I show you how to remove the yellowing from vintage plastics with Retr0bright method.
This time I restored the Original Xbox 360 Controller it is quite badly yellowed and dirty both inside and outside.
I feel the controller is very simple compared to the Playstation controller, even though the original controller is not quite as advanced as the DualShock I've restored on this channel. Just a few screws holding the case closed.
(Retrobrighting)To return the yellow color of the plastic to its true white color
What was used in this video?
1- Hair color-lightening cream contains 9% Hydrogen peroxide
2- Sodium bicarbonate
3- OXI Action
4- Isopropyl Alcohol
5- Sunlight was used as a natural source of ultraviolet rays.
How to Remove Yellow Stains from Plastic
Whether they're from foods, sunlight, or chemical reactions, yellow stains often show up on plastic. There are many ways you can try to tackle these stains, such as soaking the plastic in bleach, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide
Coat the plastic in hydrogen peroxide to fix discoloration. Hydrogen peroxide works well on plastics that have turned entirely yellow instead of in just one spot. Fill a plastic bag with enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the plastic. Stick the plastic in the bag of hydrogen peroxide and lay it out in direct sunlight. Wait 3-4 hours before rinsing it off with clean water.[5]
You can purchase hydrogen peroxide at a drugstore or big box store.
If you’re treating some sort of plastic mechanism, make sure you remove all the parts that aren’t plastic before putting them into the hydrogen peroxide.
You can also use an old toothbrush to scrub the hydrogen peroxide onto the plastic if desired

but not the 360.
Edit - Also the fact that it's very difficult to acquire the xbox series X and playstation 5 to the point where its pretty much impossible unless your willing to pay about £200/$275 over the RRP... it might aswell not have even been released and kind of leaves it out of the equation in my opinion.

You can hardly consider this “retro.” Give it another 5-10 years and then I would consider it to be truly retro. That said, good job on the restoration. Brings back memories.

This video brought on all the nostalgia. I recently found my old XBOX 360. I was so happy to find it; it's the first I've bought with my first ever paycheck. I was so happy because my father never allowed us to play video games and that was the first foray I've had with video games. It required some repairs for it to work and the repairs are a bit steep for me since I'm currently unemployed, but one day I'll get it fixed.
When you see 360 in a retro tech restoration video, wow time flies!
It ain't retro, there are still games that were made for that console that are still widely played today for example Minecraft xbox 360 edition still has a big player base, some call of duties, hell even some b tier games like dead rising 2 ive played and people still join my lobbies like it really isn't retro at all. Retro is something that is considered I would say classic and the first of that generation like the og xbox or ps2 and under. Besides this videos controller seems like he purposefully dirtied it since the insides and joysticks seem pretty darn new and in good condition.
*I would always load the batteries like I was loading the Olympia from BO1.*

I still have an Xbox 360, a Battlefield 3 Edition Xbox 360 E (2013), and so far, that is the only console I ever owned. I got it in 2016, and it’s still working. I love it.

I had an Xbox 360 for what seemed like forever and I loved playing the old Minecraft mini games like the one that was basically spleef with all the floating layers, the fighting one with all the fun and really big maps and spleef with shovels. I also remember when the aquatic update was the best thing. I wish we could play those old mini games again with those maps. There probably is a way but idk how many people would play it.

Franchement je suis pas d'accord. Le plus dur la dedans c'est les soudures... Et encore...quand t'as les bonnes pointes et l'absorbeur d'étain c'est easy.
Des manettes comme ça j'en fait trois ou quatre en même temps. Il a même pas remplacé les sticks analogique qui sont détérioré. C'est vraiment le point faible de ces manette. Les sticks ne durent pas. Faut les remplacer par des sticks alu.

EDIT: xbox 360 was a GREAT console. i think ps3 was slightly better because of the exclusives but xbox 360 was near there. it's a way better console then the xbox one and series x. it's not about graphics. it's about the many good games on there and the friendships that have been made with xbox live. no toxic kids (most of the time) and not lgbtq supporters going in your face if you have an opinion differently then them. so it's sad to see ya'll childhood get washed away since in about 4-5 years it's gonna be considered vintage. (i never grew up with the 360)

Something is odd about the fact that the controller is extremely dirty, but in the battery section its perfectly white, and the springs arent even rusty. I still have 2 xbox 360 controllers, and neither are slightly dirty.
I know that the battery section is covered, but if the outside looks like he used it to dig to the earths core, the battery section wouldn’t be pristine.

It's probably a fake restoration video, the integrity of the controller is to good compared to the dirtiness of it. Like is was used once and dumped to a bin.
I'd say I because the battery compartment had more protection from the elements, assuming they just had the controller in some dusty cabinet somewhere
It’s really not that odd, the yellowing is likely caused by UV damage and inside the battery pack/internals wouldn’t be impacted. Plus the controllers, as we saw, are sealed very well, keeping most dirt/debris out
Probably was impossible to find a dirty one he probably just messed with some cosmetics to make the repair look better

I can't belive it, that this controler is already very old. I repaired my 5 years old 360 controller already. Cable broken. But working today. I had birthday and bought the newest xbox controller in blue and it looks very modern. Can't belive it, that it looks it for me now very old.

чет мне кажется что пи_дежоп попахивает от его реставрации. Какая-то чудо мазь которая всю грязь из пластика выводит невероятным образом и делает его прям визуально в сто раз лучше чем оригинал.

That board looks new, my controller was abandoned like for 5 months and it wasn't outside, it was inside a box and the board was almost done cover in oxide!

I think it depends on the ambient humidity. I've had my controller since 2006, I've abandoned it in a drawer multiple times for years at a time and the board still looks brand new.

One thing that amazes me the most about this particular controller, given the condition, is that the analog sticks actually return to center. Usually on the 360 controller thats the first thing to start going.
