- Today Dan and I crack into the new JD Bonded. We had such good memories of the travel exclusive bottled in bond that we are putting some high expectations on this bottle. Will it live up to your expectations?

The triple mash was definitely my favorite of the two new releases . The bonded makes some killer cocktail though with those dark tobacco notes.
There's only one solution to this: $30 whiskey war. Put it up against 1792 SB, OF 100, and WT101. Those are all budget hitters. If JD Bonded beats any of them, it now becomes worth it for folks who like that profile. (JD Bonded is $30 in California, for reference.)
Totally agree but seems like it’s being marked up because it’s new. Cheers brother.
Agreed. OF 100 runs circles around this stuff. Yes OF is not "BIB" but its a damn good whiskey. Plus OF 100 is $39.95 for a 1750 ml handle here in Texas. Never mind $30 for 70cl shrinkflation bottle. Not familiar with 1792 SB as I usually don't go for the Barton/DSP-KY-12 brands ATM. HH produces a ton of BIB products -- I'd take JWDANT (yes JWDANT!) BIB at $27.99 per 1750 over the JD BIB 70cl at $30. I've got a 750ml bottle of HH 7 year BIB for $42 that i''m going to open soon . I have a hunch the HH 7 year will be a lot better than the JD BIB for only $12 extra bucks (and oh yea HH comes in a normal 750 bottle).
LETS DO THIS….$30 WHISKEY WAR!!
I think JD bonded is better than OF100. But it's close. I need to blind side beside. Prob couldn't tell difference. They're close in every way
I like the jd bonded way more than the wt101 this stuff is delicious, smells like bananas foster.
I am liking the triple mash
Buy it all drink it slowly enjoy
You gave gentleman Jack an A, yet you both agreed that the bonded was better. Why did you not give the bonded an A as well?
different context; this just shows that GJ was overrated previously.
They may have been referencing the old bonded that was travel only. I love the new bonded personally
GJ sucks. Bonded is definitely a better whiskey.
Price maybe?
Well… according to the thumbnail… Boinded
I agree with Dan on this one
Found it at a local SE Michigan store and paid $59. Yep I'm a bit disappointed with it at that price. If I paid $45 I would have been much happier with it.
Gentleman Jack is 80 proof. I was alwasy hoping for more ABV, this is better IMHO.
WoW more discussion than I thought there would be. You both are correct. Sean C+ if you don’t have to pay an up charge. Dan B- because it might be the only JD you can find that’s not Black Label. Love you guys your so intense in reviews.
Buffalo Trace was impossible to find at retail for me for the past couple of years, but now I can find it pretty easily. Wish I could say the same about Eagle Rare.
I agree, BT is much more plenty than ER for us too, but with a little sleuthing around you can find it
@@BourbonJunkies BT is still very allocated here in Houston. 4 years ago it was everywhere, but I haven't seen a bottle in over 2 years. When it shows up it's gone immediately.
I got mine from Kroger - both Triple Mash AND BiB were 1 Liter
Bought it last night, It's Different.. Alot of Oak in this one. But it's good
State minimum for MI is for 1L
Dan Shook. 2022 long pour champion 🏆
Solid budget pour, better than the triple mash to me. 30ish bucks easy buy. You guys should blind it with some other bonded bottles or 100 proofers, OF100, Coopers 100, McKenna etc.
I want to see a pappy bottle flip
I just recently saw the bonded being $45 and the triple mash being $50 I haven’t has either but the price tag seems high. I’m a huge Old Forester 100 proof fan. The 86 is a little to light on the proof for me now. I’m gonna give the Dickle Bourbon a try now that people are digging it.
If they are the liters thats about standard. If they arent, they jacked up the price for no reason
@@LeatherDaddy97 ya they weren’t liter bottles
@@DLK262 then that store is jacking the price for no reason. This is a standard wide release theres no reason to raise the price aside from greed
@@LeatherDaddy97 without a doubt. There isn’t much you can do about it. I’m guessing it’s because it’s a new release and with me living in TN maybe they think someone will actually pay that price. My regular bottle of Old Forrester 100 is a great $25.60 so I’m pretty happy about that.
If you're a JD fan and comparing this to their lineup, B is a fair grade. Comparing this to American whiskey in general, C is fair grade. I'm hoping that they'll keep it up and prices will come down a little or they're be sales on it. I found the Triple Mash to be a little better but, I only had one little sample to base off of.
