same year.
With six Miss World titles overall, India is tied with Venezuela for the most blue crowns.
Recent results at both pageants, and the selection of two spectacular delegates to represent their country at this December’s competitions, have given some followers the hope another golden age is about to begin.

Finally India is sending two stunning girls to Miss Universe and Miss World.
If India develops a proper modelling industry it'll increase our chances to win. Since most of our Beauties who compete in these competitions are just students or non-models. Compare it to Brazil, the women competing are already models, they already have the experience to present themselves, they have the body, aura, confidence since before.
India still somehow manages to win.
The year 2000 was the ultimate high for India.
The top 3 winners in their Femina Miss India contest went on to win their respective contest.
Add to that the tittle of Mrs. World 2000/2001 Aditi Gowitrikar.

Whatever it is , the best spoken contestants from India were Lara Dutta, Mapreet Brar (1995 MU 1RU), and Sushmita Sen.
10:13 ... It is also worth noting that both Mr. World (2016) and Miss World (2017) were both from India-- so far not even Mr. and Miss Supranational has achieved this kind of win. :)

Miss Universe is soo beautiful an her answer was intelligent & fact. What ever I use to teach is there in her answer. Now a days our participants are raking seriously these competitions.
Beauty wise, both are the strongest in Asia. However, there are also strong contenders from the Latin region. I hope Indi will win a title if not both.

No matter what, MANASA and HARNAAZ are not settling less than TOP 3 finishes at all, mark my words, INDIA is expecting to extend the streak of winning ALPHA DOUBLES the same year, last year we were very close but had Adline placed top 3, INDIA would have extended top 3 finish streaks at GRAND SLAM beauty pageants for 7th year in a row, but do not sleep on the fact that INDIA is the highest placer from ASIA at the latest editions of MISS WORLD and MISS UNIVERSE so we are overpowering the Asian region for now and guess what our prospects will continue onto bringing the glory back to our nation. I agree. I think gold and silver are being overdone at the moment. It’s how Catriona stood out at MU 2018 by wearing bold red when everyone else was in silver/nude tones.

The results of each of this year's alpha pageants is something only time will tell. As it is often said - it is one girl's destiny to win it all !! And she can be from any part of this planet and rightly so.
However as an Indian, my only hope for delegates from my country is that they are able to put their best foot forward, that leading up to the D - day they and their teams has left no stone unturned. That despite the pressure of representing a billion and more people, they get their shot of confidence boost by knowing that they are also representing the courage, vulnerability and resilience of Indian women. And that no matter whatever be the result we all will be proud of them.
