I'm thinking of buying a 2023 I ride verry aggressive and gas around tight corners but some times I ride with my buddies and they are all on utility's and go slow would this overheat or become unreliable if I baby it and go slow like that?
@Smile Plays VR no, it will work fine but yfz's aren't known for having low end torque. All its power and torque is when revving real high. If your looking for best of both worlds (aggressive riding, and trail riding) I'd go with the raptor cause it also has reverse and its much smoother suspension wise.
I agree on the engine performance, I have a 2008 YFZ450SE, and its almost like riding a 2 stroke. It bogs easily if you load it down at low rpm, but once you are up into the powerband, its crazy fast.
You forgot to mention about skill that 4 wheeler is meant for a more experienced rider you are right those things do not like to idle it can ruin the engine overheat it. I’m a pretty good rider but even that quad is definitely a-lot to handle in the trails. It definitely takes someone that knows how a quad reacts when running and wants to go fast on it in the track/woods.
Its the quality of the plastic. Whp cares when they were $3k. When they are $14k its a different expectation. If you are happy to pay more for the same quality more power to you.
Never had trouble cruising with a yfz at least what i do i ride around town on street and ride trails with utvs and utilit quads. My quad was a 06 anniversary edition built to a 490 fully built engine. But my stock 06 did fine too.
In the bikelife scene a yfz450 and banshees are the quads everybody wants. I hopefully I get another quad maybe a trx450r and make it for trails strictly, my ltz400 is for street and trails
excellent video. i would also add they are pushing 50inches, so if you ride tight woods trails, you may want to consider something a little more narrow. Also their seat may become less comfortable the longer they ride. Just a few things ive noticed over the years.
So pretty much if you ride like a lazy old fart don't buy this quad. Literally nothing you mentioned, besides price, is an actual issue with the machine. I'm not one to usually criticize, but this video was pretty pointless.
Did you have to get longer cables since you did a handlebar riser kit on it? Coming from raptors the yfz has lower handlebars and makes you feel like your almost leaning over the handlebars.
I don't have any experience dune riding but the 05 I had was a blast on trails. Actually a little easier to ride than the new 450's. The engine and suspension aren't quite as aggressive, but still plenty of power and a lot of fun to ride.
@@cchhiillaannggoo in michigan, the trails are only 50inches at best, 450 too wide. also the raptors taller gear ratio makes it ideal for trail riding where the 450 i would be constantly shifting keeping the revs up.
Nothing on the heat off the exhaust? Lol Bro your wearing shorts. Lol Good video bro. Bought my first yamaha yfz 450r. I don't like the play in the steering stem
Haha. That was a standing only video, no riding. Good point! Forgot about the heat. Ive had an 03, 04, 10, and 21 and all would burn you in about 5 minutes. Same for Raptor 700s as well. Thanks for commenting.
The Homda 250 EX and Suzuki Z250 were made as entry level sport quads with manual clutches. The Honda can even be ridden as an automatic or use the clutch. Good luck.
The 450 is definitely faster. But you will up reverse and you’re going to have a bit firmer suspension. If you do more motocross riding then the YFZ would probably be better. If you’re doing tighter or more technicql trail riding, thats a tougher call. I have a video comparing the Z 400 andYFZ if you want to check it out.
@@RaptorWRLD you have to turn your volume up super high to be able to hear him. His voice is clear but super low due to distance from recording device as well as audio level not turned up to compensate during post edit before posting to RUclips.
Theyre race quads so yhh theyre not desighned to be riden slow , have personally owned a few 450r's and yhh they like to go fast but lets be honest if your looking to just cruise then you probably wouldnt be looking to get this in th first place
Wouldn’t it be cool if Yamaha made YFZ450R trail addition with bigger fuel tank, reverse gear and be able to lug without overheating, Or make a more race inspired Raptor 700R with a lower wider stance, and may be more travel in the shocks, and somehow we lose the extra 2 inches height on the motor, somehow lower it it’s not so tippy personally I’d like to see the 450R set up for trail riding.
Thanks for commenting. I am fascinated but how fans (of which I am one of this machine) refuse to acknowledge something can be great and yet not perfect at everything. Every design choice impacts the use case one way or the other. Its not a good or bad thing, its just designing and engineering a product for its intended use. Which will then impact other uses. And why not be informed before buying something. Works for me.

Most the reasons he said about the yfz is what I like about these beasts. Keep in mind these machines are so easy to mod and get crazy power out of

My #1 complaint would be the low fuel capacity
Good points though
Also a good point.
@@FunGoingFast I don't expect a 6 gallon tank like my Kodiak, but 3.5-4 gallons would have been nice
Be nice if they’d offer carbon fiber body for like an extra 750 or something instead of the plastics

You want to change the clutch basket to a Hinson or a stock 09-10 clutch basket before you blow it up . I have already be down that road .

Why dont I believe you that you don’t normally criticize…
Well most of the stuff I watch on RUclips usually has a point that makes the video worth watching...so there's that
Did you have to get longer cables since you did a handlebar riser kit on it? Coming from raptors the yfz has lower handlebars and makes you feel like your almost leaning over the handlebars.
The factory cables still worked.
I did a search, and results show an oil cooler is avaliable to help at cruising speeds.
Nice find. Thanks for sharing.
Imagine making a video on giving reasons "Not" to buy this quad...But YOU bought it.....😂💀
Yep. And you and everyone else watch these videos more than the ones on why to buy the atv. Go figure.
My biggest problem is the price tag, over 11k after tax n title whatever other bullshit fees the dealer adds on. It's not worth it in my opinion.
Yeah that’s getting up there.
For a bike that doesn’t run right in the first place without sinking another $2500 into it lol
