Go Earl!!!! Great memories... you didn't even break a sweat. How could that proper audience just sit there without even clapping to the beat is unbelievable.
When you listen to MFSB & Sal Soul Orchestra you realise that there was so much talent on in the music scene that has has disappeared from the world. This were the amazing big bands of soul music that give both the world and people with joy and happiness. From the first world countries to the developing world the respond was common and the same and people responded positively to the music. Even today when you talk about MFSB & Sal Soul Orchestra the people will tell you what was life about how much the enjoy they life. During the period of the great Kenny , Leon ,Thom and Vincent there was no pain and sorrow only love and happiness was two dominant in people's life.
Who is still listening to this great music in 2024? R.I.P. to Vince Montana and salute to all the great musicians in MFSB. Long live the Philly Soul Sound. 😎
TSOP was my theme song while I was a disco dj from 1975-93. What wonderful music was performed over the years. We met briefly in NYC at the Disco Convention in 1979, I believe. You were a gentleman and a terrific person I got to meet. Thanks Vince! Johnny George
wow oh wow oh wow. This is the only video I have come across that features the entire M.F.S.B. orchestra live. Unbelievably rare and a pure joy to view. Thank you Mothers, Fathers, Sisters and Brothers for that great Philly sound!
ZACH'S ALTO SOLO IS HOT!!!! I can hear it way down in the recording, but it is there, and smoking' as always. Zach will never be forgotten. Oh...and that powerful trombone section!
Bring this marvelous, great, fantastic, contagious music to Brazil and let's see if anything can be stopped as a wall like this audience.... Vincent, MFSB, Phiily and the best of the bests ever...
Wow you can see Bobby Eli, Ronnie Baker (chewing gum while playing) and obviously the great Earl Young. Not sure who is playing congas and bongos? Was that Larry Washington? Edited - Yep, in deed that is Larry Washington, only read the video write-up now.
Would have LOVED to see/hear this live in New York, either Central or Prospect Park. New Yorkers would have lost their minds! Spent a LOT of $$$ on Philly International and Salsoul/Gold Mind labels back in the day, even more fun spinning those hits! I STILL have my original double vinyl Philadelphia Classics from late '77. I wish Kenny & Leon would launch a channel on Sirius/XM for the Philly Sound. SIGMA SOUND STUDIOS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUSEUM!!! Philadelphia, how could tear down such an historic location!!!
Hands down, the Best Dance Record EVER produced. For a certain, select group of club cognoscenti it was, and always will be, the National Anthem. 1127 Walnut St (Philly) and 84 King (NY) Forever....
Linda Creed I never knew and I assume she's r.i.p. since the video opened in memorial to her. I never conducted an orchestra in my life and can do just as good of a conduction with my hands tied behind my back ,blindfolded, having finished 11 revolution with my head down on a baseball bat to get dizzy as if the mixed spirits weren't enough you know when its backyard fun and games ,my conducting skills would be over achieved in comparison to Mr. Montana's ,I'm not one to lie so certain conditions I add must apply , an orchestra having the talented members of the one and only , second to none Mother Father Sister Brother, truely a state of the art in laid back music listening. With killers let loose, some on their own on the loose and one last still on the loose continuing to shake up a miserable world A gained respect killer Coronavirus aka Covid-19 now called by the miserable world finally or is too late to show respect nevertheless your copying skills I insist you add music that of MFSB they uses strings aka violins with perfection unseen and unheard in this video take my word ,again I'm not one to lie even you will do better than Vinny.
THE GREATEST SONG ON THE PLANET THEN AND NOW..IT IS A TRUE TESTIMONY TO HOUSE AS WE KNEW IT IN THE 70'S ..IWORKED AT TEEN DISCO MAT AND WE COULD NOT KEEP STOCK IN THE STORE FOR OVER A YEAR WHEN THE LP WAS RELEASED...IT WAS MONUMENTAL...BOBBY TAYLOR
As usual the real genius is overlooked for years, He is up there with Lenny B. but he never made it to a pres. honor. SO WHAT The message is more important than the messenger. With great respect of the R. Srauss of our time.Peace.
im from Brasil!!!!!! subscribed , could anyone tell me how can such mervelous souind and vision,,,, be possible,,,, see it ev ery day ITS TIME TO GET IT ONNNNN
I know this is a fancy fundraiser and everything but can someone actually clap and get up and dance? And is this entire performance available somewhere?
Bad art incites violence, and all the catastrophes that are happening right now, are due to all the lack of talent that pervades the world in this moment in time.
@@louisgonzalez8846 ....weird ! The 8os was my youth...aged horribly....garbage is garbage. I discovered the TSOP Sound/early symphonic disco in the 9os. Now I live musically in 1975 ...forever. 😀💕...class and talent galore.
I'm doing a fund me page shortly to help me with a playwright I'm current working on for a bdwy musical on the story of TSOP. I hope each & everyone will contribute as much as you can afford. I promise your investment will be the best Trip in Amercica!

♥♥♥♥
five stars at all....
what a bunch of stiffs in the audience. This is classic and something we we never see or experience again
I know this is a fancy fundraiser and everything but can someone actually clap and get up and dance? And is this entire performance available somewhere?
This era was the best! I can't listen to any music from this era. It sucks!
Bad art incites violence, and all the catastrophes that are happening right now, are due to all the lack of talent that pervades the world in this moment in time.
The Philadelphia Sound of the awesome 1970s being played during the horrible Synth era of the 1980s..
And to think a lot of idiots glorify that synth sound, thinking that it will make them seem younger than they are. Ignorance is bold
Huh,????

Who is the orignal drummer on the recording?
The great Philadelphia drummer Earl Young.

The audience looks like wax figures. I would've been on my feet!
The days when you had to play an instrument & not listen to all the autotune
from major to minor $$$
you can tell he's italian by the way he dances...lol
