Thanks Dani for the great recap! Personally I was very surprised that Peru and Belgium didn't make it, they were 2 of my faves.
My fave performances were: France (with only 4 days of preparation!), Bahamas, Aruba, Vietnam and Paraguay - and India, of course
I liked seeing some one-piece swimsuits
Will you be recapping Miss France? :)

What are your thoughts on the judges blatant display of favoritism towards their own candidates? The PH judge openly clapping when Miss Philippines came out. India Judge STOOD UP out of her seat clapping cheering loudly. I guess it’s only UNPROFESSIONAL & a cooking show when your candidate don’t make it to top 20. HYPOCRITES LMAO …Miss USA should’ve been top 5 … but of course being mediocre got rewarded instead. It helps when your judges got your back ~wink 😉 wink PH.. LMAO 🤣

What held Philippines back from the Top 3 was most likely the conviction in her answer. She was noticeably saying "um" and stammering a lot, so that lost the confidence of her answer. Similar with Colombia. She started strong, but I felt her getting uncertain in the second half of her answer.
South Africa and Paraguay, whether they answered the question well enough or not, were both assertive and confident with how they spoke, which is why they both advanced to the Top 3 with India.

Hey Dani, Im a Bahamian woman and lol I see that it's strange to everyone about our name change in MU. The thing is it's always been strange to us that it was just Bahamas when announced. Our country's name is literally The Bahamas and every where announced outside of MU in the world is The Bahamas. It has always made us cringe a bit when we heard it but I assumed it just had something to do with MU. Really happy they corrected it finally though. Love your channel!

Hi Dani! I always appreciate your level-headed commentary & insights on pageantry.
One other thing I heard why some ladies made the first cut was their overall attitude behind cameras. They are friendly towards the production staff & very professional with their dealings with the MUO people, which make them quite easy to work with. Perhaps when all the scores are closely bunched together during prelims (interviews, swimsuit, & evening gown), the determinant on who moves on to the next round rely on how they are towards the very people they potentially will closely work with.

Great show this year! It was indeed a production fit for 70th anniversary! I love the mix in the Top 16 as well! This only means that Miss Universe only focuses on performance and not on the sash! Andrea made me cry during her final walk and India made me realize that you really have to have balance in you to win the crown- beauty, brains and skills. I love this edition!!!

The best miss universe since 2018 Catriona grey like I think it’s been a while since they crowed a country who was ready for the crown and was consistent I think the last time a country was consistent and ready for the crown was in 2018 with Philippines but bravo to India for getting their third crown in 21 years applauds 👏👏👏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Really really love your thoughts and analysis. Philippines for me did really well, a lot of people underestimated her (they said that beatrice will placed around top 16 and even outside of top 16) but she proved them wrong and secured a top 5 spot with her performance. Congratulations to her, also to Miss India, and to the rest of the delegates. Thank you for this ep Dani 💛

Here in the Philippines, we are very happy with Bea's Top 5 finish. True, in content her answer was better than Paraguay but I guess the tipping point was her delivery because she stuttered on some words. Then again, we just had Pia winning in 2015 and Catriona in 2018. Maybe the MU org was anxious that if they put Bea in Top 3, she might ace the question and it will put them in a very big dilemma. Are they going to crown a Philippine delegate again in such a short time? If Bea's answer was better than the other two and they did not crown her, wouldn't it be even more controversial? But still, we are so happy. After 2 years of only making it to the first cut, we are back in Top 5 and that's already an achievement.

    • @gilbertbryce6712
      @gilbertbryce6712 2 года назад +3

Hello, I think the org does not have a problem with crowning another Ms. Philippines. Remember way back 2008 and 2009, Venezuela got the crown back-to-back and clinched it again in 2013. It was only a five dear gap from the back-to-back win. Nothing is impossible😉

    Some thoughts.
    1. Thailand's mention on any list was all sash factor because any other contestant with that walk would have been left off everyone's list.
    2. Miss USA phoned it in during Evening Gown. She looked tired or overwhelmed? We've seen her strong walk and that wasn't it.
    3. I think PR didn't make top 5 because she did too much during EG. Like the shoulders. What works for swimsuit doesn't always work for EG.
    4. India was CONSISTENT throughout. Not a surprise she took the crown. Brava!

