Oh boy, you lost me completely on Sony. This button is great. Period. For those who don't know, it lets you open camera app instantly, and can be even set it up to capture a photo while opening. Bo double click on power button. No swipe from shortcut. Just press it for like 0.7 sec and you can capture a fleeting moment. It is two staged, so pressing it to the point locks focus, pressing it completely captures a photo and holding it down captures a series. I don't like a lot of Sony's Android experience, their pricing and support (I do not own Xperia anymore and probably I wont). But hating this camera button is borderline idiotic.
So true, i don't know how often i missed a good photo, because it took too long for my fiddely fingers to open the camera app manually and take it. I am so glad that apple added a SHUTTER BUTTON (fuck off camera control, nobody gives a shit), so i can just spam click the shit out of it while taking my phone out and that it'll be ready by the time i have pointed it on the thing.
@arctrix765 couldn't agree more. I feel like they added all of those swipes gestures unnecessarily, to just differentiate themselves from Sony's button. But all they needed to do is to add the same button. But hey, the shutter button is a shutter button. Cannot wait for more phone manufacturers to start to copying Apple copying Sony.
Not saying g I hate the camera button but you could pick up the phone which automatically turns on the screen, press the camera button on the lock screen and press the volume buttons to do the same thing all within 3 seconds. The action button can be set to do the same thing, it would be idiotic to think this is game changing stuff.
The camera control button feels especially weird to me because I really thought the whole reason Apple refuses to integrate a fingerprint reader into the power button is because the cases would have to have a giant cutout for it. Yeah, there are the nicer/more expensive cases that have capacitive buttons for the camera control, but it's still odd that they did that.
Sony keeps the button simple and effective because it simply works the way that people think how it should work. Apple were trying too hard to enhance the camera control button but forgot about the simplicity and convenience.
LOL. Dude literally made an entire video as an excuse to go on a "I hate change! Apple told me touchscreens are better so I have to believe that!" rant.
Xperia's treatment of the shutter button downright perfect, as it is a two step trigger going from smart autofocus to capture, that's where apple failed, their button is just too much without adding any functional advantage as focus is still controlled by tapping and all the mini menus are accessible by swiping
I had a "assistance bottom" on my Xiaomi Mi 9, which I used to turn on the light, but I quickly regretted, I turned on the light accidentally without noticing many times, making to spend big amount of battery lol.
I love these types of videos, especially your voice is satisfying to listen to. Please take this as constructive criticism, you should try to make the script of your videos sound less AI generated. Try doing this by adding more personal opinions, rather than just presenting a list of information you found. Anyway, you're criminally underrated, i wish you had more vids up on your channel.
I *loved* squeeze for assistant. The sensitivity slider worked really well, and I don't think I ever accidentally triggered it. And unlike all the other buttons in this video, if you decide to turn the feature off you won't even notice anything because the squeeze sensors were completely hidden.
Would be cool to see you make a vid on Apple increasing their phone sizes over the years even though they had an iPhone 5 ad about how big phones made no sense.
Options. Apple has regressed in that area by only offering Face ID and removing Touch ID on iPhones. They still use Touch ID on MacBooks and iPads. @@su.demm.
I absolutely hate LG having volume and power buttons on the back. I constantly smudged my camera. Might’ve just been the model I had (k8v) but it was awful
Great video, but the only thing I totally disagree with you on is the inclusion of the squeezable sides on the Google Pixel 2 and 3 series. That feature was actually REALLY useful. You had the option to adjust the sensitivity to firm. I had the Pixel 2 XL for 5 years and I never had any issues with triggering the Assistant accidentally.
To be fair, I never once had an accident squeeze on any of my pixel phones that had the squeeze function. I actually miss it and think it'd be really good on them now. You could also set the sensitivity. Mine was on default and work perfectly fine
A great video as always, but anyway when it comes to the camera control button, its placement can make or break its success. For example, if it's placed in the correct spot so that it isn't pressed easily or accessed easily then it would be a great button and be more confident, but if it's placed in the wrong spot then it would be really annoying and inconvenient.
the squeeze-to-launch google assistant button was also on the google pixel 4, but i think it was more reliable on that device than it was in the past i think (you can change the sensitivity in the settings)
I wonder what people think about the iphone action button vs the old fashioned toggle switch? I mean it was nice to be able to discretely switch off sound in your pocket without even looking.
Damn. Kinda got lazy with the first one didnt ya? Bixby button DID NOT go away after the S10. After S10, the Bixby button REPLACED THE POWER BUTTON as a default. You had to change the default settings of the "side key" to turn off Bixby. Dont get lazy with the research. This vid could be the first vid people watch from you
I think buttons are useless but the masses like them. in reality, how many times during the day do you lower or raise volume? maybe once or twice(never with the screen off because I need visual feedback). The only button that makes sense is the power button but this is because manufacturers never give us another option. With tap to wake you don't need a power button to wake the screen up and if we had a tap to lock option we wouldn't need a power button. I know people whose phones are unusable because the p button registers presses, don't work or are stuck. This is a real problem.
The Camera Control button could literally function as Touch ID if they don't want to add it on the screen
It’s Apple, you’ll have to wait for at least 2 years before they implement it on a Pro model.
Not on the iPhone 16, it can't. There's no biometric sensor.
@@just_mdd4 thats the whole point, there easily could be.
if they're gonna do this, then might as well integrate it to the power button
until you see android packing the TouchID into the POWER button
Sony shutter button is not a new gimmick, though. Sony phones always come with a shutter button from the beginning.
Yeah they been around since the Ericson day
What about if they had a right to repair button
When you press it it goes "hahaha you thought we would actually do that"

"Smartphone Buttons that Should've Never Existed"
- mentions Bixby and Sony's shutter button
Do my ears deceive me?
I found that shutter button really useful for quick shot. I has half press for focusing not single press like bixby.

Adding a useless button to the iPhone was the biggest disrespect to steve Jobs.

Touch ID should be on the iPhone Power Button on every iPhone since the X
you have face id which is faster and you dont have to do literally anything expect looking at the phone

apple just keeps adding accessibility buttons
I THOUGHT WE WERE TRYING TO REMOVE BUTTONS
AND NOBODY ASKED FOR EASIER ACCESSIBILITY
The worse part. Its not even easier. Its just slower
@ ikr? wasnt our goal to remove buttons? and not add them?

Here’s a simple solution: Create a shortcut that only turns silent mode on instead of toggling it on/off
The camera control button. The button and control should have been incorporated in the existing Action Button.
