Fun review. Speaking of legacy distillers, I think it would be interesting to see you guys do a comparison of the mainstay bourbons from the legacy distillers. Such as Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek Small Batch, WT 101, 1792 Small Batch, etc. Let's see how the "everyman" (every shelf?) bourbon base models stack up.
NJ - Medium to Hard - $30-$60 depending on the store (they love to upcharge anything Buffalo Trace)
Need to hunt it in NJ. But if willing to drive 15-20 miles can usually grab a bottle. Last purchase was 1L for $39.
Agreed. I live in Somerset county, and I may see them once in a blue moon at my local store(s), and they go for about 45 bucks.
BT will always have a place in my bourbon heart, it was my first bottle of bourbon and made me get into my journey. Love your channel and insight guys
I wouldn't say it's too hard to find in MA, you'll see it here and there. The price is always just super inflated ($45-50) and for that it's a no from me.
$45+ for this would be a 0 for value for me
In DE, DC, VA, and NC, Buffalo Trace is hard to find. I searched for Buffalo Trace in March and April 2024 and found it in one place, a rural town in NC for $34 plus tax. Store clerk told me the bottles sell very quick and my timing was perfect.
Phoenix, AZ - Medium - $25 at BevMo and Total Wine.
Used to be much harder to find. Stores may put a limit on the number of bottles that you can purchase. 👍🏼
Very easy to find here in The Netherlands. Was able to buy it a couple of months back for €20,95 (~23 USD). Really like this bourbon for this price point!
Yall giving this a similar score to C923 is a crime against whiskey and I'm here for it
Northern California- easy to find, it’s everywhere. Cost $24-27
Nice fun conversation. I am all for you guys doing more common bottles whether Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, Irish, Rum or Tequila. As for availability, here in the Northeast, its typically right around $29.99. Availability is a little weird here though. Not exactly spotty. More like in batch drops. Its typically everywhere by the case for a few weeks (typically on sale) and seems to fly off the shelves until it sells out everywhere and then it is gone for a couple of months. Then boom, every outlet has it back on the end caps again by the case, on sale again. Cheers.
Raleigh, NC: Medium to Hard to find. We’re state-run; they distribute it sparsely among the stores. Cost increased this year from $30 to $34.
Here in the great white north it’s easy to find. It’s always next to the Evan Williams single barrels. BT is usually at 40-45 CAD which= 29-33 USD
Chicago. Easy but the price just jumped this year from $24.99 to $29.99.
Sazerac raised most of its prices this past year
Where in Chicago ? Every Liquor store in the Northwest Suburbs doesn't have it when I ask.
@@user-yi2lq6qi1o binnys has it 2x month usually
@@user-yi2lq6qi1ome too
I'm an hour north of Chicago and I see Buffalo Trace maybe 3-4 times a year at MSRP.
Get it at the Military liquor stores in Virginia for around $21. Sometimes there is a 1 bottle limit, sometimes I can get a case.
Why does the Military own liquor stores?
@@AssaultFlamingo the military liquor stores are part of the military exchange system.
Mostly easy to find in St. Louis. Sometimes it is less available but in general I can find a bottle for $30-32 if I want to find one that day. Usually out of stock at grocery stores but liquor stores will have it on shelf for weeks.
Fun video.
BT is easy to get and inexpensive. Not a go to pour but always have one open and go through 3 to 4 a year.
Be interesting to see you compare BT to the new Traveller.
Agree, BT, Elijah Craig small batch, Knob Creek are good value Bourbons to have around as a daily drinker or a friends reunion bourbon
All over Texas now ever since the distributor change. Limit one, but about 25 bucks and abundant supply.
Buffalo Trace is my go-to budget neat/rocks bourbon. It really disappears in cocktails though. I would not recommend it for any mixed drinks.
NY, CT.. easy to find
I can find it in San Antonio but only at certain shops. Normally around $28
West Michigan
Restocked often but sells out just as fast.
~$32
Minnesota - Hard - $30 when on the shelves. It is possibly now allocated like everything else from distillery. I go buy this when I visit family in Indiana. Much easier to find there.
GA ~25 moderate. Also store picks for ~40. Can’t beat BT & WT101.