The Top 16 was so deflating for us fans of beauty face, amazing body, the breathtaking catwalk
Where was Belgium, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Mexico, and so on?
It was so upsetting to keep watching the show after that.
Índia, it was well deserved. So Paraguay!

I think that Miss Thailand missed the top 16 not bec of her not so strong walk, but bec her confidence did not resonate. Since her advocacy is about body positivity, she needed to show that she can practice what she preached.

I think one misconception about pageant analysis is that just because someone can speak english it does not necessarily means she can be a good communicator or speaker.
I love the top 16 this year because I believe everyone deserves a spot, and while someone may have a better parasela or physical beauty, I believe it is too shallow to select based on those criteria alone. I was impressed when I saw Singapore, Japan, and the Bahamas share their thoughts in the some MU clips, so their placement at the top makes me very happy.
    Top 16 Swimsuit:
My top three choices were Puerto Rico, India, and France. I wish Venezuela had a better chance than Aruba, but I believe Aruba made such an impression on the judges that they couldn't give her a low score.
    Top 10 Long Gown:
Colombia was at the top of my list, followed by the Philippines and India, and I believe this is a good top five. I prefer France to South Africa, but I know that if they call SA, France will not make it, so I'm happy with the outcome.
    Top 5 QnA:
    India : Solid answer
SA : People consider her response to be divisive, but I believe the entirety of what she wants to say earned her a place at the top. "Everyone should be responsible for their actions," based on how I understood her message.
Paraguay: That temple answer reminded me of Valeria's answer in Miss Colombia; by the way, I believe it is her being likable gets her to the final three.
Colombia: I appreciate her response, but I wish she used her interpreter.
Philippines: good response, but her flurry of sentences at the end cut her short.
My Top 3 where: SA, India and Colombia
    Final Question:
From this point forward, I believe this is already a no-bearing round. As Colombia and the Philippines had already been eliminated, India solidified her position. Even if Paraguay had a strong response (but she didn't) she wouldn't snatched the title from India, her appeal and beauty secured her at second spot. South Africa was the weakest of the top five in Swimsuit and Evening Gown, so even if she had a better answer than Paraguay, she's in third place for me.
Conclusion: A good production, a high-quality Semifinalist, and a result that everyone (or the majority) is happy with

    Great reCap.
Ive not posted anywhere else of the 3 vlogs worthy to follow, but i will here!
I am here because you literally spoke the words I’ve not been able to articulate & communicate to any of my pageant friends.
    I agree
    I AGREE
    I AGREE!
The only words I’ve been able to share with others is how MUSA’s Gown Stood out in the top 10 line up with the other 9 & ALL those Gold & Silver gowns…
Elle did an AMAZING JOB in such a short turn around! I would love to know WHO her top 10 gown designer WAS!
The beading design around hips to main body is very
    similar to Philippines, IMO
I felt India deservedly won the whole Gig & i think Philippines & Colombia Should have been top 3.
Stewart, as the new MUSA owner is NOT PLAYING AROUND!!!
I think overall, this was best stage set up for competitor & viewer & IMG is slowly getting it TOGETHER.
We are witnessing a shift in pageantry & the traditional cookie cutter contestants & winners are behind us!
I look forward to what the future brings!!!
Would love to see a similar informal sit down discussion amongst the top 10 at future Miss Universe competitions that was utilized
in the top 8 at Miss USA!
This will put a STAMP on the Miss Universe Branding as a pageant, setting the standards for cutting edge pageantry competition and result in a cutting edge winner ready to reign Supreme!
Go Get It IMG & INDIA!
    Great Job DANI
