Star power gets a 12 year old dog adopted. I needed this today.
Why? It's fucking terrible that it takes a celebrity to do that and this focus on them is detrimental to the animals overall.

It takes this visibility to begin to turn the tide for the 3.3M dogs that sit in shelters in the US, with the misunderstood PITBULL making up so many of those numbers. The same breed of dog that attacked my niece when she visited her best friend of 7 years. Entered the house, as she'd done so many times before, and bam! Three facial reconstruction surgeries, and 10's of thousands of dollars later, and she's doing alright now.

Yes, pit bulls are misunderstood. Some people think they are good family pets, but in reality, they are dogs bred for fighting and killing.
Shelters are full of pit bulls with bite history. They are too difficult for most people.

They are not misconceptions. Pitbulls are intentionally bred to be fighting dogs. You can't untrain their genetics. There's a reason why shelters are full of these kind of dogs. They are not good family dogs.

No, they are not. They are the most difficult breed in the world, because they were intentionally bred for fighting and killing. They are constantly involved in dog attacks, and dog shelters are full of pitties with bite history.
If you buy a pit bull, at least be realistic about it's characteristics. Too many people overestimate their skills as a dog owner.
@@olijomusic2481 The ones I've known have been the sweetest dogs ever. Low prey instinct, high cuddle drive. They just wanted to be loved and told they were good dogs.
They're very smart dogs and they can be taught to be anyway you wanna teach 'em. Teach 'em to bite and they'll bite. Teach 'em to be sweet and they're just the nicest guys.

I just love Scarlett for doing this - being a true dog lover and Dodo fan. I bet quite a few celebrities will follow. In interviews, so many of them claim to be animal lovers and its easy to see why (animals have no ulterior motives for wanting to be with you.) I'm also glad they did this video with a pittie. Why should anyone advocate for pitbulls? They are originally bred for fighting. Aggression, high prey drive, high pain resistance and locking jaws are in their genetics. You can train them, but you can never undo their genes.
They are a difficult breed to train. Not good for families with children or other pets. They are constantly involves in dog attacks.

I know she's in the end just a human being just like everyone else and she isn't worth more blah blah blah but the fact of the matter is that because of her fame she can have a much bigger impact for dogs looking for a forever home by appearing in a short video like this one once in a while. Happy you took time to be with&feature Ocean. I am firm&staunch believer in the curative power of doggie kisses. I have experienced this first hand. Now 73 and not on any Rx of any kind. My wife & I are down to two mainly indoor dogs, both were puppies when we got them, now they both are approaching their senior years. So are we. Good on ya Scarlett!!