It’s solid but nothing crazy. If I’m drinking TN whiskey Im drinking Chatt bib and Founders
but I wouldnt drink the buffalo trace if it was free
never been a fan of the Jack Daniels line but definitely going to have to try this one out when I have access to in Canada, cheers and great video as always P.S. is the thumbnail supposed to say boinded?
The Triple Mash is much better
review coming soon!
GJ is not good. I'd just drink ole7. Bonded is way better than both. OF100 and JD Bonded would be a great blind. I think it'd be hard to pick one over the other. I feel like JD products get shit on because they're JD.
It's a 700ml bottle? Shrinkflation?
some places got Liters though!
I would take this over gentleman jack 10 times out of 10. Gentleman jack is their worst standard release in my opinion. Id also take this over 1792 small batch. wt101 is better than basically every budget bottle, so its hard to use it as a point. Its 30 bucks here so for 30 bucks its a total buy. Its not hard to find in any way either.
yea the $45.99 min pricing here makes it a hard pass for me. Dan said his grade would have been lower knowing that, but we got this in KY for $35
@@BourbonJunkies well from what i heard you guys got the liter version which is why its 45
Not that it really matters, but GJ is 80 proof.
I personally am not a fan of the Bonded. Agree that I’d take WT101 all day over it. Hell, I’d even buy OGD Bonded over the JD Bonded
Edit: And can’t forget Coopers’ Craft 100 over the JD Bonded a million times out of ten lol
Damn, I feel lucky getting this for $27.99! This is an easy buy, all day.
That is alomost how much Old No. 7 costs round here. 24.99 here in PA for No. 7
$27.99/700ml in California and 34.99/1000ml in Kentucky.
Yup, $27.99 here too! At Costco in Arizona!!
Confirmed $27.99 in Texas as well
At that price, yes
Got the 1L bottle of this for $45. It's okay, nothing to write home about. Can make a mean Maple Old Fashioned with it.
I am personally a big fan of this new bonded. B+/ A- in my personal book.
Lol thumbnail says "BOINDED"
The fact that he almost dropped it 😂 eyes don’t lie 😂
yea I had no idea until I edited this either
The look Dan had. Perfect.
It’s still funny when you guys have to admit there’s a good Dickel out there. 😂 The pain is evident.
😆😅😂🤣
Ever notice how Vampire throws in the "there's another bottle I'd rather buy" criteria only when he's harsh on the grade? When Dan slaps around a Vampire pick he's all "just judge the quality of the whiskey and the price, not against other bottles."
Would definitely buy the Bonded again. The triple mash is fun, but I feel it’s best served after having a glass of Bonded.
All this product really did was push me into buying a JD SB barrel proof. Well played.
Annnnnd????
Amazing right?
@@scotty6bites it’s so fucking good. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich with cracker crumbs and banana all day.
And it gets you buzzing.
@@samwroblewski748 I meant to write that it’s one of my absolute favorites. Try to get a store pick one. They are just next level. My two non Store picks were very peanut forward
@@scotty6bites definitely keeping my eye out when I go out-of-state for some store picks. I’m a sucker for peanut and peanut butter notes so that doesn’t bother me one bit, but would love to get some different notes for sure.
@@samwroblewski748 maybe mine were just a little too peanut for me. They were 129.1 and 131.1 proofs. The pick was from Maine and at 133.3 and knocked my dick off! Peanut but blended with that grape you were talking about and molasses and I’m drooling thinking about it! I think the store was called Damon’s and they may deliver if your state allows that.
The bonded tastes fall off fast. Not a very good whisky and there're better whiskies out there for the same or cheaper price. I'll take Gentleman Jack over this any day. I'd use this as a mixing whisky but to drink it straight, its not good at all.
Second pour is always better. Less glug.
I just bought a bottle and then watched this……should of done it the other way around…..
This is the quintessential Jack guy and not-Jack guy argument.
I’m a not-Jack guy and this shit’s pretty good.
I had such high hopes for this and I’m love brown foreman.. but completely agree this was just fine.. Buffalo trace, WT 101, ETBIB, Old forester 100 are all just better and cheaper
The triple mash though is very different and I dig it
I think that bottle is great for 30 bucks(the in my area). But at 45 bucks it does drop off for me. Great review gentlemen!
Michigan gets liter bottles. That’s why the higher price.
The JD Triple Mash (bonded) is better. Go get it!!!
2022 whisky advocate's whisky of the year lol
Sean is right on this one
I love the new JD Bonded. Crushable and full of sweet flavors. I put it with Coopers Craft and WT 101. Also, I got it for $27.99, which is what I pay for WT101 and $3 less than Coopers Craft. BT is overrated to me. Easy to get here in Oregon and I find it to be just okay. Not bad, but nothing that stands out.
