    Do you guys do international shipping at both stores? I just joined eBay’s international shipping program and already made a sale to Canada! Have you tried it with your jeans store? What do you think about shipping internationally?

      One time a person bought a 511 Tactical jacket from me and it was an international sale. The hard thing about it was that it went to a military base or something and I had to come up with a tariff number. That was kind of stressful trying to figure out how to handle that.

    Great video. Problem with basing your monthly total on winter sales is the type of items selling. By that I mean winter has a lot more higher items on average than Summer. Especially for men's shirts, You would have to list more than 5 shirts in Summer to reach the 3,000, I would think.

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  2 месяца назад +4

      Yea, it will take more learning to see what high profit items sell in the summer. I would only need to list more than 5 shirts a day anytime throughout the year if my profit margin fell below $25/item. It’s also not an exact science. If after a year, I average $3000/month I’d be happy with that because ebay has its ebbs and flows. Just means I can’t have $3000 be my ceiling so that it can average out potentially slower months.

    The only thing missing in your numbers is utilities. Electricity, heating fuel if you don't heat with electric, internet and all phone fees. Those would factor in as well.

      They’ll come in. Try switching it up with the items you post. Also relist items. If you just let eBay relist them every 30 days, they don’t get a new item ID. So essentially when they relist your item automatically it doesn’t get entered to the algorithm as a new item.

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  2 месяца назад

      Hi! I don’t calculate the small stuff like that because it’s shared with personal and other businesses. It would be a minuscule cost at the end of the day. If my profit margins were paper thin, then I’d probably consider it but I’d rather focus on increasing my profit margin vs how many cents in electricity I used on the item. :)

      Yea, I reinvest that $4 into another item. If I'm maintaining my store size, I'll keep the rest of my profit but if I'm growing my store, then I'll reinvest the original $4 plus more from my profits to buy more inventory.

    Is 8% promoted a standard thing for you even across the pants store? Or is that just on the shirts store to give it a bit of a push?
    I've never really gone past the 5% mark so would be good to know.

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  2 месяца назад

      It really depends on your items and what you're willing to pay to promote them. If you're items can sell themselves quickly, no promotion is needed at all. But if an item is really not desirable, then it could possibly be promoted at 100% and still not sell. I recommend finding a promo rate that you're happy to pay for and focus on ensuring the items being listed get better and better so less promotion is necessary.

      $12.99 covers majority of the shipping cost for big coats but I’m also central USA so my shipping costs are generally lower. I don’t think I’ve shipped any coats out that cost more than $10 and some change.

    • @carrieathome
      @carrieathome  2 месяца назад +1

      I definitely recommend doing what’s best for you! Your items may not need to be promoted as much as someone else’s due to having more desirability or pricing better than them. I got to 8% because I was selling lower end, less desirable items and it took 8% to get them to move at the speed I wanted them. I probably don’t have to do 8% with my current items but I just left it as is because I’m too chicken to decrease it. I hear ebay hates decreases in promo rates. I recommend you promote at a fee you’re comfortable paying on each item.

    ❤this was great! question so it’s a shirt and jacket store for men correct? You look incredible, when is baby due? It’s always so nice to watch your videos…..learning so much

      It’s shirts, jackets, anything you wear on the top half. I list both men and women’s items but it’s usually men’s items that have more money in them. Thank you!

      @ OK got it makes a lot of sense. I’m thinking of doing something like that in my retail but right now I’m in the hospital and I have been here for over 30 days because my gentleman had a bone marrow stem cell transplant and we are and what they call isolation. it is the hardest thing to watch a loved one go through and it has completely shattered my heart so thank you for this wonderful video

      @@carrieathome thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️I know it will because I have faith BUT it is a very long detailed process, Cancer Sucks!! So for now my resale shop is closed and I’m okay with that. Thank you again for your kindness :)

    Is that actual profit? Or is it just average or round about number? I’m only asking because I did the same math on mine and it’s showing more profit than what’s actually being deposited in my bank account. I’ve been going off of bank account payouts cuz it’s so much easier for me.

      It matches payouts pretty spot on. Return shipping label costs, refunds for returns, sales tax, store subscriptions, item cancellations, etc are all pulled from payouts so that may be where your difference is.

      @ okay! That makes total sense. I wasn’t thinking about returns or store subscriptions. Thanks! 😊

    I’m an accountant and I’m going to say I want to move to where you are lol. Our taxes here are about 20%. Half of what you put side. Great video.

      Yea it’s crazy how different everyone’s taxes work out in the end with all the different tax brackets, deductions, credits, write offs, state tax vs no state tax. I figured 10% was a good middle the road for example and people can plug and poke their own numbers for a more accurate representation :)

    Seems your “shirt store” became a “coat store.” Good to know.

      I always intended it to be just anything you wear on the top half, t shirts, tops, jerseys, jackets, coats. Saying shirt store was easier than top store.

      if you reuse them and don't date it you won't know if it's a old item I do it the way Carrie does it then if I still have lower numbers down the line I will do discounts or auctions to get rid of old stock