Seattle, WA - easy to find. $24.99 at Total Wine, Costco, and most chain grocery stores, $29.99 at mom and pop places
It’s medium hard to find around 40 here in CT
NW Indiana: easy, and somewhere between $22 and $26.
Fun video. I was shocked at Dutch's initial score; glad to see you woke up.
Rotates in the supermarket bargain zone in UK with Jim Beam JD and Old Forester and unless Woodford is in the slightly more expensive bargain rotation I think its the best of the cooking category.
In San Antonio, BT is pretty readily available at $25. It can stock out, though. Or is an allocated item, so when you get several weeks after a monthly drop, it can be hard to find.
HOUSTON, TX - EASY TO FIND, see it all the time. Solid 7 out of 10.
This year I purchased 3 different Single Barrel Store Picks for $29.99 ea. (January, July, December)
I have definitely paid a lot more money for lower quality/enjoyment pours.
Indiana - See it from time to time, not regularly available though. When I see it, I would say it's about $25 to $30 for 750ml.
You guys were on 🔥 for this one! Especially Dillon. Here in Alberta, Canada on sale 30 CDN 👍🏽 easy find
Here in IL, its pretty easy to find for $25-30 now but a couple of years ago it was a little harder. I haven't poured it in a while, but I remember it being my first bourbon that I was ecstatic to find in stores
I don't look too hard, but I do not see it sitting on the shelves here in the western suburbs.
I do look hard for it here in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago and almost never see it anymore. When I do find it they want $35-$45 for it. It's a good bourbon but not $35 good.
KS, it's not on *every* shelf in town but it's almost always available somewhere, for MSRP or roughly MSRP.
I agree with you guys. There's nothing wrong with Buffalo Trace itself. The whole tater frenzy aspect of it aside it's a solid and consistent bourbon at a very fair price, if you're not paying a markup. And Jules is right - the BT profile may be center-cut bourbon but it's also unmistakable blind.
Buffalo Trace- nearly impossible to find in Northern Illinois. When it does appear, it's reasonably priced.
BT is the Goat for real, it’s what I compare everything to, to determine value. Here in Vancouver Canada it’s $45 and no shortage.
UK - easy to find in most supermarkets.
Around £23-25.
SF, CA. Easy peasy. Total wine always has it and they even had handles for like $55 pre tax... Don't overpay people!
when you guys started complaining about the "old 90s label" I literally thought to your channel's background animations and sounds from the 70s LOL
Brazil. Pretty easy as of late. $25~32, which makes very little sense considering import taxes and shipping costs but I'm not complaining.
Minnesota - hard - however at a grand opening at a Total I snagged 2 at about $25 by making 2 separate purchases the same day, not an everyday find anywhere and often raffled.
You have to get to an Alabama ABC store early on drop day (third or fourth Saturday of the month) to buy it in Alabama. But you'll get it, whereas you may or may not get other allocated bottles. ABC price is $27.99.
OGD (and expressions) are shelf stable in VA.
I honestly never pay attention to it, but I think it's available in western Colorado for around $36 usually.... Sometimes less.... Eagle Rare is usually $50 and I don't pay much attention to it either.... I prefer higher proof BIB at minimum.
Oklahoma- 30ish medium. I’ve never had it though, I tried makers and larceny but didn’t quite like them, makers was better though
Occasional at $30 something in NC.
Central NY allocated about 30-40$ a bottle
Louisiana - Easy @ $25. We have Sazarac House here so I"m sure they keep certain stores stocked. How about a benchmark drinkthrough and throw in the Bufalo Trace.
From a 70 to 76!? Man, Dutch got hustled today ;)
Not available in Mexico but a friend of mine brought it from North Carolina for 40 (1 Liter). In Mexico you can find Wild Turkey 101 for 25 and Woodford Reserve for 35 and are at the same level for me.
Chicago IL 60611. The big liquor store chain doesn't have it and my small local place has it for $52.42 + 10.5% sales tax.(their prices are often outrageous) There are some places under $40 in the wider vicinity.
Virginia - allocated - $29
Dropped about twice a year and gone the next day.
