I haven’t had the chance to drive a GT4 yet so I have no clue how soft the suspension is for daily driving. A proper review of the 718 Spyder. You call it correctly what it is; 718 Spyder. As a 718 owner myself, I really enjoyed watching your video. Mine is a manual, but the review of the PDK was amazing. I still like the manual, especially with auto blip function - so fun. Love the sound of the aftermarket exhaust. I am still with the stock set up. I might do something about that in the future, but for now I'm enjoying the Burmester. Thank you for celebrating the manual roof, it's too cool to not love. Also, one can use the key fob from the exterior to put the roof down without getting inside the car - nice function. Just hold down the unlock button and it sets everything up.

And to all of those that talk about “Porsche is just sticking to tradition”, then why do they offer it with a PDK transmission. That’s not traditional. $100k isn't that much money nowadays. You only live once.

@TheTopher you also drove the 718 GTS 4.0 in manual. Could I get your $0.02 on the manual vs PDK please?

I really want to know what people do for work to afford these cars, I have a decent job and my dad makes six figures and yet neither of us could dream of affording a gt4 or Spyder.....

    Porsche doesn’t use Alcantara.

Having driven the newer 718 and the 981, I’m glad I went with the 981. Much better stock exhaust sound and a lighter car by about 200lbs. Also, I believe if you install an aftermarket exhaust on this car, it voids the warranty. Finally, PDKs are nice, but it’s a crime to put one in a Spyder. So much less driving engagement than the manual.

Agreed on the stock exhaust on the 981, it’s just about perfect. Also prefer the manual on the 981 👍

Agree. I own a 981 Spyder and after testing the 4.0 in the 718, decided against it even though they got a better suspension and steering. The 981 feels more rough and puristic, the exhaust note is so much better.

Question for the owner. Why did you change the suspension? PASM is really good.

Aftermarket suspensions can turn a car into a much more focused beast. Especially (high quality) porsche aftermarket parts.

@@augustortiz Good point, I was thinking of this car as a daily car, but maybe this owner can afford this as a second car.
