- James English, The Anything Goes Show Ep69.
For many, the Kray twins are legends but for Chris Lambrianou they were something else entirely. Chris was a young East End tearaway, Chris turned to crime to escape the grinding poverty of his life. Armed robbery, safe blowing, fraud, even attempted murder - the big brash Cockney did the lot. Then, when he became too successful, the Krays decided they wanted a slice of his action. Pulled into their orbit, Chris was unimpressed by a crime empire built on fear, and alarmed to realise his brother Tony had become a paid up member of their firm. Then Chris was lured to the party that ended in the murder of Jack the Hat McVitie. Wanting to protect Tony, Chris helped dispose of the body. He was arrested along with the Krays and their firm, and after a sensational trial he was jailed for life in 1969.
In this podcast he describes what it's like to face life as a category A prisoner, the beatings and harsh regime, the friendship he found with other prisoners like Charlie Richardson and Bruce Reynolds. Still, in deep despair after years inside, he tried to kill himself but ultimately found the strength not just to survive but to change his life forever .

James possesses the skill too not interrupted and listen. Makes the listening so much easier. Great interview.
Thanks Kev
I agree sean has nothing on him
Yes Kev, it's what separates him from the rest. Its about his guests not him. Always asks the right questions at the same time as well. Makes interviewing looks easy.
One of the best interviewers period!
@@kyle-cy4rp Yeh that's why shaun has neary 700k subs, and this prick only has 270k haha, yeh. Makes sense
Nice to see Chris getting so much respect in the comments, it just shows how being genuine goes a long way. Great interview.
A giant of a man. I came across Chris in the mid 90s where he’d had a couple of interviews on main stream media. I can remember him talking about his conversion in a cell when he saw the devil of his own making in the mirror. All the evil he’d done up to that point. That was the catalyst for change and how different he’s turned out. So powerful and inspiring. Thanks James.
Very peaceful watching him👍
A giant of a man 😂😂
Yeah around the middle

Top notch!. Chris is one of those rare, old skool characters.
And how good does he look for 80?!?!. Glad he found some peace and happiness. Cheers James
This lad never interrupts his guests, he lets them open up and never judges anyone. I have said it before and I will say it again, James is the best podcast around and deserves above the million subscribers mark and more. ♥️ the lad.
You are bang on. Let the guest do the talking, he should be on tele.
I says I'll give this 10 minutes, almost 90 minutes later still lying here . Brilliant. What a different insight into the twins . This man was the real deal in his day and love how he uses his experience to help others . Best one yet Jamie , sorry James lol . Different Class . Loved it
Kevin Reynolds Ahahah cheers Kev

