    For 30 bucks I’ll have 1792 small batch, Elijah Craig small batch, Four Rose’s small batch, Russell’s Reserve 10, or Knob Creek 9 all under 30 at the big box store! However I don’t have mixed drinks only neat for me😃

    This bottle is good, BUT.....that's the review. I paid $38 for this bottle which is 700 ml and was like I think I'd rather have just saved $15 and got Wild Turkey 101 for a 750ml bottle.

      Here in CT the state min is $42 and $46 for the Triple Mash. In the lower $30s I can't say Id be mad at trying them. Upper $40s and I'm pumping the brakes on taking one home.

    Picked up a bottle of this at my TW last week for $28. I think it's a great bridge between the SBBP and regular Jack. I wouldn't dare mix SBBP, but this bonded version makes a wonderful Jack n' Coke! Disappointed that it's 700ml. I hope this is a trend that goes away sooner rather than later. Great review as always CPU!

    “They might bring the price down”……. Bwahahahaha, i know you didn’t mean it to be funny or sarcastic, but man, that had me rolling ;-). Here in NC where everything is state controlled and MSRP, it went up in price from May to June by $5.

      I agree. I gave a couple friends a blind flight with this, Early Times BIB, and Barrell batch 26, and this came in first. I think people downgrade it automatically because it's Jack Daniels.

    Jules was right with his original 65. I found this a very average pour, absolutely nothing special. The fact that the bottle was 700 ml and not the standard 750 ml really rubbed me the wrong way.

    I always like how you include “who is this for”…Its interesting that JD put out a BIB, when they are so about “Tennessee Whiskey”. Seems they want consumers who covet BIB and make it a nod toward “bourbon’. Is this for the JD fan? Or for the BIB guy looking for shelf available products? Dillon- do you have a hot take??

      Bottled in bond is not a strictly bourbon thing at all. Any spirit can be bottled in bond. There are BiB brandies out there.

    I have a question for you guys; is it worth it at 40 bucks? I saw it at a local grocer today but they had it for 39.99... for a tiny bottle i thought it about it anyway, but I just couldn't justify it. Especially, when they had a nice single malt that is usually around 60, on sale for 47.99, also a full 750ml. Love your content as always, STAY CURIOUS!!

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 года назад +1

      It all depends on your budget really. I don't think any of us felt it was a great bargain, but it was pleasant and not egregiously overpriced. If you like the Jack flavor profile it might be worth trying for you though.

    I kind of have an issue/question with how you have been scoring Balance. Are perfectly balanced flavor "levels" (Fruit/Sweet/Oak/Spice/ETC) a 10 automatically? Or is an "artful" composition that doesn't have those components perfectly leveled but produces a great flavor experience a 10? As an example, some of the Maker's Mark License Plate bottles have been brutally out of balance in terms of the levels of flavors. But those bottles produced some pretty amazing flavor experiences. (IE: Sometimes you need/want the fruit to be 2X the spice.) Again, hope you have the time to do an episode here or on the podcast, breaking down how your score. I think that would be helpful.

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 года назад +1

      It is a tricky category. Possibly the most subjective aside from value. Overall my approach is more on the artful side. The flavorsv don't need to be all at the same level, just the "right" level. Maybe we'll record a podcast on it. Good idea!

    I don't understand how this is a new release. Isn't this the same as JD Bottled in Bond? Is this just a rebrand? Also, 74 sounds entirely too high for a Jack Daniels product, especially when it's competing with the likes of Wild Turkey 101, Elijah Craig Small Batch, and Buffalo Trace, which are often cheaper than $30.
