The weight is everything being a professional landscaper. I can tell you by holding these string tremors all day, gas or battery the weight of it is everything. Even with the two smaller batteries, the 16 pounds comes in on a heavy end. These battery operated trimmers aren’t meant for what you’ve seen in the video here, but that we can do it if you have heavy heavy stuff to do like you’ve seen in this video and a lot of it to do on a monthly weekly basis I would recommend using gas, if you’re using it just to trim sidewalks around trees at houses is perfect.
I have 4 acres in the mountains most of which is very steep and rocky with 1 acre thats all marshland. I use this same trimmer for all of it and have no regrets. I much prefer it over my gas trimmer. It eats up up everything no problem, battery life is good, and no need for ear pro. It does get heavy after about 30 min though and my wife hates it which makes me like it even more because that means she can't break it. If you run one for a living no I'd not recommend it, but for your own property (if you don't have girly forearms) I highly recommend it!
100% the thing weighs like 18lbs. Top of the line commercial gas trimmer only weighs in at about 10 - 12 lbs. It's just way to heavy to be practical. I have a commercial gas trimmer and a single battery Milwaukee trimmer and they weigh about the same. If I need more power then the Milwaukee has, I break out the gas beast. Also the gas trimmer just seems to be way faster too. I like the Milwaukee I have mostly just for some light trimming around my own home and light touch up work or around flower beds and stuff too. Then I don't have to break out the gas trimmer for just a little light touch up work. I have had a chance to use both a dual battery Milwaukee and the EGO STX4500 commercial trimmer. I was truly impressed with the EGO STX4500, the dual battery Milwaukee, not so much.
I always read comment on people commenting ego its the best , well probably ,but for me i am a carpenter and i bring my m18 tool on the jobsite , i don't see myself bringing ego stuff at work this is why althought the milwaukee is not the best ,for me a brand like milwaukee dewalt makita makes sens not ego , the same battery platform i use to cut wood and drill screw at work, i use the same battery for taking care of my yard this is nice.
i just bought this with 2 8.0 batteries and a charger from HD on sale for 399. 300$ off the market price and i cant complain on that, essentially free batteries and charger. Im so done with gas trimmers. they never seen to work more than a few weeks for me.
The runtime is ok , with .105 line at 17" cutting swath and 2 forge in thick grass i made 8minutes without never releasing the throtle, the grass was 12" and higher , the string trimmer was cool as a concumber and both battery were tepid , i have run the dual battery over 2 hours in a ditche almost non stop this unit will not overheated althought it was hot sunny day outside i am really impress with this tool this is by far the most powerfull tool milwaukee has ever made with their OPE lastly the weed don't jam on the head of the string wich i think its nice.
I don’t think any of us would pay $700 either , you can pay $200 for a great set and use the same battery for a drill , grinder , super sawzall etc . Makes sense to a lot this is why Milwaukee thrives and is super innovative.
@@emort6 You can definitely find that price for retail 2024 , I would maybe not buy it as a set. There are tons of people/ places reselling those batteries sealed. There are also tons of retail promotions where you buy one thing and get another, making it cheaper. I, unfortunately, have a lot of Milwaukee tools sealed and never used, even a lawnmower. Those batteries are under warranty so if I ever need to replace them MILWAUKEE is great about that .
@aronp713 You failed to mention where I can find this set for $200. The only thing close is a single battery unit, bare tool, for $200...which is not this tool. Also Milwaukee only warranties their batteries for two years.
It’s new. Give it a year or two and these’ll be $250 on sale. Factory authorized outlet runs 20% off deals every couple months. That means this thing is $320 and it just came on the market.
The thing weighs like 18lbs, even the top of the line commercial gas trimmer only weighs in around 10 -12 lbs. It's way to heavy to be practical. That and you can get a top of the line commercial gas trimmer for the price of the bare dual battery tool and with batteries it's twice a much as a top of the line commercial gas trimmer costs. If you need more power then the single battery trimmer has, I would for sure opt for a commercial gas one. Also if I was going to get a commercial battery trimmer I would for sure go with the EGO STX4500 commercial trimmer over the dual battery Milwaukee. I tried one out and was truly impressed with it. 👍
Seems like a great trimmer but I can't believe there's nothing to protect the battery from smashing into the ground when you set it down. It also seems like it should be able to run a 20 inch cutting swath if it's as powerful as they claim.

Looks cool, would love to see the dual Forge 6.0's compared to the 2 12.0 run time.
I'M GUESSING ABOUT 20 minutes ON HIGH

@@OUTILSCLIPSQC12" high grass? Brother, you need a machete, not a weed whacker!
Great review, but I'll keep my 10 year old echo trimmer. Even if it died I would never pay $700 for a battery powered trimmer.
We understand. Can't argue with something that works for you. Thanks for watching.

@aronp713 He clearly stated in the video that the tool cost alone is $399 and the set is $699. Where can you find this set for $200?

I can't believe there's nothing to protect the battery at the bottom!
Should have the ability run on 1 battery
If the market is landscapers, I'd rather see a back pack battery solution like stihl.