@steven wilde Ah shut up ya puff...
@steven wilde Na ya right mate he went to prison for being a criminal, but In his case and very rarely prison done what it's meant to do, rehabilitate a person.. He grew up In a different world to you and me what else was he going to be. You gotta learn to give people a chance...
Met this man in hmp bullingdon back in 2000, most humble ex-villain you will ever meet. Keep up the hard work James bro.
That's where I met his brother in 1997 👍👍
@@EdzashedFudwinkle aye, same as, on b wing spur 2 in 1999, was next door to Tony, totally different man from Chris.
He said he’s been oot for 35 year though?
@@teaboy256 he used to run the ley community in bullingdon, now go get some tea made!!!
@@Stef-X what does that mean? He used to work in the prison yeah? I know he had a charity or something like that
Mr. James English, I love how you conducted this interview allowing him to fully express himself without unnecessary interruptions. Much respect!
Laughing at people getting robbed? What if it was your Mum or wife? Disrespectful.
Fantastic interview James, love how you let people explain without interrupting them..
Best show on you tube.
Another good pod cast James! Love the way you actually let the guest speak with no interruption. ‘do you understand!!’ 👌🏻😃
I class myself a hard strong man and I was in tears listening to the end of this interview. I lost my dad recently and also found love and it just melted me and I feel no shame in saying that. He is a true man and I have so much respect for him. I dedicated the last 20 yrs of my life re housing and working with ex offenders and I relate to so much he said.
Lovely comment!
Nice one mate 👍🏻 top guy
“I class myself as a hard strong man” jesus christ
@@i_know_youre_right_buthe loves his mum though 😂
Thanks James and Chris! Chris is a proper man, humble and respectful! This really touched me! 🙏🏻
What an honest, down to earth man. Enjoyed this a lot.
I’m glad you are at peace with yourself Chris, good interview James.
Thanks John
Good man and great interview. Chris always comes across as genuine & sincere.
It's so wonderfull to watch an interview, where the interviewer actually listenes to the guest.Great work James.
Another belter of an interview been looking forward to this one 👏
“You understand what I mean” must have been an hour of this documentary!!!! What a legend and REAL human!
🤣🤣🙌🏼
Sake, Can't concentrate now.
Literally mate hahah
James's beats women
@@timothybucktoo5050 . You ride yer maw!!!
I’ve watched a lot of documentaries that Chris has been in always thought he’s a nice respectful and respectable guy, hard to believe how involved he was back in the day I’m glad he’s free and living a good life he’s a good man .
Absolutely!
Really enjoyed this interview! Chris is a stand up gent, you can tell he doesn’t think much of the Krays. I found it very poignant as to how he described not snitching, it isn’t about the other people, it’s about your character and maintaining the value of your word, some lessons that our generation today would do well to take away. Thanks very much both of you.
This isn't the boys own book of villainy..they did major crimes murder..
everyone is woke the days lol
He wasn't very well liked back in the day, he often tried using the Krays names in jail in the early days to get his respect, and it backfired on him on at least on ocassion that I heard of. And he lied about it in his book.. saying he deliberately through his tea on someone, which was a lie. He apollogised to Doughie Parks saying how it was an accident. Doughie Parks was gunna rip him to pieces, but he shit himself apologising and so was let off..
But then told it like he was the big one in his book after in reality he shit himself.
The guy was a mug.
Well done James English! I've been watching lots of these whilst being furloughed. This interview in particular is spectacular and brought a tear to my eye. What an incredible interview. I'm not normally into listening to an ex- gangster harping on about the good old days anymore I've heard and read enough about them, but this was totally different. I have the utmost respect for Chris, an absolute gentleman I felt humbled. This will stay with me And well done, James. Great work.
Cheers mate
Refreshing to hear a genuine man who has transformed his suffering ...great humility too..thanks
One of the best you have done JE, what an honest reflection from Chris, a man who admits he was wrong and tries to help others as some sort of repentance. Fair play to the big guy.
Another great Interview. You do get some great guests James. A real mixture. Top marks.
Best interview I have ever seen from an ex gangster who turned his life around. This man was and is the real deal. He tells the truth with humility and explains why he became what he did, both as a gangster and a reformed man...from the Kray twins to jail to dylan and pink Floyd and eventually to the bible.... a stand up man in both lives he lived, very inspirational .
Another great podcast mate! The way you allow guests to speak is brilliant, no unnecessary interruptions just guiding the flow of conversation when needed, made up I found your channel!
Thank you 👍🏼
You are sitting on a goldmine with these Podcasts james.
What an amazing story of the Gospel of Free and Sovereign Grace. A great example for young kids who are trying to break free from the bondage of crime and gangs.
What a guy, admire his integrity and his attitude to give something back, no time for the "twins" or the way they are portrayed...respect to you Chris
What a quality interview, I've been watching your interviews now for about a month and they are by far the best I've seen.
Thank you
@@JamesEnglish and thank you, I lost my leg last year through the army and these podcasts have been massive on me changing my mindset over the 12 months since losing it after trying to fight to keep it. I've not even made a dent in what you have produced but I intend too. Thanks again 👍
Another great interview James..I liked the fact you showed Chris respect without correcting him when he kept calling you Jamie..well done
Cheers mate, yeah I didn’t mind the big guy is sound and great to see him now helping others in life not to make the same mistakes he did 👍🏼
James English defo James..I've read a bit about his life,,he's the kind of guy you would want in your corner if you needed help...anyway great interview
Good honest interview
I read his book when I was locked up in Feltham as a juvenile, went to Coldingley prison like him also as an adult (all on the same long sentence) have found God since and have never been happier or looked back. Wish this fella the continuous happiness in his life. 🙏🏽 Crime doesn't pay and you don't just hurt yourself it's generations there after. Another great interview Anytime Goes 👍
James I'd just like to say your podcasts are some of the best I've seen!!! The mixture of guests make the topics so informing. Top job!!! 😎👌😉👏