Yea regular BT is just the standard of bourbon, lets you know what the profile is. People do indeed overhype it a lot, which is why I think it's on shelves more and more around us. So many other good products to have.
The triple mash is damn good. Bonded is ok. Great for cocktails.
Sean, spot on. 1792 small batch is often passed over and forgotten.
Saw 5 sitting on the shelf at my local store yesterday. Contemplated for about 10 seconds. Left it on the shelf. Walked two shelf’s down and found a smoke wagon uncut. Paid up for that. Left happy!!
Sean is 100 proof correct. Sorry Dano
Gotta Agree With Sean's rating on this. Isn't even an Honorable Mention on any top "budget" whiskey list. I bought this to review, tasted it, & now I'm finding myself pushing this to the back of my upconing review lists...I might put this in my Top 5 Most disappointing Whiskeys for 2022 next to The Wiseman Rye....Just not good. Cheers 🥃
How would this compare to the JD single barrel (black label - 47%). Proof is fairly close, though single barrels are a little expensive up here on Ontario, Canada (Rare Breed/KC SiB range).
see that was the comparison that Dan said we should be doing, but we didn't have a bottle actually. I think the Bonded might have a slight edge on that just because of the variability that is going to inherently exist in the single barrels. You're going to find some really good ones and some very meh ones.
I got a bottle from the full shelf locally of the JD Bonded and paid $35 for it. Its great for that price. Something unique that doesn't taste like "typical bourbon". If its priced higher, then Id look for something else. Russels Reserve 10 is $40 and Id rather have it for the same price. Eagle Rare Id rather have and (when I can find) it is $40. So as long as its in that $35 price category its a buy, higher than that Id pass. For the most part I agree with Dan, but Sean has a good point about the WT101 or Rare Breed. For a few bucks more or less there are plenty of everyday options.
Coopers Craft 100...done. $29.99 Ohio
My new affordable AND readily available favorite..👍
CC 100 is slammin, I will have to try them side by side. That's a great comparison idea. My buddy mailed me up a bottle of CC 100 as a surprise (hard to find in PA). I will have Jack Bonded next week to compare, thanks for the idea.
I prefer the Triple Mash they brought out too which 700 ml too 😃🥃
£40 Uk, Morrisons. Just picked one up today.
£30 at the moment in Morrisons, ASDA & Sainsburys buddy, well until the 17th (the day after Father's day). Anyhow, what did you think of it ? is it worth £30 ? If so I might give it a punt....
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the triple mash version
I bought a bottle. It’s good if you like old #7 but turned up a bit. I like it but think it’s too high priced. Should be $30 for a full 750ml.
This bottle is all about filling a gap in the Jack Daniel's market. Gentleman Jack is actually 80 proof, so there was nothing in that 90 to 100 proof sweet spot short of the $55 single barrel. If you like the Jack profile, this fills the daily sipper gap in the Jack Daniel's lineup.
I actually really enjoy it for the price. I'm gonna keep one on hand for sure. I get HEAVY peanut and some like caramel/brown sugar sweetness.
I’m with Sean on this one. It was the finish for me that made up my mind. Up front was good. BT and WT 101 smash the JD bonded
This Jack Daniel's Bonded tastes better than Old Forester Bottled-in-Bond, Evan William's BnB , and Wild Turkey 101. BUT, for the price point, sorry, I'll have to choose Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester Bottled-in-Bond, because they are 98-99% as delicious but are priced much lower, in other words , you may lose one percent flavor, but save around ten dollars per bottle. And even more with Evan William's White Label (BnB). But it is delicious, I'll give it that. Very worthy of neat sippin.
I like the JD bonded quite a bit for a daily sipper. I enjoy the peanutty finish and overall flavor profile.
Pass on this all day everyday...... I'm just not into anything JD.
Cooper's Craft 100 _ Brown Forman by the bye _ And a better buy. Woodford Reserve bourbon & rye likewise. Also the all new 1783 small batch @ a higher proof with "all new" labeling. And for the adventurous out there ... Four Roses entry bottle. Lastly Evan Williams White label. Honorable mention goes to the very Old Barton
Wow, just looked at a case of Buffalo Trace on the shelf in Las Vegas for $24.99. What's the supply problem..? I'd buy a bottle of this just to slap down my JD-adoring son-in-law...
