Great video guys. I'm very happy about the support that you two gentlemen are getting from your subscribers, it is well deserved. However, in this video, you seemed a bit excited, but also exasperated from the sheer volume of inquiries you get about content. Don't worry about it, just do what you do best and it will all sort itself out. Your channel has a wonderful chemistry about it, and you and Chris are the main ingredients in that recipe, Don't let people overwhelm you into changing anything, or worse, rushing things just to accommodate them. Please make sure to take care of yourselves, and the channel will take care of itself.

One quick tip on the EGR - check if the physical mechanism is still in place or if it has been blanked off. It’s common to just disable them electronically as part of an aftermarket remap. If this is the case you won’t get a EML from flashing back to stock, it’ll just start functioning again. 💡if it has been “blanked off” you should be able to see this and you will need to fit a replacement to get it back to standard.

That is a nice one, and it appears a lovely, honest seller. I did slightly worry when you were late, fearing that something had caused a real problem. In-built, satnavs are rather more miss than hit, my wife's 2012 would not update and though last year, had my 2016 updated, yet when I used a new motorway junction the inbuilt satnav had me driving across a field, no surprise there! We use Waze, with my wife as navigation manager, always up-to-date, it speaks instructions, and tells us about problems like building congestion and how to avoid a problem. Glad Chris had a well-earned break, he looks refreshed.

Great video, I have an identical truck. Owned it for 13 years. A 3 litre mk6 auto is the one everyone wants, check the chassis where the fuel tank cross member goes, as they rot. Mines a minter, but that rail was rotton as a pear, so may need a welder on it. That truck with low mileage is 8k all day long. I was offered more than that px on mine, and got my new Hilux due delivery in November. Been waiting a year for it

Those EGR valves cause a sticky tar and carbon to build up inside air intake ports, valves and airbox which restricts airflow to support complete combustion and reduces engine life.

Just to mention about EGR valves getting blocked.
The main reason for this is the EGR cooler normal gets blocked first then this blocks the valve which puts the engine management light on.
Just cleaning the valve and not the cooler as well won't really help the problem it just stops the light coming on.
It just ends up blocking the DPF and exhaust in time and sending the ecu nuts.
I have found putting Red X diesel treatment in normally helps it get clear if it's not to clogged up.
And take it for a hard drive for a bit.
    Saves hundreds on new parts.

EGR valve……the worst invention ever created. It’s terrible for your engine and gunks everything up. Manufacturers didn’t care what it did to your internals, just that they could get the readings under a certain range.
My EGR had already cost me 7.5k for a new engine (VW T5 CFCA)

      Egr lowers nox gasses.

    • @PJ-om2wq
      @PJ-om2wq Год назад

@@sruk that isn't the purpose of EGR. Diesel engine are so efficient that without EGR they start burning the nitrogen in the air as well as diesel, normal air being mostly nitrogen. The result is NOx (basically burned nitrogen). EGR works by filling the cylinder with exhaust gas as well as air so that there isn't enough oxygen in there to burn the nitrogen. However it's not the only solution. A throttle flap like a petrol engine would also do it, but would increase pumping losses and damage fuel economy. The problem with using exhaust gasses to dilute oxygen is that it contains soot and that's what clags up everything. Maybe they should feed it from after the particulate filter if there is one, and probably fancy diesel that smokes less (so less soot) will help as well.

I love my Hilux , 2014 model. Only snag in that time was a broken hand brake cable. Bonnet doesn't wobble but then it's only opened once a year.

I've done EGR deletes before on cars, keeps the engine so much cleaner the re-circulated soot will only clog it again over time, personally if it passes an MOT smoke test I'd be fine with it.

I used to replace the EGR valve on my X-type ever year. Was a quick and cheap job to do. EGRs always seem to block on large engine diesels, particularly if they aren't used for long journeys. No real need to delete them though

Just a short note to say that at the age of this vehicle and mileage you should definitely check the the fuel injector value's as the D-4D 1KD-FTV engine is notorious for failing injectors. I have this engine in my Toyota Prado and it needs a new set of injectors around every 150000 km's. If this still has it's original injectors then they will be the non DLC coated spindles. A dead give away for the injectors is how bad the engine rattles on cold start up in the morning. The latest injectors last longer than the original OEM ones. Also if it still has the original short body Suction Control Valve that needs to be thrown and replaced with the new long body version. Also when it comes to air conditioning the first place to look is the aluminium tube to the compressor, it is very common for this tube to suffer a wear hole from cabling being routed wrongly. I forgot to mention that you will probably find that the MAP filter needs replacing as they are usually cracked by the time they reach the mileage of this car.

I am sure I saw Chris's post well before 17:00 hrs, went off to do something else. It just shows the quality of Toyota generally that truck looks like a lot lower miles. A nice coulor also and in very good shape. I think I would change the part if it is needed as I am sure you two will do before you sell it. Maybe you will keep it but let's see. Chris is entitled to some time off now and again, 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' is a very good saying to remember. The man works like a machine and although we appreciate his hard work he does need a rest once in a while. Thanks again Rob and Chris for another 'day in the life ' of SRUK, excellent. 👍👍

A lot of diesels suffer from this problem.
I am running a Mercedes B class 200 CDI and at around 105 thousand miles the engine management light came on and it turned out to be the whole assembly was solid with carbon and also prevented the turbo operating, so I was driving a slug for a while until we tracked the problem down, so may I suggest that you strip not only the EGR valve off bur also the housing that the valve is located in as this in my case was solid with carbon!
I hope access to yours is easier than mine as it was a nightmare to access but well worth the trouble.
Fit a new EGR valve it's well worth the cost!!
