Wonderful video - Thank you! I’ve done so many boxed corners on my sewing machine, but none on my serger….yet! I love the look of having it stitched and finished all in one step. Can’t wait to see the new pattern!

Excellent demo, Gail! Thanks for highlighting to measure from the seam line vs the edge of the fabric. Nesting the seams makes the seam so much less bulky.

Nesting seams on quilts, cover hems and all sorts of applications really minimizes bulk and not getting a big lump on the public side of any project. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this! But I am curious how you complete all your tail ends? Have you touched them all with glue? Because they’re not long enough to pull through I think the tail ends is what keeps me from using the surge and not knowing what will ravel or unravel.

Hi, Because the thread tails will be between the bag layers, I don't worry about them unraveling. (And this was just a demo to show the technique.) I typically leave a thread tail long enough to pull under the stitching for 1 1/2" - 2". They never come undone. You can also use Fray Check, a seam sealant. For heavier weight threads, I like good old Super Glue that dries clear. You can dab it on the ends with a cotton swab. Hope that helps you and thanks for asking!

If you are interested, I have saved some great videos from superior threads that show a really great way to start and end with your tails already sewn in with the stitches. I seldom have to thread any tails after I’m done.

Gail, there’s even what I think is a better way to do this. I purchased the boxed corner ruler by Carolina Moore. You don’t need to have this ruler, but it’s a great ruler, but if you cut out your boxed corners ahead of time and serge both your side seams and your bottom seam for example, then you can still very easily serge the box corner and you don’t have to try to line up the side scene with the bottom seam