Whisky is just like cigars, I’m a cohiba, robasto, 54 guy. Best cigar ever. But Jack bonded is is on a different level to me that any Dickey or turkey product. They make great products but to me that’s what they are, no limit, mass produced. I can taste, smell, and see the quality in the JD bonded. But will make cocktail out of 1792, wt, Dickel but not any of JD whiskies
29 here! I give it a B+
My list of 10 bottles I'd rather have for $35 or less:
WT 101
Elijah Craig
Knob Creek
Old Forester 100
1792
Evan Williams BIB
Four Roses Small Batch
Bulleit
Woodford Reserve
Russell's Reserve 10
At $35 this has to compete with Knob Creek 9, Four Roses Small Batch, Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, 1792 Small Batch, etc . I need to try this at a bar before paying that price for it, imo. Also in the states where I love you cannot find Buffalo Trace or Eagle Rare to save your life
Not going to stand for "shrinkflation" again by buying 70cl of American Bonded Whiskey (instead of 750 ml) ever again. This stuff is not worth $30 for shrinkflated 70cl bottle.
Its interesting that JD put out a BIB, when they are so about “Tennessee Whiskey”. Seems they want consumers to lean toward “bourbon’. Is this for the JD fan? Or for the BIB guy looking for shelf available products? Thoughts??
Bottles at that price:
1792 sb
Chattanooga 91
Of 100
Wt 101
Lost Monarch
OF rye
I find Blade and Bow for 39.
EC small batch
If you think of JD BIB as a small blind buy in to the large blind OF 1910, you will better understand the JD BIB and should try it. Similar flavor profiles with the JD having a bit less body and shorter finish.
Ya C is a fair grade
C is fair. 700 ml
101 and JDBIB are very neck and neck. I do disagree with the dismissal of this just being ok. Buffalo Trace doesn’t hold a candle to this.
Just bought a bottle today out of curiosity (and the fact that it's only $30 near me). I still prefer Jack Daniels Single Barrel, but it's good.
Haven't seen it in Fort Worth yet. Although, based on your review.......I think I will pass.
This JD BiB is $27.99 locally... and I still haven't bothered with it. I just don't need another cheap bottle!
Ooooor...Rare Breed for the same price ($45). Oooor 1792? JD finishes 3rd. Every time.
The neon introduction sign would look so dope in real life on your wall.
Can you do a blind with Jack Daniel's Bonded, Old Forester 100, and Cooper's Craft 100?
I bought this one because it was ready available in the mall. Triple Mash is much better. I agree it's just ok. It has a bitter note in the finish which shouldn't be there. But that Dickel is 8 yo, so there's no comparison.
My wife and I just picked this up for 49.99. in Arkansas not to drink, but to place in the Captain's cubert. ^^
Not gonna lie.. my FOMO kicked in briefly when I saw the thumbnail.. it reads “B O I N D E D”!! 😂
Sweet nuts....... The official juice of the summer carnival midway.
JD Bonded was aiiighhhttt I guess. It was just a JD product that tasted like JD. Upgraded JD but still JD. Just not a fan of the distillery I guess.
Very nice. Thank you. (Should try a straight up comparison to EW BiB...)
YYYEEEAAAAAAA, I agree with Dan, I would buy it again and again!! OVER GJ..
JD should have stuck with the OG 90 proof. Great stuff. This 100 is not bad.
Have both... it's OK but 35 and 700 ml.. better out there for less and you get more. won't buy again
$34.00 in Ohio. For me, this is a solid buy if you like that JD flavor profile.
I’m Louisiana it’s being sold for $39.99 for 1L at big warehouse stores
I'd just buy Old Grandad bonded for like $22 instead. JD bonded needs to be like $25 to be a decent buy imho.
At the airport in Mallorca JD bottled in bond litre bottles were $32 and regular number 7 was $34 😂
It is solid. Prices vary. 46 at distillery, 35 local in Chicago burbs but seen it for 60
I’m with Sean! I will not buy the JD bonded again! Wild turkey 101 all the way!
First time watcher. Y'all nailed the channel name, huge junkie vibes...but I like it.
Just picked one up in provo utah liquor store for $40, i like no 7 but wish it was a higher proof, look forward to tasting it
You said eagle rare was your favorite and this doesn't have the complexity you require? lol?
Just opened jack bonded last night and found it to be a good jack. I would keep it in my bar for the jack lovers that come over. Found several stores in Cali that have cases of it at 30.99 cheers Junkies and can't wait to get my toasted cigars
