    One good trick for quickly marking wires is using an autowriter, put a dog on the hdlt plug,and a dot on hdlt, 2 dots on the fog light plugs, a line on the marker lamp plug. With only 2 or 3 colors I can mark a dozen wires and wire routing locations

    The GM position statement says that the pre and post scan has to be done by a GM qualified facility. Farm Bureau refuses to pay my shop for those scans so we take those vehicles to our local GM dealership and have the scans performed. The cost is roughly twice what we charge for the same scans. Farm Bureau pays these charges with no problem. Maybe this is why their premiums are so high....

    On average how many vehicles are you able to fully blueprint in a days time? (Without total losses) I’m aware that severity varies. Just looking for a general number. Example (4-8 cars)

  • @chrisponsauto
    @chrisponsauto 6 лет назад

    In this case with the 12 chevy being a total loss what do you charge the ins company for the blueprinting process. I know they will pay tear down time what is reasonable to charge for the time and effort and information it took to determine it a total loss?

    • @Collisionhub
      @Collisionhub  6 лет назад +4

      chrisponsauto This would have been an obvious so if you inform them and they do not request an estimate then only admin and storage would apply.
      Then there would be the research time, labor for the operations performed by the tech, pre-measure and pre-scan as well as Estimating fee.

      @@Collisionhub I heard it’s illegal to charge for an admin fee in California, is it true?

    About the burn mark on the seat belt. Will the insurance even give the budget to replace the seat belt?

    • @Collisionhub
      @Collisionhub  3 года назад

      Yes, they pay to replace belts, buckles, tensioners, etc all the time. Just need the documentation and have the conversation.

    Great Job but I think you missed a few key steps because I did not see the tech check all system functions to identify accident related problems including Horn,Lights,Washers ect and also you need to check for Unrelated Prior Damage U.P.D Both steps need to be included in any Blueprinting and Repair process for reduced cycle times and possible upsale if you just did a $8,000 dollar rear body repair on a car would you let it leave your shop missing a $45 dollar fog lamp bezel in the front of the car that was U.P.D ?

    wow blueprinting would total almost every car from minor accidents! this could run all of us out of business. no one is even going to get paid for all this stuff and we would need lots of people just to do this process. its unrealistic. Research? how far can you research all this info. You could spend days on research. Insurance companies want cars to be fixed quickly and with an eye on cost. Some of the process is ok but it can get out of hand when you say this process may take longer than the repair of the car. WHO PAYS US FOR ALL OF THIS?
    we are in business to make money and this needs to be charged and agreed to before the process begins. Please let me know what insurance companies are willing to pay for blueprinting and how many hours they would approve. I bet you will not answer that question. I dare you to answer that question with a real answer not a bs answer

    • @davidt2963
      @davidt2963 9 месяцев назад

      Of course they'll never answer this question, because what they are doing is ridiculous. Imagine every time a vehicle goes to the dealer for an oil change and this was required. Omg....The liability of the dealer doing an oil change with out a full blueprint!!

    • @michaelparsons3188
      @michaelparsons3188 7 месяцев назад

      Well, with data bases like ALLDATA it makes the research alot easier. You have access to Adas diag and programming, position statements, measurements, labor times not available in ccc one or mitchell. It will cost you, but a great resource

    • @michaelparsons3188
      @michaelparsons3188 7 месяцев назад

      Also... no one pays for blueprinting. It helps the shop identify and repair process. Making sure their is no liability on the shop doing its due diligence.
      However, while most insurance companies do want it fixed fast, they do want it right. If it leaves the shop and has issues and has to go back over and over, it's a problem for all parties involved. I can personally attest that if your a DRP for a company like Geico, your forced to follow certain guidelines. However, you have the ability to negotiate some operations as long as they are reasonable. Trying to charge for "research" is just dumb. But charging for "inspections" and R&Is for the inspections... completely legit. Quote for any adas calibrations upfront with markups so the insurance will have the expectation of a specific amount, even if it's on the final supplement. But for the most part if you do your job as an Estimator and capture all you can up front with the blue print process, you'll have better cycle time, keys to keys, higher GP from a better production flow, and most of your repairs will be paid for up front with a very small or possibly no supplement.

    Those light poles jump out in front of you. Don't judge. All you tech experts are so high and mighty, you can't survive doing the work so you try to tell the actual techs how to do it. And you demonize us during the process. It's a tough living trying to dot every i. That's why I'm poor.

    Larry Montanez. Measure a car for a key scratch?? Is this a money grab from the customer or insurance company? You're either delusional, unethical, or unscrupulous.
