You’d be surprised how resilient the old game boys are. To be honest as long as there’s no batteries in the system or other power source you can safely dump the circuit boards in soapy water to clean them without fear of them shorting out. Just make sure you fully dry the boards before you put the batteries back in. Most of the time you can clean the boards with rubbing alcohol, but when the system has been submerged for so long it’s sometimes best to just full on water bath the thing. I don’t think this was in the puddle for only 5 minutes because the outer shell itself and inner “heat shield” and the screen sponge had some pretty decent water logging going on. Not something that usually forms on plastics in 5 minutes or relatively fast. He was sanding it off after the water bath. @@alex__woods A few things. It is covered in mud and looks like it’s been buried in the ground for years yet it’s sitting in plain view. The fact that someone is filming him walk up to it and pick it up. This looks like an impoverished area where items like this being found would be extremely rare and anything of any possible value would be picked clean in a place like that. The Purple GBA... I had it as a kid. It came as a bundle with Warioland 4. My dad bought it for me and it was one of my most prized possession. Seeing it in such a state before restoration breaks my heart.

I've already said this, and it's a very risky thing to say. Imagine you are in an island, and there is another island there. And you want to conquer it. And they are ruled by a leader. "Oh but they are disciplined, and they obey their leader. It's impossible to defeat them." Ah, then we will impose democracy on them. Democratic propaganda! We will promote the most democratic way. "Oh, but they also have incredible faith in God! They have such faith in God that they never abandon the front." Ah, then let's promote atheism. Church time is over. From now on, only night clubs. "Oh, but the youth are healthy and strong. They're in formidable shape. They are the way the Creator made them: in his image." Ok then, from now on McDonald's, Coca-Cola, drugs and alcohol. Let them be fat, old and undisciplined. We mush abolish military service. "Ah... yeah but the other thing is that they are homogenous. They are a single people, a single race. There is no ethnic chaos." Ok, then in whatever way, we must send them boats with blacks, Africans, Chinese. "But they have a lot of babies! 6 or 7 babies on average! They're happy to have large families!" Ok, from now on abortion, the pill. You have defeated that island now.
Nice work. Though it’s more believable that you specifically found this gameboy on an oh so random day. You legit had all the tools back home that could specifically fix a game boy while still having all the spare parts needed at manufacturer level… dude
I've fixed a few, I'm gonna call this bull shit. Not the same screen, new battery cover, new stickers, I don't think it's the same motherboard (if it is, there is a lot of soldering of replacement parts not shown in this video) . I'm gonna guess that the only original parts are the shell and the buttons. Can get all parts on Ali Express for less than $20 (except the motherboard). You try to avoid submerging any electronics in liquid. Step one should have been; Locate the screws. Step two, disassemble. step three, clean, only submerge non electronic parts. Step four, test individual parts. Five, replace faulty parts. Six, reassemble.
@@dustanglx50 You absolutely can submerge electronics in water, as long as you dry it before you put current through it. But otherwise, yes... I call this bullshit aswell.
@@dxb8086 I try to avoid it. By submerging it, you are putting faith in the components (capacitors and chips) not having any imperfections to let moisture in that can't be dried easily. The volume wheel and the power switch on those devices also have small areas where water can get in, and be very hard to dry. You can submerge, but it's not the best approach.
It is INSANE REPLACE not Repair. Shell - replaced, you have to be INSANE to believe that thick paint can paint inside screwholes. Screen - Replaced, those screens are dead the moment they become wet. White plastic garments - Replaced, the solution to bleach them would dissolve the rubber buttons. It is INSANE, yes, thanks to the dislike counter this video is still found and looks legit so yeah, it is INSANE SCAM OF YOUR TIME, if you try this you will be the INSANE one, because it will ruin your electronics and casing.
The most impressive thing is that I'm watching the video with 360 audio headphones and I can hear your family, your TV and your dog just RIGHT behind me.
In case anybody is unfamiliar with restoration, motherboards do not go anywhere near water, you are throwing away practically the entirety of your hard work by touching it up with water, brushing it with water or submerging it
I respect the delicate touch you use when scraping human feces off of that GBA with a light brush. I never would have been able to pick it up from the filth with my bare hand though. Mad props
Wow, finding a gameboy in a pile of trash while being filming it and it happened they were a restoration chanel, so much luck! And despite all that dirt, the battery connections are not even slightly rusty! And the label have not even broken down! Not even slightly distached! Amazing how much luck they have! And that skill at finding a tiny malfunctioning electronic piece by litteraly taking measures at random places on the motherboard not even related to that piece. Good Job. Went from made in China to made in Japan.
Did U ever think maybe they are a restoration channel so that’s why they were looking through piles of trash and filming? Also how many piles of trash they looked through and didn’t show in the video? Maybe the video was taken first and not the subject and name of the restoration video and was names so after whatever they find while filming? The connections are not rusty from the dirt so the case should be broken from being out in those conditions, the screen should be cracked, the buttons should be missing and nothing should be left. Or maybe the connections just didn’t rust. Maybe someone just needs a friend.
They probably staged the finding then again the rust seems real enough and the rest of complains are absurd, are you sure u know exactly what they tested on the mobo? If you saw that rust inside do you think it wasnt left in a humid place? you belive the whole restoration was staged?! Good eye tho.