Great interview James I'm not a gangster or a known criminal if you even want to interview a heroin addict who spent 31years one the gear and got clean I'm your man I've got a very powerful story and an inspiring message from bell to hope
Thanks So Much!! I've been waiting for Sammy The Bull interview, but this will keep me going until then! I love Chris and Tony x
Absolute Fantastic Story of .Loss, Regret and Redemption. Much Respect to Chris for having the courage and strength to help others from not going the same path that he did.
I've watched an endless amount of videos on Chris and he's such an inspiring and capturing character. Regardless of his past, he has managed to carve a career in helping others and the success of his work is worthy of an OBE. For an 80 yr old man he really is so sharp and articulate, I only wish he got more publicity for devoting his life to help others.
He wasn’t very popular in the underworld he had a reputation of being a big mouth. He’s helping others now that’s a good thing but all in all he must’ve cost the country and bleeding fortune keeping him in jail.
Exactly. And he tried using the Krays names in jail in the early days to get his respect, and it backfired on him on at least on ocassion that I heard of.
Brilliant interview!
Another cracking interview, I’m hooked
He knew when he lay the Bible against his heart that he had found something special, that brought tears of joy to my eyes. Chris Lambrianou what a lovely man, just listening to him talk is inspiring and his story certainly inspires change. This man is real McCoy! Great interview!
It's amazing what you will do when you're desperate.
Amazing interview. A portal into a past 1950s/60s culture that's long gone now.
Another fantastic guest, James.
It put a spring in my step listening to Chris.
God bless him.🙏👍
James another quality podcast.chris was an awesome choice.i love listening to old story's peace respect.
Great interviewing as per 👍 Chris what a great talker and inspiration for folk that have come off their tracks a little. I bet your parents are bursting with pride at who you have become. Great stuff
Great interview James, top men Chris & Tony.

Excellent interview, really enjoyable listen. Great video
Thank you
James, even though im watching your older Podcasts, I want to say ater 16 yearsin Prison myself, GOD BLESS you and Chris for CHANGE,AMEN xx
Whether people believe him or not this man found something while he was in prison that proved to be for the greater good of himself! You can’t talk the way he did without experiencing something and whether that was a ‘godly’ spirit or his own spirit he felt something!
I could listen to Chris all day! One of the best, open interviews I’ve seen 🙏🏽
Great interview.
This chap done his time as honourable as he could be.
Had plenty of time to reflect on his previous life and completley turned his life around .
An absolute inspiration 💪💪
I have no reason to disrespect Chris but I don't believe he had the bottle to kill anyone.
Only 30 minutes before, he was sat on the stairs crying & (in his own words) in another interview, he said he felt a coward when Reggie pulled the gun out.
I think like just like most of the firm, he was petrified being in their company, as Freddie Foreman stated, they were a becoming a danger to everyone.
But at the end of the day Chris was & still is an honourable man, he didn't grass & he did his time like a man & he has nothing to be ashamed of, even if he was a coward, after all Ronnie Kray had recently killed a man in public.
Coupled with the tales of other murders ! I wish him the best, he's a great man & a great father.
What an amazing interview, seemed like a really nice guy just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Keep up the great work James getting the truth out there.
What a fantastic Podcast James this story is true reflection of misplaced loyalty and how situations can escalate very quickly and cause so much misery and pain for all involved. Great to see Chris has had a great life after Prison and still going strong at 80. Well Done James.
Chris is a lovely man....thanks James, God is the only way 🙏
Great Interview James. Very interesting story. I wish Chris all the best. It gives everybody hope for the future.
Amazing journey Chris. What's important is how you are rewriting the end of your human experience in our time and space. True courage, resilience, and determination. Thank you for all your hard work in helping change the narrative for the next generation .... Lot of love from Johannesburg SA
Absolute belter of an interview...seems a genuine old timer who speaks the truth