In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada it’s easy to find. $44.45 Canadian
Buffalo Trace can be a slightly uncommon site in Northwest Florida for $30 on average. I think with the distributor change, it's getting slightly easier to find.
Have you guys done a review on rey sol tequila?
texas - Medium difficulty. i could get it pretty much whenever, but you have to know where to go
NC hard to find and set price 32.95
Pretty available in Michigan but hangs around $30 at liquor stores.
Northern NY, medium availability if you look around, $60
Besides Stagg I like BT picks better than the rest of their stuff. Never had a bad BT pick.
Utah - hardish allocated for 30.99
This is a bit hard to find in my area of metro Atlanta. Someplace near me was trying to sell this for $70 a bottle.
CA-Easy-$20 reg & $25 store pick
This was my first bottle along with Elijah Craig Small Batch. I hated mine cause I got rubbing alcohol on the palate, every sip till I finished the bottle. Obviously the Elijah Craig tasted better. I must of gotten a skunk bottle cause everyone loves this bottle.
It's easy to find in NYC, but I've seen retail anywhere between $45-$55 and at that cost I feel like there's better value elsewhere.
In New Jersey...Buffalo Trace can be hard to find ...lowest I've seen it for is $35, in NY...highest is around $45
Maui, Hawaii lowest price $29.00 Available.
Connecticut - difficult to find - range $29-79
Minnesota, TW - out of stock, hard to find.
13:46 I actually agree with demonic Dillon on this one. Buffalo Trace's profile isn't my thing but they do have a unique palate that is very enjoyable compared to so much of the crap being produced. Buffalo Trace manages to have this very potent red fruit explosion on my palate that other bourbons just don't match. It's so sweet without being medicinal cherry. Most other low proof bottles rely on darker flavors like peanuts, molassas, brown sugar, and stewed fruit. For me, Buffalo Trace is bright fruits - ripe strawberries, raspberries, and sweet tarts.
Buffalo Trace is the most drinkable bourbon from Sazerac. Any novice can grab a pour of it and slam and slam and slam it. My wife, who hates bourbon, can almost stand BT.
Phoenix AZ - $20 ~ $25
Oregon is swimming in buffalo trace. At every liquor store.
In central Louisiana its pretty easy to find. You can get it for under $30. Buffalo Trace is the gold standard for cheap low proof bourbon.
It’s always 45 or more in MA, I saw a store a few months ago charging like 129.99. No kidding. It’s not even THAT hard to find, maybe 1/10 stores have it and always up charge everything to high heavens
NC - hard - $32 (state pricing)
PA... almost impossible. You have to see one behind the counter that the nerds miss on truck day. $28
Montreal quebec canada...available ....everything else impossible to find here.
44 CAD, so about 32USD
NC - Hard. Around $40
NJ - medium/hard. 5 years ago I was $26, now it's close to $40, sometimes more
$21.99. Long Beach, CA Total Wine.
Easy to find here in Norway 🇳🇴, but the price is about $51 itˋs 40 % abv and 70 cl bottle.
Texas - Always available at msrp
Around 35 in WA after tax, usually easy to find
look at the big brain on Jule.
Still somewhat hard to find here in Michigan, but it's been getting easier within the past year.
In Virginia it's $27.99 and has been forever. Up until 2019 it was on shelves everywhere. It's now an allocated bourbon in this state.
EASY - Colorado $29
New Jersey/Philadelphia easy most of the time 25.00 to 30.00
Folsom California it's everywhere $22-$25
Oregon - absolutely lining the shelves at $29
My every day drinker 😋🥃
CAD$44.45 in Ontario, Canada...ughhh. WT101 $42.
NC/Med/$32.99
NC - Raleigh Durham, NOT existent, legendary and I have to buy it on line for a lot more than that
Available(ish) in Western WA for about $34, but after taxes, about $44. That's way too much, but those taxes apply to all booze, so what to do. Just wanna know where all that revenue goes.
Mississippi
Somewhat difficult
$35-50
51bucks ... here in Oslo Norway :)
Tokyo - 3,249 yen tax incl. ~ $22 USD.
WA = Easy. There was a period in 2021/2022 where it was harder to find.