Amazing work on the casing from 5:58 to 15:33, they even redesigned the shape of the top screw hole, changed the location of the circle bumps, and added 2 rectangle holes on the left of the biggest pin.
Miracles seem to be a thing now. And my forehead has at least two more wrinkles after watching the video, yet another surprise 🤔

They magicked a battery cover out of thin air too, as they certainly didn't find it with one. Oopsies.
Yeah, I didn't buy this in the first few moments of cleaning when not a single bit was taken apart. Just throw the whole damn thing in some soapy water and call it the day I guess.

@@dustanglx50 how do we know it was water? Could have used ultrasonic solution....
That is an INSANE repair. It honestly looked unfixable in that very dirty place.
It's INSANE to think it could be repaired in that state it was unfixable...109 INSANE likes on your comment now that's INSANE Haha

OMG I cant believe you actually found it live on camera at the end of walking past all that trash at the foot of that palm tree and was able to clean it off with a soft paint brush and water and still turn it on OMG 😱 🤦♂️
😂
Yeah, super lucky the camera guy was already recording him walk by!
Dude these videos are so staged it’s not even funny.
I mean everyone can see it's fake but we're still watching it right?
sarcasm detected XD
There's no way a GBA was *that* badly treated. Call outs aside, that was a pretty interesting video to watch.
Pretty interesting how you don't realise that is fake. :)
@@dumazipeliukai pretty interesting how you literally just called out henryh10x_ for not realizing it was fake despite the fact the whole point of their comment was for the callout being fake :)
@@mrtesticlease4638 pretty interesting how you pointed that to mr. two little mice, clarifying the situation for him, and creating a good scenery for the exchange of correct informations.
Dude I’m sorry but this video is fake, they frickin S O A K E D the CPU, the battery port, the Headphone jack, the entire system that runs the screen AND the console as a WHOLE. The gameboy advance as well as all other Nintendo consoles are hella not waterproofed. After the wear they “found” that thing in it was never meant to ever function again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they faked and potentially (forget I said potentially they DEFINITELY did) with 2 gameboy consoles (just showed the new one on-screen when they needed to show functionality). These guys are frauds.

This is all really impressive and cool, but I must say...The spray paint looks terrible. I feel like this whole project would be completely perfect if you had either not painted it and left the imperfections of the plastic show from its former life, or used a better looking paint with a nice finish on it. The spray paint just looks cheep and tacky and sticky to the touch (I also hate red but that's obviously a personal opinion lol). But otherwise fantastic job!

This is an excellent restoration, but I really hate the spray painting job. It looks sticky and overly glossy, I think it could have been done much better. I feel like it would've been cool to not paint over it at all and leave it with its imperfections to show the wear and tear it went through despite it working again, but it wouldn't be as much of a restoration then haha
i agree, the paint looked horrible.
This is fake...

@@palerider2143 yes, its fake. If you find a GBA outside in that condition, the screean is 100% dead. But the cleaning process is not the problem, you can clean the electronics WITHOUT BATTERY with soap and water but you need to dry and rinse with alcohol thoroughly. all components are individually insulated, but the board paths are not.
@@12bng Thats what im saying?
Seriously, there are people who believe this is real, I am an electronic engineering student and there is no way this video is real, the only thing they did was clean it, they never did any component change, which also shows that it is fake
I thought so.
Listen buddy, I’ve been in custodial services for over 17 years now and you cant just under estimate what a well needed cleaning can do to a floor or even a game-boy. It practically makes them like new so maybe even literally too. You should mind youre manners before speaking out of turn and disrespecting cleaning which is a very essential part of our world.
@@coffeegroundsbear9974 oh yeah? Well how does that apply to a gameboy? Absolutely NOT at all, good day with your ignorance
@@coffeegroundsbear9974 “mind your manners” there’s no way u can repair that in components
