    Safins best was lethal and don't forget he beat sampras,Federer and novak twice each,won 2 slams 5 master 1000s and 2 davis cups even though he spent 4 years out with injuries and retired at 29 in this season.

    "Generation game" but they both were in their 20's (merely one year short of the age difference between Fed and Novak!). Tomorrow's match between Rafa and Alcaraz will see someone in his 10's and someone well in his 30's face each other. What would be even more fun is a potential Federer-Alcaraz match with an 18 year-old aspiring legend facing a 41 year-old established legend!

      @@chamindujanith6337 you may be right, Safin 1980 and Gael 1986, then? Funny how people keep denying Federer and Djokovic don't belong to the same generation. It's only due to both Djokovic s precocity and Fed s longevity that people don't feel the inherent faillibility of comparing a 38 years old Fed to a 32 years old Djokovic (Wimbledon 2019) as if both were in their prime playing on equal terms...

    • @funfor1life
      @funfor1life 2 года назад +4

      And Fed still got match points and pretty much dominated the whole statistical field while having defeated Nadal in the semi while Djokovic had taken Agut down in short straight sets and had one more resting day before the final! That's the most unfair loss in recent Grand Slam history!!

    Safin was 29 and monfils was 22 at that time given that age difference every Federer/Djokovic and every Federer/Murray match can also be called "generation game", doesn't make sense. By that logic, Thiem/Shapovalov or Thiem/FAA can also be called generation game which again doesn't make sense since all of them are in 20s. Federer/Sinner or Rafa/Alcaraz or Nole/Musetti is more of a generation game
